This was another great thriller from Daniel Hurst. I haven't read one so far that wasn't great! The twist at the ending was a complete surprise; I did not expect it at all. The book shows how much a family will go thru together to take revenge for their loved one being bullied!

What a wonderful quick read. A true Daniel Hurst story with a giant twist. A school bully, a suicide, a loving family and revenge. All of these are ties up in a story that proves the power of love and keeping secrets. A family in turmoil and a surprising resolution. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this great book. I would definitely recommend it.

I found this book utterly irresistible!! Who could resist the lure of finding out what lengths 2 desperate parents would go to to protect their son from a bully who has already caused one child to take their own life?! This is a promise that is 100% delivered in this, the latest offering from Daniel Hurst. Possibly my favourite of his standalone books to date, but they have all been utter joy so it's a tough call!

This is a book that shows what lengths families will go to to protect their own, it is written in a way that is utterly gripping, highly readable, and in a style that is trademark of this author. It is 100% a book that demands to be enjoyed! Easily a 5* read from me!

My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.

Daniel Hurst has done it again! This book shows you the lengths parents will go to protect their child. When their teenage son is bullied, from the town menace Mason, parents Guy and Sara take matters into their own hands. Masonโ€™s combative parents, the school, the police donโ€™t seem to care enough to help Jacob from the harassment.
I felt rage myself at times reading this book, bullying has to be one of the most cowardly acts and the effects it has on not only the person being bullied, but their loved ones is staggering.
You think you have this one figured out, but I donโ€™t think you will!
Great read, highly recommend.

I never miss a Daniel Hurst book, and this one touched on something very important to me, which is bullying. As a high school teacher for nearly 25 years, I've seen the devastating effects that words and actions can have on adolescents, and recently, our community was touched by the tragic suicide of a middle school aged girl due to this very issue.

Fifteen-year-old Jacob is suddenly withdrawn, and for his involved parents Guy and Sara, they want to fix whatever is wrong. An argument with a friend, a rejection from a girl...it's all part of growing up. But Jacob's parents find that he has caught the unwanted attention of Mason, a boy with a dark past. Reading about Jacob's suffering and embarrassment at the hands of his bully was difficult, and the conflicting emotions his parents went through was so perfectly written.

What does a parent do when the school won't take action, the bully's parents are just as nasty as he is, and the police say there isn't much they can do? It's not a stretch of the imagination to say that you take matters into your own hands.

This was a high action, tautly paced thriller that handled a difficult subject matter with care. You will become deeply invested in the story of these characters. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the early read. This title will publish January 4, 2024.

Boy beats up another boy. The victim's parents want justice. And for the first half of the book, this is how it went. I couldn't believe it would be that straightforward, because this is Daniel Hurst and in his books, straightforward doesn't exist,

And then, there it is.... BOOM! A gut punch of a twist that turned everything on it's head - I literally gasped out loud and found myself holding my breath through most of the second half of the book. How far will a normal family go, to protect the ones they love?

Punchy, pacy and twisty; a great read!

4.5/5โญ๏ธ Thanks to Netgalley, Daniel Hurst and Bookouture, for an ARC in return for an honest review.

With a title like this one, you know something powerful is going down! When a couple is having a hard time connecting with their son, they will stop at nothing to get back their once happy-go-lucky son.
When they finally find out that their childโ€™s safety has been violated, they seek out revenge. Their son is the target of another child who has done this before and nothing was done. This story was not what I expected, but truly had me invested. As a parent we want the best for our kids, and when they are hurt we will stop at nothing to make them better.

Sara and Guy are happily married, they have a daughter who has just started college and a 15 year old son, Jacob. Life is just about perfect, until Jacob starts to act strangely. Sara is sure something is wrong but Guy tells her she's just being overly worried. Then Guy notices bruises on Jacob and confronts his son. Apparently, Jacob is being bullied and beaten by a fellow classmate, Mason. Mason is a known bully and the cause of a young girl in the community committing suicide. Sara and Guy are terrified for Jacob. When Jacob ends up in the hospital with severe injuries caused by Mason, Guy and Sara know that the police will do nothing, so they decide to take matters into their own hands.
This was a super quick read because I was absolutely engrossed in the outcome. The ending was definitely a surprise!
As someone who enjoys Dateline and true crime podcasts, I really couldn't get on board with the incompetence of the police in this story. Although, maybe they just didnโ€™t care, Mason and his family weren't exactly loved by the community.

I know something was wrong. It's a mother's instinct. I could tell when my son started hiding things from me. He used to walk to school with a mischievous grin on his beautiful face. Now he avoids eye contact and keeps his head down. Since I discovered he was being bullied by a classmate, I've spent every day worrying, my stomach churning with anxiety from the moment he leaves the house to the second he walks back through the door. Everyone keeps telling me I'm overreacting, but I won't risk my child's safety. My husband and I try to talk to the other boy's parents, but it only makes things worse.

Oh how I love a Daniel Hurst book. He knows which buttons to press to get your emotions going. At times, he got me so angry that I wanted to lash out at certain characters, other times I wanted to hug other characters as I felt their pain. Sara and Guy's son is being bullied. The story is told in alternating chapters by Sara and Guy. You could feel their pain through the pages. This is an emotional and dark read.

I would like to thank #NetGalley #Bookouture and the author #DanielHurst for my ARC of #TheCoujplesRevenge in exchange for an honest review.

I have always enjoyed books by Daniel Hurst and this one was another that fell into this category. Our children are so precious to us that we really struggle mentally when their lives are threatened and unhappiness consumes them, the mumma bear does come out in us and all we wish to do is protect our kids and make things right for them again. The teenage years can really be hard to deal with for many and if not careful can lead them to carry some of these dilemmas in their minds and souls for many years to come. Told from different POV's we get a strong insight into these families lives and how actions can consume us all. Captivating from page one and a story I breezed through at a fast pace, you are always guaranteed a great read by this author.

The Couple's Revenge is a story involving bullying. A topic of concern for parents everywhere.

Sara becomes concerned when her teenager starts acting differently and is hiding things from her. She eventually learns that he is being bullied. The parents of the other child are of no help, they are bullies themselves.

When things escalate between the two teen boys, something has got to change. But what?

Was not expecting where the story went next.

I couldn't read this one fast enough to find out what happens. It sure wasn't what I thought.

Daniel Hurst is great. I've loved every book I've read so far. I often recommend his books to fellow readers.

Thanks to netgalley and Bookouture for the arc.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutre for the advanced copy of Daniel Hurstโ€™s, The Coupleโ€™s Revenge, due to be published January 4, 2024.
Sara knew something was wrong with Jacob. He never comes home from school without gobbling down a sandwich. So, one day when he goes straight to his room, she suspects there is more going on than being hungry or tired. โ€œIโ€™m his mother. Iโ€™ll always worry about him.โ€
After discovering he is being bullied by a classmate, Sarah is constantly worried every time he leaves the house. Talking to the bullyโ€™s parents doesnโ€™t help, either.
When Jacob gets hurt, Sara knows she must take the matter into her own hands. But how far will she go to get revenge for her son?
I have read all of Daniel Hurstโ€™s books, so I was excited to get this one!
I devoured it in one day, and it did not disappoint. The characters were good, I couldnโ€™t wait to find the ending, and I didnโ€™t guess it at all โ€“ a perfect thriller.
I canโ€™t wait to read Daniel Hurstโ€™s next book โ€“ he is one of my favorite authors!

Another brilliant, addictive book from one of my favourite authors who never disappoints.

Extremely well written as always, great characters and I was on the edge of my seat throughout. A great storyline with an even greater finish.

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC which I have no hesitation in recommending.

My only negative comment is that this author's books are just not long enough!

This author is definitely becoming one of my all time favourites all of his books that I have read have all been fantastic and this one was no exception. I was hooked from the very beginning and kept me guessing until the very end. It is a fantastic emotional thriller which shows how much a parent will do to protect their child. I really enjoyed the writing style told from the perspectives of both parents which I think helped build the tension. Highly recommend this to everyone fantastic read. Thanks to netgallery and the publisher for my advanced copy.
