This was a wild ride and I was totally here for it! Man did Mel get what she deserved! This was my 1st book by Kerry Wilkinson but will not be my last! I am adding all of her books to my TBR.

I loved this audiobook! It is from multiple perspectives, but in no way confusing.
I'm giving it a solid 4 star rating, only not a 5 because I figured out most of the twists.
The narrator was excellent as well.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

Wow. A twisted tale of some truly terrible people. Even the “good” ones aren’t good. Lies, betrayals, physical, verbal and emotional abuse (may be triggers for some so be wary as it gets ugly), a missing family or not, a loving wife or not, animal abuse, seemingly inept investigators, some wrongful conclusions and more. Just when you think you know whats happening… nope! A well crafted psychological thriller that leads to so much horror, destruction, sadness, brutality, lies all leading to a surprise ending. My first by this author and definitely not my last. Wonderful narration.

So this book is in 4 parts - the first part I found a little meh and wasn't sure where it was going but then it really hit off and loved it. It is really difficult to review as the less you know the better and it so works, love the ending. Okay some plot points are a bit unbelievable and you think why, but just go with the flow. The twists keep on coming.

This was my first exposure to this author and narrator and they really worked, I listened to this in 24 hours as I needed to know what was happening.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the Bookouture audio but the review is entirely my own.

I absolutely LOVED 'Love you Gone' by Rona Halsall. First of all, it's masterfully and skillfully narrated by Tamsin Kennard. She adds such a great depth to the story!

The story itself is so interesting and quite unique. I could not stop listening to it and needed to know what was going to happen. The way the story unfolded - I did not see it coming! It was great. I would love to read all the books by this author now! I highly recommend it!

Thank you Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for providing me with an early copy of this audiobook.

Love You Gone by Rona Halsall

"Love You Gone" by Rona Halsall is a spellbinding thriller that masterfully unravels its intricate plot with each page turned. Thank you to Netgalley for the advanced copy.

The story begins with a seemingly ordinary circumstance: Mel comes home to find her husband and children missing, with only a note stating they've gone for a walk. But as hours tick by and they don't return, the narrative morphs from a simple missing persons case to a complex web of deceit and revelation.

What makes "Love You Gone" stand out is its exceptional storytelling. It's one of those rare books where clarity and understanding unfold gradually, illuminated by the narrator's revelations of her own emotions. This approach not only deepens our connection with the characters but also cleverly obscures the truth until the perfect moment. Just when you think you've figured it all out, Halsall throws in twists and turns, keeping you on the edge of your seat.

As the story progresses, your sympathies will shift unpredictably. Initially, you feel a wave of empathy for Mel, the seemingly distraught wife. However, as more layers are peeled back, you're presented with a completely different scenario that challenges your initial perceptions. This dynamic storytelling raises the intriguing question: Who really is the victim here?

"Love You Gone" is a testament to Rona Halsall's skill in crafting a psychological thriller that is both gripping and emotionally resonant. It's a book you can't put down, mainly because you're never quite sure how it's going to end. The journey from the first page to the last is filled with suspense and unexpected revelations, making it a thrilling read for anyone who loves a good mystery.

Just wrapped up the audiobook, "Love You Gone" by Rona Halsall, and it's a solid four and a half stars from me! Right from the start, the plot grabbed me and quickly threw me into a rollercoaster of emotions. If you love unexpected twists and a satisfying resolution, this book may need to be your next pick. I was glad that I was on a long drive so that I had several hours to dive into it without interruption!

"Love You Gone" takes us on a suspenseful journey in the Lake District with one of the main characters, Mel. Mel is expecting a cozy family reunion but finds only a note and an unsettling absence. As the plot unfolds, Mel faces unexpected twists and a revelation about her marriage that pushes her to share secrets with the police. I felt so much angst and sympathy for her at first. However, I quickly learned that things may not be really be what I initially thought them to be. The narrative skillfully weaves through hidden truths and a surprising shift of a supporting character into a major role, leading to a satisfying resolution.

"Love You Gone" doesn't shy away from complexities, so be prepared for twists and turns in relationships and emotions. There could be triggers for those who have experienced emotional or physical abuse.

Major props to the audiobook narrator, Tamsin Kennard! She brought the story to life with an engaged reading, diverse voices and emotion. The audiobook format adds an extra layer of enjoyment, making it a fantastic option for those who love a good listen.

In summary, "Love You Gone" is a thrilling ride with twists, turns, and a touch of the unexpected, all brought to life in the audiobook version. It's a must-read (or listen!) for those who enjoy a well-crafted mystery with a satisfying conclusion. 🎧📖👍

This is a fast paced twisty thriller that had me gasping out loud a few times.

The story unravels over 3 parts. In the first part we follow Mel who has just arrived to the holiday cottage that she is going to be sharing with her husband and two children. Her family arrived a couple of days earlier and Mel expects a warm welcome when she arrives. However, Mel arrives to a messy, empty house with a short note saying that her family have gone for a walk and will be back soon. They don't come back! Eventually, Mel calls the police and we slowly learn that not is all as it seems within Mel's marriage. The second part of the book covers the 2 years prior to the family disappearance and we learn a lot about the dysfunctional relationships Mel has with her husband and children. The last part of the book focuses on what has happened to Mel's husband and children,

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator did a brilliant job and easily transitioned between characters and accents (Scottish and Welsh included), The characters were well developed and the content of the book really stirred up some emotions for me (TW - DV). Things are not as they seem and alliances are not that clear cut.

A good listen that I recommend if you are looking for something that will keep you guessing until the end.

As we all know with my reviews if there is a character named "TED" I automatically boost it by 1 star, this book is no exception, there is a character named.....you guessed it....TED!!! Unfortunately Ted was not a great character like the GOAT Ted, but that is neither here nor there....Onward!

I admit, this book had the pages turning for sure, lots of twist and turns, and very very unreliable characters. I will say you must suspend your belief in reality and how life unfolds for this plot line to work, but hey it kept me entertained on 6 early morning runs.
The book opens with a dad fleeing "someone" with his two kids and there appears to be some kind of abuse situation happening.
The next chapter we have Mel arriving at the family's vacation rental and her family is....GONE! Gasp!
From there the plot goes back in time and the relationship between Mel and her new husband (and his biological kids) begins to unfold, things are for sure not what they appear.
Her husband has a dodgy family. And his family, they were messed up as billy goats...you think it was all that CAnnibas? Yup! I think Mama was making too many "cookies"
My biggest gripe (I have been wanting to use that word!) with the book was the total lack of a spine Dad had. I won't go into detail, but uh I wanted to shake him silly, but then I guess I would be guilty as.....well can't say that either.

Anyway, fun quick twisty read, that will have you flipping the pages!

I for sure will be checking out Rona Halsall's backlist, I am intrigued!

Wow, its been a while since I read a thriller that completed shocked me. This was such a wild ride and the ending twists were really spectacular. I found the characters to be relatable and interesting and thought the plot was really well done. Rona Halsall has such a knack for surprising the reader. I feel like she left some good breadcrumbs but not enough to give away the ending. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’ll admit that the first 1/4 was such a slow burn and really not engaging that I did consider DNFing but once it switched to the past timeline it picked up the pace and caught my attention. The storyline wasn’t what I expected at all which is a good thing. The main theme of the story was a little lacking in the building of the story as I felt it needed more. The characters were both likeable and unlikeable. Found the ending a bit rushed and underwhelming. It was an ok listen.

When Mel arrives at the holiday cottage after a long day at work, she expected to see her husband & step-children waiting for her. However, she found an empty house and note stating that they had gone for a hike. Several hours later, the family haven’t returned and Mel calls the police …
It was fast-paced and whilst the story feels pretty straightforward initially, nothing is quite what it seems. When you think that you know what is happening, a twist will throw things onto a new path. There are secrets, lies, deceptions and drama … who can be trusted? What is actually happening?
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job keeping it flowing.

A twisty thriller with lots of questions.

When Mel arrives at the holiday cottage in the Lake District, she expects to find the heating on and her husband Luke and the two children waiting for her. Maybe a bottle of wine open…

Instead, there is just a note on the side, saying they’ve gone out for a walk.

But they aren’t back several hours later, and Mel knows something is wrong. Really wrong. When a search doesn’t find them, she has to confess to the police that her marriage isn’t all that it seems.

Even if that risks her own secrets being revealed…

Thank you to Bookouture Audio, Rona Halsall and NetGalley for a gifted ARC of Love you Gone.

The book opens with the line “Hello? Police? My husband and our children….they’re gone”. When Mel arrives at the remote cottage for their holiday break she thought she would be greeted by a warm fire and a family that was excited to see her. However, the opposite had happened. She found a note stating that they had gone for a hike, but after several hours she became worried and phoned the police. This psychological thriller has several twists and turns that were unexpected. Shows the depths that a family will go to in search of peace and freedom. I couldn’t stop once I started this book! I look forward to reading my my this author! I liked the style and I liked the reader.

Mel reaches the holiday cottage looking forward to spend quality time with her family - but what she finds there shocks her to the core! Her family is gone and they are nowhere to be found!
When she contacts the police all old truths start coming out and seems like everyone around her are keeping secrets - but why? And why did her family not return back from the hike they had gone for according to the note found in the cottage?

This book was so gripping and made every minute of listening totally worth it!

Tamsin Kennard did a fantastic job with the narration on this book! She seamlessly covers multiple characters points of views and was very entertaining to listen to. The story felt pretty straightforward from the start. Missing husband and children, lost in the wilderness, police get involved. But after that everything goes off the rails! Nothing was as it seems and as the layers start unraveling, there are some shocking twists! I would definitely recommend to anyone who love psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators!
