This was a cute, light hearted romance. There wasn’t a whole lot of depth or action to it but it was an enjoyable enough easy read.

DNF at 30% I'm not going to give a rating because I didn't finish it.
I believe, based on what I've read so far, that if you enjoy Bridget Jones' Diary, you'll love this book! The humor didn't feel particularly funny, and the experiences weren't particularly gripping. Our heroines work environment is toxic, however, which made me uncomfortable. The smarmy guy who's harassing our heroine will undoubtedly be vanquished by our hero, hot and so nice he's well, a little boring. Again, he'll probably get more interesting, but my distaste for the overall plot doesn't make me want to keep reading to see things get better.
I wish Lucy Chalice the best, and hope that her book finds readers who will thoroughly enjoy her humor and plot!
I'd like to thank Harper Collins UK and Netgalley for the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.

I am a big fan of STEM romances and this ticked all my trope boxes. I was laughing and crying and cheering the whole way through and found it was such an easy, comforting and enjoyable read. I loved the slow burn, second chance, friends to lovers trope and felt I could really connect to Clara. I look forward to reading more from Chalice.

I was unable to complete this book due to not being able to engage with the storyline/plot. I read about half of the book but feel I read it at the wrong time for me. Had I read this at another point in time, I may have found this to be different.

I really enjoyed this story, I felt invested in the characters and their stories. This is perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood and other STEM romance fans.

Thank you to Harper Collins and Lucy Chalice for giving me the opportunity to read and review this early copy. Sadly, I had to DNF this one. It did not do it for me at all. I was disappointed because it’s compared to Ali Hazelwood’s steminist series and this one does not hit the same and I will not be recommending this book to my followers. Thank you for listening to my opinions.

The Hot Henry Effect has a STEM setting which i adored. However, i felt like the miscommunication with two fully adults were a bit too much.
It was a funny and sweet romcom but i had bigger hopes. The tension between the characters was good and the slow burn was well done. I felt like there could be a bit more depth to the characters and i felt a bit confused with all the reference to past events because they are just that, references without much more to them.
The ending was a bit rushed. It was a good read, but i admit i expected more from this book. I still recommend it as a feel good romcom.

Perfect for fans of Ali Hazelwood, The Hot Henry Effect is very similar with the lab/STEM career setting. My biggest hangup on this book was the fact that both of our MCs have doctorates, meaning they have to be mid-late 20’s except they did not act like it at all. Their actions were sometimes childish and conflicts had the ability to be solved with a single conversation.

Gah. Miscommunication trope strikes again. One of my LEAST favorite tropes, yet I pushed through this one. I also was expecting SO much more.. spice.. than what was given (Netgalley, why was this marketed as an erotica story... because it definitely was NOT erotica by any means). Not a deal breaker but definitely not my sealer either. Totally a strong starting book, Ali Hazelwood-esque, but then it just falls flat. I wanted more depth and more story, not something that was just a quick hook up and then FIN. Done. Kinda not what I was looking for in a book, but definitely a quick read nonetheless.

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down once I got into it. It has a fun, engaging vibe but you don’t need deep STEM knowledge to enjoy it. The friends-to-lovers trope was fantastic, with perfect tension and a slow-burn romance. The witty, self-deprecating humor and relatable characters made it even better. Highly recommend!

If you're looking for a sweet, funny and feel good romcom, look no further.
Clara and Henry first met in Oxford when Clara was mentoring Henry. She observed everyone swooning and labelled it the 'Hot Henry Effect'. And despite becoming firm friends, she believed herself impervious to his charms, although if she was really honest it was her fear of abandonment that put the brakes on any romance.
Seven years later, and Henry unexpectedly comes back into Clara's life. He's just as swoon-worthy, but he's more than that. And it's becoming increasingly difficult to pretend they're no more than friends.
A work trip to San Francisco is dramatic and filled with revelations, but will love or fear win out?
A cozy read perfect for a winter's evening.

i thought i gave feedback for this one months ago but i guess not (whoops!) the hot henry effect by lucy chalice is great for fans of ali hazlewood or Portia macintosh. this one was light and an easy read, but not my overall favorite flavor of contemporary romance novel.

Unfortunately I did not like this one. The writing was hard to follow and I didn't like the main characters or their relationship.

Oxford, science, pastry mishaps? This book's summary had me at its proverbial hello and it didn't disappoint! While this book was spicer than my personal preference, I just skipped over those parts and nothing was lost. I really enjoyed watching Henry and Lucy's story unfold.

Easy to read STEM romance - not very spicy but there is a little. I think I read it would be spicier so don’t read it for that. Could have been shorter, found the last quarter of the book to be a bit ‘get on with it’. Good easy read for the beach or travel.

I finally got round to read this and I enjoyed it but i think towards the end it got a bit much and should of ended much earlier. I think I need to read more STEM books as this one did introduce me to the world of STEM so i'm thankful that this book has gotten me to branch into this direction as I'm always looking for new subgenres!

A heartwarming friends to lovers romance that had me smiling from the first page.
It was so lovely to read a romance where I felt the characters actually cared for each other. The banter between Clara and Henry had me sniggering at certain points and I’m definitely pinching the post it notes in coffee cups idea.
I flew through the pages of this book and am very excited to read more from this author.
This is a book I’ll be shouting about to all who will listen.
Thank you for opportunity to read and review

Unable to complete ARC before publishing date due to personal circumstances, however what I did read I really enjoyed and loved seeing more women in STEM represented

I loved this book. I flew through it once I started reading it properly (yes, I did read one chapter in June, but I read the remainder on my flight from the UK to Australia) as it was engaging and fun. It definitely gives Ali Hazelwood vibes, but I felt like I didn't have to know what they were talking about in depth to understand what was happening (I am not a STEM girlie).
I adored the friends to lovers trope. The tension was perfect and the slow burn romance was gooood. It was witty and self-deprecating which is my type of humour. I felt like the characters were also real and relatable and I loved them instantly.
100% recommend!

1/5 - I really couldn’t get into The Hot Henry Effect. From the start, it didn’t grab my attention, and as I kept reading, I found myself struggling to stay interested. The story felt disjointed, and I couldn’t connect with the characters or their motivations. I gave it a fair chance, but the pacing just didn’t work for me, and I found myself getting distracted often. It might resonate with other readers, but for me, it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience. I appreciate the opportunity to read it, but I won’t be recommending this one.
