This one was very eye opening. Making the reader rethink how one looks at the AIDS endemic both past and present. Or at least it did me.
A poignant memoir of a man who survived AIDS and lived a full life giving back to the community. He is famously known as the man with AIDS who was interviewed by Tammy Faye Baker (also referenced in the movie with Jessica Chastain). We learn what it was like to experience the loss of friends and living with the fear and health issues associated with getting this little understood disease back in the 1980"s. I don't want to spoil anything except to say this is an incredibly personal story of a man's journey as well as providing historical context of the AIDS epidemic.
Thank you to Netgalley and Rowman & Littlefield for an ARC and I left this review voluntarily.
