I was very invested in this story! It was full of twists & turns that had me on the edge of my seat throughout the whole book!!!
I absolutely loved it. This gripping psychological thriller had me hooked from start to finish. The story revolves around Sophie, who is trying to piece her life back together after a tragic car accident that leaves her with amnesia and a sense of dread that something more sinister lies behind her memory loss.
Stacey's writing is captivating and immersive, drawing you into Sophie's world of confusion and fear. The pacing is perfect, with each chapter revealing just enough to keep you intrigued without giving too much away. The plot is intricately woven, filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Just when I thought I had figured out the mystery, Stacey threw in another twist that completely took me by surprise.
The character development in this novel is outstanding. Sophie is a well-rounded protagonist, and her struggle to regain her memory and uncover the truth is both compelling and relatable. The supporting characters are equally well-drawn, each adding depth and complexity to the story. Their interactions with Sophie add layers of suspense and tension, making it hard to put the book down.
One of the things I appreciated most about The Accident is its exploration of themes such as trust, memory, and the impact of trauma. Stacey handles these themes with sensitivity and insight, adding an emotional depth to the thriller that made it all the more engaging.
Overall, The Accident is a brilliantly crafted psychological thriller that I would highly recommend to anyone who loves a good mystery. L.H. Stacey has created a story that is both thrilling and thought-provoking, making it a must-read for fans of the genre
A good read
A psychological thriller which will keep you hooked
Can’t wait to read the next book by this author
Thanks NetGalley
The accident was a great read… grabbed my attention from the first page… with each new revelation, I just kept wanting to turn the pages… I highly recommend this book Well where do I begin? I have been so excited about this one and it has delivered on every level. I have been so caught up in this one – I devoured the whole thing in just one sitting.
When I saw the blurb for this one, I was excited to read it. Unfortunately, it fell flat for me. I like the romantic suspense but I struggled to connect with the book.
This is the first book I have read from the author! Where have I been?
I need to read more from the author.
The Accident by L.H. Stacy was an excellent Psychological Thriller, this was so good I could not put this book down, once I started to read it, especially as it was well written and fast paced with lots of twists and turns throughout which made it a rocky ride......
I loved it.
I highly recommend this book and its a great book for your day off or your holiday.
Big Thank you to Netgalley and especially Boldwood Books for my early ARC.
Every time Kate Duggan looks in a mirror she's reminded of the night her life changed forever. Kate managed to walk away from the car accident that ruined the lives of her siblings, but questions still remain about what really happened on that dark stretch of road.
This is a fairly enjoyable romantic suspense. It has a good storyline with the characters deftly defined. I also love how the author built the suspense throughout the whole story.
Although the twists are not as crazy as those in psychological thrillers, they are still enough to be shockers and page turners.
Overall, this is a nice and easy read. Light and satisfying. I can totally see this as a drama series. I look forward to reading more books written by this author..
Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this amazing book.
I read this book in two days, although it was enjoyable I found there to be stages in the book where the story jumped without explanation which made me question what was happening and how much time had passed. All in all an easy enjoyable read
Thank you NetGalley for this copy. I was super excited to read the book as the plot sounded very interesting. Kate survived a car accident which left one dead and one disabled. That night never left her and later on she became a PI, her nightmares came back to haunt her. This book was a slow burn with a lot of focus on romantic relationship. A few twists but which the pace was faster.
I have read a couple of Psychological Thrillers that the author has written, and she is always a “must read” for me. She has written a riveting, fast-paced psychological thriller with perfect timing and pacing to draw you in and keep you engaged with the characters and the storyline. There are twists and surprises throughout the book that keep you intrigued, and the ending was shocking final reveal. It gave me everything I love in a suspense thriller from the easy, fast-paced storyline to the intriguing plot and unexpected twists. I recommend this book and LH Stacey other thrillers to serious psychological thriller fans that like a fast-paced, suspenseful, and well-written story.
Loved this thriller. It was fast paced and well written. It takes the reader through several different emotional rollercoasters and leaves you breathless at the end.
I wanted to like Kate but I am not sure I ever fully got there… but I want to hear more about her twin sister Eve! The makeup of the family and how the accident altered it was a great starting point for the story. I felt like some parts of the story went fast but almost that I didn’t really believe that they could have gotten to that point of the story that quick. I wanted to hear more about Kate’s relationship with her parents. Something to make her more likable… ultimately I found myself wanting more about Eve and Eric over Kate/Rob/Ben
This started out with great promise but somehow didn’t deliver in the end. It wasn’t so much of a thriller and I kept waiting for it to get going. Though well written, This one wasn’t for me.
A romantic book with a bit of crime thrown in. Ok, but the crimes did not grab me, I didn't really take to the characters and as a Yorkshire girl was disappointed by descriptions of the places (in Whitby there are 199 steps , not 99 as stated here) . The investigation agency has lots of wonderful techniques which don't really ring true and I found some of the information where the investigators worked on a little too far fetched . Relationships seemed to be forged in a matter of hours/days .
So thanks Net Galley for the ARC, not for me I`m afraid, but although I did think about not finishing, the pick up in action towards the end piqued my interest enough to see what happened
Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Kate lived her life with regret everyday for feeling responsible for the accident that took her brother's life and put her sister in a wheelchair. If only she didn't ask her brother for a ride that day he wouldn't have felt rushed. Now she lives with that reminder every time she looks in the mirror and sees the scar on her face. As Kate tries to move on with her life she takes a job as a Private Investigator with a local firm where she meets Ben and Eric and they are trying to take done a drug lord and his accomplices. What Kate learns through this investigation will forever change her life. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more by this Author....Enjoy!!!!
Really twisty, turny and exciting. Detailed and fast paced, loved Ben (who wouldnt)!? The characters were believable and relatable. Read in 1 sitting. Fantastic book. Will look for more by this author now
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion
Definitely more of a romantic suspense book than a thriller. Rushed ending too. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy
I liked the blurb for this book and was looking forward to reading it. I liked how the author used descriptive words or phrases as part of the story. In the end this book was not for me. Kate was a weak protagonist who let her boyfriend treat her like crap. I hope others enjoy the book but it was not for me.
Though it appears I may be in the minority, I hated this book. It felt disjointed and murky at the best of times. This is not a psychological thriller, it is a romance novel that is trying to be "edgy". Very little of the plot makes any sense.
I did finish the book entirely because I do not think it's fair to review it without completion, but the ending is sappy and poorly written.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for my copy of this book.
This was my first book by the author, I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters for the most part were really great and engaging. However I’m giving it three stars because I didn’t feel the psychological thriller aspect of it. To me this book felt more like a cozy mystery romance novel. I found the main two characters great. However, there was stuff missing I felt like that should have played out differently. Also the ending kind of threw me off, I felt like it should have said epilogue X amount of time later. Overall, the storyline was wonderful, most of the characters were amazing. The protagonist was a swell guy 😂 he managed to make you not like him. Job well done. I would recommend this book to others. Thanks netgalley and the publishing company for an advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest feedback.
