A great second book to one of my favorite series. The wicked in me was one of my favorite reads of 2023 and I’ve been highly anticipating this book ever since. It did not disappoint. We get to follow Cane and Wynter in their journey. We also get to catch up with all of our favorite Members of the blood rose coven. We do get to learn a few more secrets in this book. However, there is still much we do not know. I really enjoyed the humor, the action in the evolving relationship between Cane and Wynter. The only thing I didn’t like was the fact that it ended, and I have to wait another year for the next book.

Arc received via NetGalley
The 2nd book in the Devil’s cradle series. Yes, I did scream when I received the arc.
The books starts off strong straight away reminding us that Aeons are still after Wynter. We are introduced finally to Eve (Cain’s mother) and other family members. We learn the truth about the Cain’s monster and are not surprised by Wynters reaction. I love the humour in Suzanne Wright’s books (did cackle with laughter at Hattie a few times) and the characters. The chemistry between Cain and Wynter is almost too hot at times and even with secrets there is a fierce loyalty between them. I cannot wait to find out more in the next book. I adore the coven and hope there is a spin off as I love Anabel and Delilah (Karma potions are the best).

So I have been waiting for this book since book 1.
It did not disappoint.
I love how Wynter & Cain’s relationship developed and what they wanted from each other.
Cain was very open with Wynter in this book about his past etc etc. (that’s all I’m saying on that matter)
You need to read this book to find out more.
I need book 3 now !
I can’t wait to read more about the Coven 😏

Absolutely brilliant as always. Suzanne wright manages to bring to life an alternative version of Adam and eve in a fresh and entertaining way without it taking over the overall story. Cain and winters relationship is developed without feeling forced and Winters Coven are once again their entertaining self making me wish I was a member. The story is told in a way that nothing is given away too soon and keeps you wanting more without the dreaded cliffhanger. I can't wait for the third installment.

I enjoyed Wicked in Me so when I saw I received an arc for The Nightmare in Him I ran to my Kindle. It's the second installment in the Devil's Cradle series and I loved it.
It picks up where book one left off, the ancients and aeons are feuding and Wynter is being hunted by Saul. Cain and Wynter are still keeping secrets from one another and they don't talk about feelings. Wynter's coven is seriously unhinged but makes for great dark humor and entertainment, you will not be bored reading this book. What I love most about this series is how dark and ruthless it is compared to her other books. Cain is alpha as ever but it was nice to see him fall hard for Wynter and want to evolve their relationship.
As the story progresses, many secrets are revealed, what Cain's monster is, the backstory on the ancients and aeons, and the reason for the war. Everything seems to click into place but there are still unanswered questions... sure to be revealed in the third book.
I like where this storyline is going, it's well crafted and I was so wrapped up in it that I devoured it in a day. We get more character depth and the attention to detail Wright has given to the plot is amazing. The bits and pieces of information coupled with shocking twists and revelations will keep you on your toes.
I highly recommend picking this one up!
Thank you, NetGalley, the publisher, and Suzanne Wright for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Unfortunately this book really let me down especially considering how much I was looking forward to it after the first book.
This book picked up where the previous one left off but in terms of plot I didn't think it moved forward or there was much of anything new added other than a couple of reveals that were set up in book 1.The scenes with Wynter's Coven just seemed like repeats of the ones in the previous and while the sex scenes were enjoyable I felt they didn't add to the relationship, tension or plot.
I did find it really frustrating that the phrase 'caught them up' was used multiple times because while I get that characters need to be informed of what happened in previous scenes they weren't involved in without it being too repetitive for the reader but the way it was done with the repeated use of this phrase was painful.
The saving grace of this book was the steadfastness of Cain and Wynter and how they trust in each other without question as this is unusual for book couples.
I know there will be lots of readers who enjoy this book but sadly it just wasn't for me

This book! Gahh took my breath away! Wright just knows how to create characters that make you feel like you’d step in front of a moving train for them, characters that embody a certain type of strong feeling that is selfless for the ones they love and, characters that linger in our minds long after the book ends. Can’t wait for the finale.

This second book in the Devil's Cradle series was full of revelations, action, magick and scorching steam,
I adored this take on the biblical tales of Adam & Eve and Cain & Abel. In a world where power is everything, are the 'good' guys actually good? Is 'evil' really the worst thing to be?
With serpents, mysterious inner monsters and deities with ulterior motives, Cain and Wynter's story is steamy, magick-filled, and chock full with the hilarious antics of her so-called 'coven'.
My only quibble is the quick switching between POVs mid-page/chapter/scene, but overall still a really good read, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

The Wicked in Me was the first Suzanne Wright book I read and loved so I was very excited to be accepted for the arc of the second book in the series.
The Nightmare in Him continues the series and follows the impending battle between Aeons and Ancients as Wynter is hunted by Saul. Wynter’s coven continues to be the most deranged found family which provides lots of hilarity throughout the book. The plot is really interesting and I’m intrigued to where it is going to go in the third book.
There is of course spice, spicy spice .. SPICY spicy spice!
I had a great time reading this book though I think some of the reveals felt a bit dragged out .. but then I couldn’t put it down.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

You know how the second book or movie in a series is typically not as good as the first?
Well, that definitely wasn't the case here.
Suzanne Wright brought the entertainment with this book. The storyline was fabulous -- just as good, if not better than the first book's. Wynter, Cain, and Wynter's coven continued to delight. And the writing took the perfect balance of humor and action.
I truly enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait for the next book in the trilogy. And if I had my way, additional books in the same 'world' featuring some of the secondary characters in the trilogy.
I'd highly recommend this book!

OMG Suzanne Wright has created a master piece. I love reading about strong women who own their strengths without belittling other people. As Priestess to the Bloodrose coven Wynter aims to keep the crazy bunch alive for as long as she is able, without going insane.
Now that she has fallen in love with an alpha male Cain, you would imagine epic power struggles between them. Suzanne is clever enough to steer away from the obvious and focused Wynter and Cain's attention on making the relationship work, by acknowledging their differences and learning that a little give and take works in most cases.
The war with the Aeon' s sparks a would be assassin, Saul who wants revenge for the death of his sister by killing Wynter .easier said than done.
The Nightmare In Him kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading it, nearly missed Christmas I was so engrossed.

Suzanne did amazing with this second book to the devils cradle series which continues with Wynters and Cains story. It's absolutely amazing. I love Wynter and her coven they are so hilarious and crazy but in a good way. I also really like the progress in the main couples relationship I like the trust and respect they have for each other the loyalty passion and bickering. The action was great as well. I recommend this series.

When I started reading ‘The Nightmare in Him’ I had no idea it was a second book of a trilogy, which means I missed a lot of context going in to this book.
But I still enjoyed a lot and made me curious enough to want to check out the first book and to wait for the next one.
The characters are very complex and I just want to know the rest of the story.
The author writes a very compelling story.

Thank you Netgalley and Little,Brown Book Group UK for this ARC. I can easily say that I am obsessed with Suzanne Wright books. She is awesome 😍. Congratulations to her for another fantastic book " The Nightmare In Him" . This is the second book in the Devil's Cradle series. This story starts few months after the war in the first book. The relationship of Cain and Wynter is going strong and he wants her as his consort. The threat is also looming on them in the form of The Aeons. This book finally disclose the secret behind Cain's monster which was really interesting to read.Another war happens in the end of this book and The Ancients are just one step away from their freedom.I enjoyed this book so much . Desperately waiting for the final book

I again loved this installment of this series. I can't say all i want to due to spoilers so I will write a more in depth review after release. It is refreshing to have a series where the two main characters implicitly trust each other and don't have all the drama connected to miscommunication and the influences of nefarious side characters. This story delves you into a seductive world of mortal foes, magic, laugh out loud humour and Sizzling sensual promise leaving you desperately wanting more.
The twists and turns are not predictable and I have to say nothing that I assumed was going to happen, actually happened, something else entirely happened, which kept me on my toes and keeps your interest piqued and intently engaged throughout.
The only critique I would have is that the reveal of Cains secrets was a bit too dragged out for me. It was almost the end of this book before the action really got going and the big reveals that were being built up to in book one were actually revealed. Still leaving big reveals that have been heavily built up to untouched. So I assume these will be revealed in book 3.
I definitely recommend this series to all.

Suzanne does it again! Coming back to Wynter and Cain's story has been so exciting! We finally get more information about what Cain is and it's nothing I would've expected. The intrigue surrounding the Ancients and Aeons continues and we learn more about what's happening to the Aeons home and of course there's battles and funny exchanges between the members of the Bloodrose Coven 🤣. It was WELL WORTH the wait!

Thank you Net galley for allowing me to have an arc
In this book we find out what Cain is and hides, and what he is didn't surprise me....the other secrets did
As for the betrayal my head went there as soon as i'd ruled out the others, but i still have unanswered questions that i really don't want to wait another year for 🤣🤣
The coven are my favourite group and i now have a new quite to use on my other friends 'goddam bookblockers', couldn't stop laughing over that. Especially with the reason for it being said
Love Cain and Wynter and how they stand strong through everything together. Can't wait for the next installment as this has fast become a favorite series of mine

We are back with the Ancients and the Aeons. The Ancients are at Devil's Cradle. Wynter Dellavale is still there with her coven. The Aeons want her back with them (though this would almost certainly lead to Wynter's death). This is book 2 and the first chapter does give something of a resume of the previous book which would allow a new reader to get up to date fairly quickly. Wynter is still involved with Cain who is an Ancient and there is a fair amount of steamy erotica (again)! To call Cain possessive of Wynter would be a vast understatement. All he really wants to possess Wynter eternally (!) but could that really happen?
If you haven't already you really should read The Wicked in Me first if nothing else to find out far more about Wynter's background. While she is a very powerful witch she is also a revenant of sorts and has within her a creature of one of the gods. However people who read book one will know that Cain is not a simple character either - be prepared to find out more about him! As far as this book is concerned the main focus is on Cain and Wynter however the pressure from the Aeons to get Wynter back increases steadily. Equally there is something of a rogue actor among the Aeons who wants their own revenge on Wynter.
I did enjoy reading this 2nd book. While the activities of the Aeons and the Ancients may be centre stage I really liked the aspects that were about Wynter's coven again. They are such a varied group and can be very very entertaining! For those who have wondered exactly what the Aeons and the Ancients actually are these is quite a "reveal" which I enjoyed. If I were being picky I would have to say I didn't find this book quite as compelling as the first one though I'd be hard pushed to explain exactly why I feel that - it may simply be that book one felt very fresh while this is a continuation.

The Nightmare In Him is the second installment in the Devil’s Cradle series and is sincerely a series worth picking up if you love romantasy teeming with spice, humour, and power.
Each of the characters are fierce, bloodthirsty, and often quite deranged. Particularly Wynter Dellavale’s coven of a bunch of ragtag outcasts with murderous tendencies. Of course, Wynter herself is the queen of killing with an unearthly monster lurking under the surface of her skin, and she’s also the monster in Cain’s bed. As the saying goes, freak in the sheets; homicidal witch on the streets, right?
The kooky humour in Suzanne Wright’s books is what really makes me fall in love with this series. I mean, us humans are multifaceted, of course if we wielded magick we’d make vengeful, bizarre, and unwise choices, and SW plays on that in these books.
I was a little bit let down that I didn’t have all the answers that I wanted, and I would have liked a more drawn out battle at the end because that was easily my favourite part. I have a feeling that the next installment in this series will blow my mind. All I’m really saying is that I would 100% sell my soul for this series.

When I asked for the ARC, I had no idea this was book 2 but I'm so happy I could read both in one go and now can't wait for book 3! I absolutely admired everything. There isn't anything that doesn't work from the romance, the characters, the humor, the plot. I devoured both books over a weekend.
The hype is definitely well placed here.
