"Revenge is a dish best served cold," - Pierre Choderlos de Laclos
Daniel Hurst has delivered another gripping, hard to put down, book that sucked me in from the very beginning. Completely addicting! I didn't want to put it down as I was fully invested in the story. This is an addictive tale of bullying and revenge.
Sara knows something is wrong when her fifteen-year-old son Jacob comes home after school and is not acting as he normally does. She and her husband, Guy soon learn that their son is being bullied by another boy at his school. How far will they go to protect their son. Why is bullying so rampant? So scary that anyone has to deal with this in their lives.
Daniel Hurst takes on a very serious subject- Bullying. I thought he did a great job showing how bullying affects an individual. The many physical and emotional scars that bullying leaves. In this book, Jacob experiences shame, guilt, fear, anxiety, embarrassment, and anger because of being bullied. His parents also experience many emotions because of what happens to him.
I was drawn to the characters; I could feel their emotions jumping off the pages. How far will parents go to protect their child/children? I felt for them the entire time even as they did some concerning things. When emotions are high, sometimes judgement goes a little awry.
I found this book to be thought provoking and evoking emotion. What would I have done as a parent in this situation? How could this have been better resolved? There were two questions that went thought my mind while reading. I believe some of the magic in Hurst's books is that he takes real life issues/situations that readers can relate to and has his characters approaching them in some OTT ways.
This was a nicely paced book that kept me turning the pages. The ending was a shocker. I did not see that coming at all.
Does Daniel Hurst ever take a day off? I doubt it as he pumps out books at warp speed! I'm already looking forward to reading another one of his books.
Addictive, thought provoking, hard to put down and well written.

Another thriller by Daniel Hurst. This one follows parents Sara and Guy and their two children Jacob and Amber.
I found this slow and didn’t feel it picked up pace until over half way through.
A good premise focusing on bullying, revenge and how far you would go for your children.

I have read and enjoyed several of Daniel’s books and this was no exception. A great storyline about the difficult subject of bullying and the consequences it can have on families. Fast paced with a twist I didn’t see happening. A great book, I highly recommend this book and author.

Another brilliant read from Daniel Hurst! I’ve read many of his books and was super excited to get my hands on the couples revenge.
When Jacob comes home from school one afternoon and shuts himself away in his bedroom his mother Sara knows straight away that something is wrong with her boy. After trying to get to the bottom of things with her son but having little luck she confides in her husband Guy.
Eventually Guy gets a reluctant Jacob to open up after seeing some bruising on his son whilst they attend a football match. It soon becomes clear Jacob is being bullied by a serial bully. The same bully who is responsible for a young girl taking her own life after making her life a living hell.
Guy takes matters into his own hands and is convinced he has put Mason off bullying his son. A few weeks later Jacob comes home from the park having been badly beaten up. At this point Guy and Sara decide to take revenge on Mason by taking matters into their own hands and ensuring he can never hurt their son or anyone else ever again.
At the start I found the couples revenge quite predictable and very straight forward however as the book goes on their is a huge twist thrown into the mix throwing up lots of questions not only for the readers but for Sara and Guy. It was very cleverly twisted in which is one of the things that keeps drawing me back to Daniel Hursts books.
Thank you to NetGalley the publisher and the author for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for this review.

This book was amazing. I could not put it down because the story is so engaging and well written. I loved the way it unfolded and took you on a journey into the characters world.

A mother will always protect their child especially when they fear their son is being bullied. Sara will do everything she can to protect her son from the bullying from his classmate. What will she do to put an end to this, and how far will she go ?
Another brilliant psychological thriller by Daniel Hurst. Fast paced and suspenseful, and kept my interest the whole way through, and wow what a twist. I really didn't expect that !! Thank you Daniel and NetGalley for my ARC.

This is my first time reading a Daniel Hurst novel and I found it similar to reading a Freida McFadden thriller. The plot is enough to keep you interested but parts of the story (especially the ending) were unrealistic and predictable. I didn’t connect with any of the characters, I found the parents behaviour to be rather erratic and the wife was constantly jumping over the fact that her husband had a bit of an alcohol issue. The entire conflict in the first half of the book was repetitive but the second half saved the book. While the ending was unrealistic, the lead up to the final twist was well written and kept my interest.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC copy of this book!

Guy and Sarah have a lovely life with their two children Jacob and Amber. Sarah works from home so she could be there to make Jacobs after school sandwich despite he’s in high school he still looks forward to the treat from his mom every day and on the day he comes home ignoring her and going straight to his room and slamming the door Sarah knows immediately something is wrong. When she calls Guy to tell him he even skips a pint with the boys to rush home and see what’s wrong with his son Jacob. This is when the couple finds out that the boy Mason who drove another man’s daughter to commit suicide by bullying has started in on their boy and Guy isn’t putting up with it. When he goes to speak to Mason Nolan‘s dad it doesn’t go the way Guy thought it would. Because Guy learns the apple doesn’t fall far from the bullying tree it seems Mason’s dad is just as violent and provoking as his son Mason after the two fathers get in a fistfight the police are called but it isn’t Nolan‘s dad get in trouble the guy and Sarah who get questioned by the police. It seems no matter what happens it is never Mason who gets in trouble but when they have to rush Jacob to the hospital after he beat him up in the park Sarah and Guy have had enough but when their plan goes awry then I have been off way more than they intended to two. I love Daniel Hearst books and I’ve noticed after reading every book is written that in his books he will put little funny conversations that although this is a serious psychological thriller always makes me laugh and then this one it was the conversation about the balaclavas I’ll laugh so much after reading that. No having said that let me say I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves thrillers I especially enjoyed this one because instead of the cheating husband it was a couple who unites to defend their son and I thought it would be a street story with them wanting to get revenge and it was but I never expected the twist and oh is there a twist Daniel hurst always throws curveballs and I still am not a custom to catching them lol! I love these books and found this a great awesome thriller! I want to thank Bookoucher and Net Galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Where to begin with this one. I requested this one because the premise sounded something new and a bit different from the run of the mill thrillers I've read recently.
This was fine. It didn't grip me like most thrillers, the characters and family Where fine but I did see the twist from the beginning or as near to it anyway.
I enjoyed it.
3 stars

Of course I love all Daniel's books. This was a gripping nail gnawing book for sure. I loved every page of it! I was turning the pages of my kindle like it was about to die. I just had to keep going. Just know a mothers instinct is always right!

This book was just what I needed to start off my new year. There’s nothing like a revenge filled book to get your heart pumping. Two parents are caught with the most unprecedented frustration of dealing with bullying in school. Relating to that firsthand, I can only imagine what it would be like to be dealing with such a situation, their son comes home with bruises from another child bullying at school. Unlike any other parent, you do anything to protect your children, the bully with a previous history of bullying bullied another student so bad that the child had committed suicide. The story is so intense and jaw-dropping that I couldn’t put it down. I was so enthralled with this story and it was so relatable that I could not put it down another great book by Daniel Hurst! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy! I loooooved it!

I really enjoyed The Couple's Revenge and it really does make you question how far you would go to protect your child. It had some great twists and turns throughout that kept me hooked.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for my ARC.

I've recently become a big fan of Daniel Hurst's books. They always keep me engaged in the characters' lives and the fast-paced storylines make them a quick read. His latest release is no exception - I finished it in just a few hours.
The story was told from multiple viewpoints, with Sara and Guy being the main ones. This made for an entertaining aspect, and even though I was able to guess the twist early on, it was still an enjoyable read. While it may not be as realistic as some other books, it did a great job of portraying the complex need to protect that comes with being a parent. The writing style made it easy to relate to both the primary and secondary characters, especially since I am a parent to a teenage boy myself.
If you're looking for a fast-paced, quick read that will keep you engaged, I highly recommend picking up this book!

As Always Daniel you know how to write a psychological thriller. from page one. you also messed with my head with the twists and turns.
I loved everything that he has written, His thrillers are addictive, adrenalin-fuelled thrill rides that are entertaining and fun to read. And once again, he does not disappoint. if you like Freida McFadden you will like his books.
A definite recommend
thank you netgalley and bookouture

Really enjoyed this and will be reading more of Daniel Hurst books! Fast paced, highly recommend, loved the plot twist at the end, didn’t see that one coming.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC!! I am always excited to read anything new Daniel Hurst writes!!
This book was a gripping story of revenge! How far would a parent go to protect their child from a bully? Once again we see Hurst take potential real life situations and show the characters acting in ways we only wish we could! Definitely a page turner! You won’t want to miss this one.

The Couple's Revenge by Daniel Hurst is a thrilling story about the lengths parents will go to for their children's safety. I couldn't stop reading this book from the moment I started it and finished it in several hours. Sara works from home and is waiting for her son, Jacob, to come home from high school. She's making him a sandwich as a snack as she's done every school day of his life. When she hears Jacob come in, she hears him running up the steps to his room. She calls out to him and asks about his day, but he's gone. Sara takes the sandwich up to him but finds his door shut. She knocks on the door, but Jacob tells her to go away. She asks him what's wrong, but he says nothing. He's not interested in the sandwich which is a first for him.
Sara grows more and more worried as this is very unlike her son. Jacob normally comes home and eats his sandwich in the kitchen while they chat about his day. Something is very wrong and she needs to know what! Sara texts her husband, Guy, who has plans after work. She tells him about Jacob and that he needs to talk to him asap. Guy is already at the field for his weekly soccer game with his buddies. He decides he'll play the game and go right home after, instead of going to the pub for a pint. When Guy gets home he doesn't have much luck with Jacob, either. Jacob tells Guy that he's feeling sick with a stomach flu. Sara knows this isn't true because he never acts like this when he's sick! What is going on? Why is their son so different?
When Guy takes Jacob to a professional soccer game on Saturday, Jacob pulls off his jacket when he gets too hot. His shirt rides up and Guy notices a lot of bruising on Jacob's side. Someone has beaten him and hurt him. Why didn't Jacob say something? Guy doesn't understand why Jacob would hide this. He takes him out for fish and chips after the game. He tells Jacob he saw the bruises and asks him about it? Jacob finally breaks down and tells Guy that a boy at school kicked him over and over again after he fell to the ground. This same boy bullied a girl a couple years ago and the girl committed suicide because she couldn't take it anymore. Guy is furious and he's going to make sure Jacob is safe no matter what!
Sara and Guy want to keep Jacob safe as things continue to escalate and get more and more complicated. What lengths will Sara and Guy go to in order to keep Jacob safe? Will they succeed? Will Sara and Guy go too far? This book gives you an inside look at bullying and the impact it can have on a child and their family. It really makes you think about what you would do in this situation. There are a couple of big twists towards the end in typical Daniel Hurst style! This is a gripping read that is also thought provoking. I rate The Couple's Revenge 4 stars with a very high recommendation. I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of The Couple's Revenge in exchange for a fair review. #TheCouplesRevenge

Anytime Daniel has a book coming out I know I have to read it! I love that when you pick up something by him, you know what you are going to get- a fast paced, thriller that you won’t want to put down!
“The Couple’s Revenge,” takes on the serious topic of bullying, and is a book, well, about revenge! The book takes place when parents of a child who is being bullied decide to step in. As a mom myself, I can see the temptation, but I wouldn’t go this far! Haha
I did figure out the ending, but I loved the story anyway, and the twist was fun! I also enjoyed the characters of the parents. I could definitely relate to them, and couldn’t help but cheer them on, even when they made questionable choices. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

How far would you go to protect your family? This is a fast paced revenge thriller. Definitely some sensitive topics so may not be for everyone. I enjoy a fast paced psychological thriller. Great twists. I will definitely be reading more books by this author. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
