I am officially hooked on this series! This book focuses on December and Liam who we were teased about in book 1 and man am I happy we got their story. This was like a friend to lovers that can never be trope involving shifters.

We pick up right where we left off. Liam has realized that December is his mate and has all but vocalized this to her, but she has made it clear she only wants to be friends for reasons she has not shared with him. December had recently been attacked and almost kidnapped and so Liam has devoted himself to staying at her place since she will not come stay at the shifter ranch with him. There is a dangerous radical group called the AntiParanormal League that has been out to get their hands on people associated with Liam's pack and he is not taking any chances with December.

Meanwhile December loves and hates the fact that Liam has made his intentions clear. She tries to go on a date even to make it clear to Liam that she wants to be friends. However the date takes a turn for the worst and December is almost kidnapped again. She starts to realize that she needs Liam more than she wants to admit in more ways than one. She hasn't opened up to him though to let him know why she is holding back. Her family has had a tragic past with shifters, and she doesn't know if her brother will be able to forgive her if she takes the next step and makes Liam hers. Is it worth it? She decides yes but then of course Liam has second thoughts because he doesn't want to ruin December's future- the third act happens hard. But all is well that ends well- and now she is pregnant with his baby which will be the first pup the pack has had in a long time.

I liked their dynamic a lot. I liked the angst knowing they both want each other but Liam is trying to respect her space and she is trying to protect herself. The buildup was pretty awesome as usual and when things happened they were nice and steamy. These two have wonderful chemistry! I am so glad that Lia got his head out of his ass and decided to commit to his mate. I am enjoying all of these characters and looking forward to Jayce and Kat which are in the next one.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review! I hope you guys enjoy this as much as I did.

This is the second book in the series and I keep wanting more and more! I love how each book sets us up perfectly for the next couple that we will see more of.

“I plan to get very familiar with you soon, Red.”

December tells Liam they can’t be together even after the times he’s looked out and protected her.

From the past and what happened to her brother. To the APL members going after anyone associated with shifters. She believes it’s best to stay away from Liam and for him to move on. But Liam will never let his mate go.

“Shifters act a certain way around their mates. They might not be officially together, but he feels for her the way I feel for you. I saw it on his face.”

Jayce, the enforcer, is in town and worried about Kat. He will always have feelings for her even though he believes they can never be together.

“Fine, do whatever it is you’re going to do. Just don’t think you can keep pushing me out of your life and think we will have a future together.”

Liam finally convinces December to stay on the farm with him so that she will be protected by him and the pack while the APL is getting more dangerous by the second.

My heart went out to Kat when she was taken.

“I’m sorry. If I don’t at least try this, Jayce will kill me.”

I can’t believe that happened! Now, this changes so many things. I’ve already read the next book so I know what happens😉.

Each book keeps getting better and better from the love, action-packed, mystery. I’m completely obsessed with this series🔥.

Thank you, Katie Reus and Netgalley for this EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram @Alexandriavwilliams_ shortly.

This book was good. I had different mixed feelings about them than the 1st book's couple.

Liam was infinitely patient. Sure, he was protective, but I felt like his pushing was minimal. December's 'secret' was annoying. It felt like something to put out there on Day 1 and move forward. It was tragic, but nothing was going to change it.
It was difficult to like Parker. He obviously appreciates Liam is capable and willing to project December, but then he wants to be prejudiced? It didn't make a lot of sense. I want Parker to have a story. I can see the full list of books and he isn't one. I am crossing my fingers he at least gets a pairing in the background.

I am fairly sure I read Kat and Jayce's book originally, but I look forward to it again.

Liam and December are such a cute couple!! I haven't read the other books in this series yet but I have loved their story! They were both very well rounded characters who I felt like I knew well by the time the book ended. I cheered for them when they decided to make it work and I hurt for them when the tragedies in their lives happened or were revealed. The "side" characters are also very well done as well. We see Connor and Anna who I assume were in the previous book and I love interconnected stories! Liam wasn't the alpha of the pack but this didn't detract from him and how strong he can't across at all. Sometimes characters can come across as weak when they aren't THE alpha so I really appreciated that in this story. Strong female relationships are always a plus in my book so seeing Kat and December be the best of friends throughout this was great. The lonely, I have no friends, idea is sometimes hard to imagine. I am going to go back and read the previous book and for sure continue this series. If recommend it to others!

The spice in this book was nice. It was kind of a show burn but it was hot when it did happen. Short but sweet is give it a 3 out of 5. Overall I'd give this book a 3 out of 5 as well. I enjoyed it and I would recommend it but Jayce and Kat? I've got to have their story. The way things played out for them in the background of this story was so interesting!! My negative were that it bounced around from POVs A LOT. Like nearly each chapter was a different person. Which kind of detracted from Liam and December because I was so hooked on what the heck was happening with the other couple that I almost was sad when we bounced back to their POV! Other that, this was a solid read. Go check it out!!

Loved the story. It grabbed my attention at the beginning and held it until the very end. It’s action packed with constant danger lurking. This story leads into the next because the danger is still close by. I loved Liam and December as they are both strong characters and are a great match for each other. I love shifter stories and this is a great one to read.

Liam is second in command of the Armstrong pack. He has found his mate in town but she's human and there are obstacles to overcome in order to be together. December is drawn to Liam, but she has issues being with a shifter. The two of them realize that the bad guys will just keep coming for December because of her ties to Liam. Can they overcome their issues? Can they build lasting love?

I really liked how the author built onto the earlier stories. Liam's obsession with December came close to crossing the line into creepy but the author pulled back before that. December had good reasons to be concerned about being with a shifter and her acceptance that Liam is meant to be her mate. As the danger mounts they have to work together. The way the story developed made a lot of sense. There is a subplot involving some side characters. It is very difficult to read so I am giving a warning.

My one issue with the story was the fact that Liam stayed away from December in hopes that the APL will leave December alone. It was established in a prior story that the APL will not leave someone alone after they have dated a shifter. That element ran through the entire story and it was distracting.

This is a contemporary paranormal romance. I think you need to read this series from the beginning because this story builds on the prior stories. I will definitely read more from this author in the future.

This was a good book. I would give it 3.5 stars. In some places its very slow there are also some times when it is hard to follow who we are focusing on.

Primal Possession is part of a series and can be read as a stand-alone story, but readers might benefit to the character development if they read book 1.

Katie Reus is able to pack a punch in her stories which characters readers will fall in love with, and the push pull of their love hate relationship. The story is a quick read with steamy romance Katie Reus is known for and well written for readers of PR.
The author in a was able to add a message using the Anti-Paranormal League group. To remind everyone that bias and hate that can happen to those who are different from a group of people.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of Primal Possession.

I am really enjoyed this shifters series. I love in this world we not only get shifters, but also vampires and other supernatural beings. The characters and behaviors of these shifters were created unique unlike some of the other shifter books I have read. With the tension building between a group in town who … aren’t the friendliest to say the least. Any human involved with the shifters are in danger. Especially a human mated to a shifter. Enter December, whose older brother can’t let go of the past. This book has some intense moments, I laughed, I cried. But ultimately, I was rooting for Leo and December. I mean who doesn’t love an overprotected mate in a book? Excited for book 3 to come out!

From the blurb:
"Bookshop owner December is no stranger to loss—her younger brother was murdered by a shifter years ago. After resettling in the quiet mountain town of Fontana she’s finally made a life for herself, including befriending local shifters. But now she’s been targeted by a human hate group, forcing her to turn to a bossy wolf who’s convinced they’re mates. She thinks the very thought is ridiculous, but if she wants to survive, she’ll have to find a way to trust him. Before it’s too late for both of them."
I admit I didn't read the first book, and at first I was a bit lost. But the author does a good job explaining a little of what happened so I didn't feel like I missed much. I like how independent December is even with the huge overprotective shifter hovering around her all the time. I felt bad for Liam when he was feeling guilty over bringing all the trouble to December but I still wanted to kick him for abandoning her, especially when the danger was still there. His groveling at the end was super sweet especially with her shocking news. I can't wait to read the continuation of Kat and Jayce's story next!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for an advanced copy of the 2nd edition of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed Primal Possession a bit more than Alpha Instinct. I had the general same pros and cons as the first book in the series, but this story worked a little better in my opinion. I'm starting to struggle with a lot of the gendered language and gender essentialism that pops up in these books, so I don't know how long I'll stick with this series, but I did generally enjoy this book.

December is determined to ignore her feelings for Liam. Liam is never going to give up until December accepts that she is his and will do anything he can to keep her safe while she is deciding. Liam knew that things were going to be dangerous with this group that is after them but when they go after his family and December he isn’t holding back. Will December get her feelings in order and get her brother to be okay with her being around shifters? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

December should have been honest with Liam at the start about why she had a few misgivings about shifters and her history. But Liam had his own issues as well. Still enjoyed the multiple story lines.

Can December overcome the fear of her past encounter with a werewolf to give Liam a chance?

The APL is back to being a thorn in the werewolf pack’s side. This time around there is only one main enemy, but the organization consists of several individuals making separate attempts at attacking the pack. They don’t seem super organized, though. It is also implied that there is a bigger boss that is higher up, but we don’t find out a lot about that individual and I’m getting more and more curious.

December is sweet and she is wary of getting involved with Liam, even though she can’t seem to stay away. She slowly starts to trust him and he is always there to look out for her. Their story arc and budding romance are interesting and captivating. Though, I have to admit, Kat and Jayce garnered more intrigue and I can’t wait to find out what is in store for them.

Liam and December’s story wrap up nicely at the end, but there are enough hints at more to come. Again, this is a good, solid read. I can recommend it if you like steamy romance with werewolves.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and KR Press for the E ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

3.5 Stars. I wanted to love this book so much more than I did. I was already invested in Liam and Decembers story since the last book. Unfortunately, I think this book tried to do too much at once and I would have preferred less elements with them executed better.

This book is December and Liam's story. Liam knew from the moment he saw December that she was his mate, but with her being human it wasn't that simple. December has some traumatic past events that make her believe that no matter how much she likes Liam, they would never work out. On top of that there is an anti-paranormal league in town that wants to get rid of shifters.

The good: The banter between Liam and December, The Armstrong-Cordona pack, more Vivian appearances, getting to learn more about Kat and Jayce showing up.

The not so good: Too many different POVS, too much going on with the APL, Drama With Kat and Jayce, Fae, December's brother, trope at the last 1/4 and basically December and Liam in the last quarter felt out of character for me and their relationship just felt kind of cheapened.

Overall, I don't think this is a bad book my any means, nor does it deter me from continuing the series. It just wasn't my personal favorite. I am still very excited for Kat and Jayce's story in the next one.

Action packed shifter story. I’ve never read this author before but it was an interesting story, light on the romance. The multiple POVs were a bit confusing.

Thanks Net Galley and KR Press for the temporary ARC to review.

I flew through this series and can’t wait for more with this community, pack, series and author! It is a re-release, but I am new to the author so it is my first time reading. Liam and December have a tangible chemistry and a great dialogue as they have to overcome a significant problem regarding having a relationship between a human and wolf. Along with their romance we get a mystery that impacts all of the pack, wolves in general, and the town. Some group is out to bring down the wolf and paranormal so there is kidnappings, torture, and general nastiness to people associated with the pack. We learn more about wolf culture with enforcers and also see the potential for two more romances in the future. The story has a fast pace and is well balanced with colorful action scenes, entertaining dialogue, and vivid world building.

Overall, I enjoyed this novel and it made for a quick, easy read. The main characters - December and Liam - were an interesting match but they worked as a couple. Their banter was entertaining, they had decent chemistry, and they were pretty cute together. This novel was well written, the action moved swiftly, and the plot was engaging.
