Ooof - as a parent AND a teacher, this one hit a little too close to home! As someone who's been bullied myself, it's a topic that I feel strongly about and also something I fear happening in the future with my own child. I've been a fan of Hurst's ever since picking up the "Doctor" series, and this one contained the same kind of suspense and twists. Some of the parts lagged a bit, but quickly picked up as we made our way to the end. I definitely didn't see this ending coming! Fans of Frieda McFadden would also love this one as well as Hurst's other novels. Thanks for the ARC!

this book made me so so sad, poor jacob honestly, the amount of stuff that happened in this book kept me on my toes though!!! once i picked this book up i could not put it down, it was truly outstanding for such a short story, i thought the ending was going to be rushed but it wasn’t, ALSO - to add, THAT ENDING!!?? THE TWISTS AND TURNS WERE ABSOLUTELT UNREAL, I did not expect that ending and guessed wrong lmao. this book was rly rly good though! (:

Sara and Guy have a teenage son named Jacob that suddenly began acting differently. His parents were very concerned and worried that he may be getting bullied at school.
While out with Jacob … Guy notices bruising when he lifts his shirt. That is when he confessed that he was being bullied.
I won’t divulge the name of the bully… however , the story continues on about Jacob’s parents attempts at stopping the bullying. How far will they go to stop it? You’ll be surprised.
Loved the characters… very realistic.
I definitely would recommend this book.

I received this book from NetGalley, I have read a few of Daniel Hurst’s book. This one started a bit slow for me. It took me awhile to get into it.

About 30% in was when the story started getting better. It started to become the page turner I remembered from previous books.

I was able to figure out who the murderer was pretty early on, but I still had fun reading the plot twist unfold. The book definitely gives you an anxious feeling and of course there was some heavy details such as suicide and bullying so you definitely want to keep that in mind before picking up this book.

I felt the book was decent and I’m happy I read it.

There was a great twist to this story, however, it was hard to get there. I just couldn't get on board with the revenge the couple had planned. It just seemed too far fetched for me.

I have read a few of this authors books and enjoyed them and this one was no exception. It was a fast paced psychological thriller with a unique storyline that kept my attention. I would recommend this book

Daniel hurst never disappoints. This is a fast paced revenge driven story that sadly could be true to life. It tries to answer that question how far wpuld you go to protect your family. Told from thebpov of Sara and Gus as tgey deal with the reality of their son being builles by a known billy who caused the suicide of zoe 3 years previously.

I loved all the characters and the insights were so true. Although Jacob was the victim the impacr on him was told via the interactions with his family was a skillful story telling tool. The final twist reveal was as always an omg. Loved every second of this. I will uodate this when i have finished my audio version.

Really enjoyed this book and as a parent it really pulled me in. Great style of writing, kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen.

Daniel Hurst is an Amazon #1 bestselling author of fast-paced psychological thrillers. His most popular titles include Til Death Do Us Part, The Passenger, and The Doctor's Wife, the latter title reaching #1 on the Amazon UK Kindle store in February 2023. A regular KDP Select All Star since he became a full-time author in 2021, Daniel prides himself on writing fast, releasing stories often and engaging with his readers.

The twist in the book was excellent. I love getting lost in a Daniel Hurst thriller. How he creates these characters and storylines that hold you hostage is fantastic.

This was a heavy topic, but I felt it was handled well. Bullying is a challenging situation for kids and parents to go through. I did find Sara and Guy a tad overbearing for having a 15-year-old. It was not about how they handled the situation when they discovered Jacob being bullied, more so every other aspect of his life.

I devoured this book. It is fast-paced and chaotic in the best way. The moral dilemmas in this book were well done and allowed the reader to ask what they would do.

Personally, as a devoted (and crazy, as my niece would say) auntie, I can assure you I would go absolutely feral. While I may not handle things the same as in the book, I would cause quite the scene at the home of the bully.

I love Daniel’s worst so much. It is brilliant how such a kind human can write such dark, twisted stories. I’m ready for the next one, bestie!

SPOILER ALERT
I was not impressed particularly by this book which had a great opening few chapters but soon fell from that level. The characters were never really developed but the big problem for me ( and here is the SPOILER) I hate it when everything is resolved by reading a diary especially when the entries are so detailed as to be almost an essay for each day. How likely is that actually ever going to happen? It’s a lazy way of giving a conclusion.

LOVED IT it was unpredictable, twisty and kept me guessing. Great pacing and great characters, I would recommend

I have read a few of Daniel Hurst's books and I found this one to be an okay book. I was able to figure out the killer fairly easily and for a short book it seemed like it could have been even shorter. Not one of my favorites.

The Couple's Revenge by Daniel Hurst aptly embodies the statement 'sometimes you have to give someone a taste of their own medicine'. In his latest release, Hurst explores the age-old problem of bullying and the extent a parent/parents would go to protect their child while treating his readers to a fast-paced tale. One which will keep readers turning the pages to the end.


The story introduces readers to Sara, Guy, and Jacob. Sara and Guy are Jacob's parents. Being a close-knit family, it didn't take long for Sara to recognize the sudden change in Jacob's behaviour. Soon after, both she and Guy discovers their son is being bullied. To make matters worse, the person responsible is a serial bully. Someone whose actions in the past led to a young girl committing suicide. Fearing the same fate may reach their son, Sara and Guy took matters in their own hands. This was after being dismissed by the school and the police.

The Couple's Revenge had all the markings of an addictive thriller.  I soon found myself completely immersed into the story. The fact that I read it in one sitting spoke volumes. I couldn't put it down. I needed to know if Guy and Sara would have the courage to carry out their plan and if so would they be successful. Most of all, could they accomplish their plan without any repercussions.

Hurst aptly demonstrates how bullying is a learnt behaviour, while shedding light on the negative effect it places on the victim and by extension their family. He does all this while infusing suspense into the situation. Emotions ran high throughout the story, and this led to many questionable actions on the part of Guy and Sara.

While I predicted most of what would transpire, the ending threw me for a loop. Now, that outcome I did not expect. The Couple's Revenge delivered a thought-provoking tale. One which evoked a myriad of emotions and have wondering what would they do in such a situation. Overall, a riveting tale which fans of psychological Thrillers will find fascinating.

1. Jason, the victim didn't have a POV and I really really wanted it. I'd have loved to read a live event of Mason's atrocities
2. The dual timeline was not extensive enough. I'd have wanted a then/now timeline, but it was not like that
3. I liked the storyline, but I felt it was not thrilling enough, there was not enough danger or police interviews.

I absolutely love this author. His plot twists and writing style is right up there with Freida McFadden, this book had me again, picking my jaw up off the floor with the twist. Love this book, easy 5 star read for me.

So he is not only an auto buy author for me but a top of the TBR pile, can't wait to read that book next, author for me. Every single book has me wishing I was watching it so I could yell at a TV screen instead of my phone screen but such is life and this was no different. The characters development was on point. The plot twist was magnificent. It left me feeling.

"Bullies are the lowest of the low and need to be stopped before they do any more damage."

Sara and Guy have a pretty mundane home life until their teen son Jacob starts getting trouble from the infamous neighborhood bully, Mason. Mason bullies people like it's his job. A local girl killed herself from his bullying and yet he continues. Someone has to put a stop to this once and for all. I love to dress for revenge.

The first half of this was so good but it started to fall flat when true revenge time came. My guy Hurst usually goes all in so I was expecting more! It got a little too twisty when simple revenge was all that was advertised and necessary. It's hard to give a critique without spoiling it and I don't want to do that because even though this wasn't my favorite D. Hurst book, it was still good and worth the journey to the end.

The storyline is very timely. Once again Daniel Hurst has created a fast paced read that captures the reader’s interest immediately. The Couple’s Revenge is a story that anyone aware of bullying in their home/community, will likely relate to. I found the ending a little out there and wrapped up too neatly, but liked how the story was written from both Sara and Guy’s perspectives as the parents. Bullying continues to be too prevalent in our schools and our communities.
