Perfectly plotted and riveting The Dream Hose is a MUST read for psychological thriller lovers, and fans of T. M. Logan’s writing. The Dream House tells the story of Adam and Jess who move into their you guessed it! DREAM HOUSE with their three young children. Before they’ve even finished unpacking Adam discovers a door hidden behind a fitted wardrobe, concealing a secret room, and so begins a twisted and troubling tale. Personally I think Adam would have fared better if he had heeded the warning ‘somethings are best led buried’.He sets in motion a series of events that will place his family in terrible danger. What makes this book such a gripping read is the fact that he takes ordinary people and puts them in the most extraordinary situations.
Logan’s use of strong imagery to describe the house creates a creepy atmosphere that draws the reader in from the opening chapter. I loved how the author uses multiple timelines to add to the suspense. He never gives too much away allowing the reader to second guess where the plots leading. Some of my guesses were imaginative to say the least, but not on par with the authors dare I say dark and vivid imagination! With perfectly placed twists and turns The Dream House is one of those books that’s begs to be read in one hugely satisfying sitting.
Goodness! Another T.M. Logan novel that reads like a movie, taking you on a wild ride. Maybe not the book to read when you're looking for a house yourself, like me, haha!
I warmed up to the family quite quickly and got invested in the story not through the dad's obsession but for all its consequences on everyone living under this roof.
As usual, the writing is detailed and descriptive enough so you get a clear image of everything in your head while leaving space for imagination.
Another excellent read from TM Logan who is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.
His technique of ensuring it is almost impossible to not want to start the next chapter is rather clever.
I had to force myself to put the book down on a night!
I enjoyed the book, and of course the twist towards the end. I have found some of his other stories more intense and the storylines more exciting than this one but I still found I wanted to keep reading and the writing style is easy going which is perfect for me!
I will certainly be looking out for the next book!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC of this book. I enjoy a thriller, and this book does not disappoint. The reading puts you on the edge of your seat, and leaves you guessing an every page turn. Some was repetitive - multiple characters interacting with the main character suffered from ' a look flitting across their face briefly' - but I was surprised by the ending. An enjoyable read
I really like book by this author, but I find that I skip to the good parts vs reading it word for word. This family moved into a new house and finds a hidden room with a locked dresser. Inside are items that are clearly trophies from a killer. But who put them there? I was on edge trying to figure out exactly who the killer was and why the items were left behind. I did not see the ending coming. Good suspense. Just maybe a little too long and slow for me in the beginning.
A great book by T.M.Logan. Drawing you in from the first page this thriller of a book has you rooting for the very likeable characters. With plenty of tension I wasn't sure what was going on half the time but in a good way! I was not expecting the ending either. A fab book that I couldn't put down. I highly recommend this book and author.
TM Logan is one of those authors that always delivers and this was a very suspenseful mystery which I think fans of his will very much enjoy
After moving into his dream home with his family, Adam comes across a hidden room where he uncovers a few strange, random items. When he starts to look into them (and sell one of them) he quickly realises their importance to other people and the lengths that they will go to get them back.
Whilst some of his decisions were a bit dubious, by nature I am a very curious person so I was very much rooting for Adam in his search for the truth. Whilst I felt the story did get a little confusing at some points (it may just have been me) it was a thrilling climax.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bonnier Books UK, Zaffre, for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
Well this certainly didn’t disappoint. It was a really great storyline, with lots of twists and turns. You got to the point where you were not sure who were the goodies and who were the baddies, which meant 5hat each chapter had extra jeopardy. The ending was excellent and very well constructed. Totally left field. So good I really wanted it to keep going.
"The Dream Home" by T.M. Logan is a thrilling exploration of a couple, Adam and Jess, as they move into their dream Victorian house. The narrative takes an unexpected turn when Adam discovers a hidden room within the house, unveiling a collection of mysterious objects. What begins as a curious investigation spirals into a chain of events that places his family in unforeseen peril.
The true strength of "The Dream Home" lies in its ability to keep readers engaged with a multifaceted plot. The quest to uncover the origins of the mysterious objects becomes a catalyst for a series of events that are both thrilling and ominous. As the tension escalates, so does the emotional investment in the characters, making it difficult to put the book down..
"The Dream Home" emerges as a must-read thriller, seamlessly blending well-developed characters, a fast-paced plot, and a captivating twist-filled resolution. The novel's ability to evoke suspense and emotion ensures its place in the minds of readers well beyond the final page.
Adam and Jess and their children have bought their dream house, but things quickly start to go wrong for them. When Adam finds a secret room and some hidden objects, he could never have imagined what would follow... A tense and thrilling book that keeps you turning the pages until the shocking ending. Brilliant, I loved it!
I loved this thriller, which is about a man called Adam, his wife Jess and their three children, who move into a new house. They find a secret hidden area in the house, which contains different treasures that hold secrets, and these treasures lead to surprises. The book is full of mystery, secrets, tension and suspense, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it! I have read other books by this author, and they have all been fantastic. Highly recommended!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
T.M. Logan is usually the master of pacing - I've been gripped by all his books except The Holiday - but The Dream Home is another rare Logan dud. The premise is promising. Adam moves into a new house with his family and discovers a secret room that looks like it hasn't been touched for decades. In the room, he finds a collection of strange and mostly valueless objects - a watch, an old Nokia phone, a scarf, an empty wallet. Having recently lost his job, Adam decides to investigate these objects, but when he receives a mysterious text message on the ancient phone, he starts to wonder if his family is in danger.
The Dream Home spins its wheels until we're almost halfway through, inexplicably holding back a key reveal about the objects that finally sets the plot in motion. There were the makings of a tense thriller here, but it takes so long to get going, and then doesn't spend enough time on the good stuff, as Adam puts the pieces together too easily. I was also annoyed by the lost-his-job plot, which doesn't go anywhere and felt like an awkward contrivance to explain why he spends so much time trying to work out where these objects came from, and why he gets rid of one of them early in the book. It's basically lampshading, as his behaviour still doesn't quite add up. Disappointing, but I'll still look out for more from Logan. If you want to read one of my favourites, I loved 29 Seconds, Trust Me and The Curfew.
Absolutely loved this book! A great thriller with a complex puzzle to solve. Authentic characters and a few red herrings along the way. The story is fast paced throughout and has a great location for the setting.
Rating: 4.2/5
When Adam and his family set foot inside their newly purchased home, 91, Regency Place, they think it is a dream come true. The large Victorian house is set in a highly desirable part of Nottingham, but it isn't long before Adam finds out that the house is even bigger than he thought when he discovers a secret room that does not appear on any of the property details. Inside that room he finds a number of items including an old mobile phone, a wallet and a very expensive watch. Adam's interest is piqued and he cannot resist the temptation to find out more about the items and how they came to be there - but his inquisitive nature soon sees him and his loved ones being exposed to threats that he would never have imagined.
I have to confess that my experiences of Tim Logan's first few books ended in varying degrees of disappointment. I found that they either flattered to deceive, or else they simply didn't live up to the amount of hype surrounding them. All of that changed when I read his excellent 2022 offering, "The Curfew" and subsequently the equally impressive, "The Mother". This latest offering adds further to my growing admiration for this author's work.
Often, the most disturbing thrillers are those where the reader is able to imagine events potentially happening in real life - and there are many aspects of "The Dream Home" that tick that box. Certain elements have definitely ensured that I will be carrying out a particularly thorough check of any future property I buy! The pace of the storytelling is top notch - there are never any lulls that could risk any sense of boredom setting in, but at the same time, the narrative is not so rushed that it gets in the way of allowing palpable tension to develop. In fact, it is fair to say that there is an ever increasing sense of background menace throughout the novel.
For the most part the characterisation is solid, but there are some elements of the protagonists' decision making processes that don't quite have the utterly convincing plausibility that was evident in "The Curfew" and "The Mother". That said, any such misgivings are not a significant obstacle to enjoying this riveting thriller and there is no question that I will be returning for Tim Logan's next offering too.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for supplying an ARC in return for an honest review.
The Dream Home by T.M. Logan.
I always enjoy reading T.M. Logan’s books and I was delighted to receive a copy of his latest story The Dream House and I was not disappointed.
A fast pace thriller that hooked me from the first page.
This story had me on the edge of my seat with lots of shady characters, creepy situations and some twist and turns.
I can’t wait for the next book by this author.

4+
Adam and Jess Wylie and their three children move into a doer-upper Victorian Villa in The Park, Nottingham, which trust me, is THE place to live with its close proximity to the castle and the city. On the top floor, Adam dismantles a wardrobe which is fitted to some wall panelling, and here he finds a hidden door concealing a room behind. This contains some furnishings, including a Welsh dresser in whose drawer Adam discovers some random items, including a Rolex watch, an address and an old flip phone. Jess wants him to get rid of the items (maybe not the Rolex!) and get on with helping with the laborious moving in process, but Adam is intrigued and wants to find us answers to the mystery of the concealed room and the potential secrets it contains. Ultimately, he will sincerely wish he had done as Jess asks.
TM Logan never disappoints, I always look forward to reading what he comes up with next, and this is another cracking read. Right from the dismantling at the start, I’m hooked and just as intrigued as Adam, so I’d probably have egged him on! The more he digs the more questions than answers are revealed and as threat levels rise, it becomes clear this is not the dream home they wish for. It’s also fair to say that Adam is obsessed and it does cost him dearly.
Although tension and suspense is one of the authors trademarks, this one is an especially suspenseful, it’s creepy right from the start and the dial on the chill factor keeps getting turned up higher and higher. There’s a good mix of the deeply weird, there are some alarming discoveries and occurrences , an ever increasing sense of paranoia and constant questioning of who can be trusted. It’s all told at a good pace, there are plenty of plot elements to keep your gripped and page turning. As for the outcome, that is nicely played as I don’t see that coming, but it makes so much sense.
Finally, the setting of this is superb, The Park, the house itself and the Nottingham environs are utilised to the max in this very good mystery thriller. Highly recommended to fans of the genre.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Bonnier Books for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.
This book is a compelling read in so many ways. It provides insight to many of the issues that arise when moving house. Many readers can immediately relate to everything that is said.
The plot was incredibly clever and definitely pulled you to turn more pages quickly! I had to hold myself back because I was reading far too fast and this impacted my level of comprehension. Red herrings everywhere reinforced my adjusted strategy. A very creative author!
The book focussed on characters you could relate too. Family relationships were challenged as the plot unfolded. This made it even more realistic!
A most enjoyable read.
Every book that I have read by T.M.Logan has gripped me and had me not wanting to put it down. This one was no different, I immediately felt immersed in the the story,
The way I was invested on this one! I didn't want to put it down. So many mysteries within a new home and the culprit of everything? I didn't expect that one coming! Can't say too much without giving spoilers so you will have to find oit yourself!
I’ve read and loved all of TM Logan’s books but The Dream Home is my new favourite! The mention of dodgy artex and random nails reminded me of moving into my current home and it’s these little details that bring Tim’s novels to life. He has a talent for creating persistent, obsessive male characters that are still somehow likeable even when you want to shout at them in frustration! Kept me guessing right up until the end which I loved. I’ll definitely be recommending The Dream Home to all of my book club members.
Thank you Netgalley, Bonnier Books and TM Logan for this ARC.
