After a horrible accident that Kate believes she caused that ended with her brother dead and her twin sister Eve paralyzed she is trying to do her best to get on with life. After the accident she met Rob and soon at his behest they were living together. Once working for the police department she is now hopeful and she has a job interview with a private investigation firm when she shows up however she gets in a tiff with a good looking man who calls are an idiot so needless to say going into the interview her nerves are rattled only to find out the man who she had the squabble over parking whip is the son of the owner but they couldn’t be more ingratiating and welcoming. She is very excited to learn she is hired but when she calls her sister Eva she has the balance that with the guilt she feels over the bitter sweet tone in her paralyze sister‘s voice who does nothing but sit home every day. When the first case she is given is a family who is into international drug dealing and much more and it’s someone familiar to her but before it’s over she will learn she knew the family much more than she initially thought. While they were investigating the case her and then the son of the owner start to feel something for each other but until recently Kate has been living with Rob but he now has gone missing. I really liked this book but just like my review I felt the ending was rust and was almost unmiraculous ending but having said that I was totally down for it and loved the Apple log. I am a person who loves when a book is wrapped up with a bow on top and that is exactly how the accident Ends. LH Stacy is definitely someone who is books I would read again and I’m almost certain I have read her books before. Which I probably shouldn’t say that because one wants to be memorable but I don’t wanna lie I can only say I think I have. Now I’m rambling I want to thank the author and publisher and also net galley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This didn't end up being my cup of tea. It is more of a romantic suspense book and I lost interest in that. I just like a good mystery and the premise sounded really ominous.

I enjoyed reading The Accident. I was surprised to find that it was, in my opinion, more of a romance novel with a side of thriller but still enjoyable. I found all the characters interesting, although not likeable and I enjoyed the twists and turns.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for my ARC.

Kate scarred after an accident and her sister, Eve, that killed their brother are having difficulties with the aftermath. Kate is living with a difficult boyfriend and struggles feeling her parents blame her for the accident. Eve takes a job as a private eye and secrets start surfacing. This book hooked me from the start with the character development and twists. I recommend this book.

The feeling of jeopardy starts from the opening pages as it becomes clear that Kate’s partner, Rob, is not all that he may seem to be. That feeling doesn’t pass easily as more of Kate’s story unfolds. I genuinely felt sympathy for her as it became clear that she was carrying a huge burden of guilt having survived a terrible accident that took the life of her brother and seriously impacted her sister’s way of life. Kate’s injuries may seem superficial, but the damage is much deeper.
I must admit, this book hooked me in, and I inhaled it in a single night. I simply couldn’t put it down while the action was playing out across the pages. As Kate starts over as a private investigator, life soon brings complications to her door that enable her to see beyond what she has been told and get closer to the truth.
The last thing I want to do is include any spoilers, so I will steer away from the plot and leave that to the synopsis. What I will focus on is the skillful way the author introduces and develops her characters. The pain and confusion that Kate endured was tangible and that created a nervous feeling as I was reading.
There’s also a need to mention how the villains are cleverly drawn, creating a deeper feeling of danger in the pages. Of course, that is why Lynda’s books are so successful. I absolutely despised Rob and his manipulative ways, but I did wonder if his behaviour was a cover; as I said, no spoilers from me.
I loved every minute of this book and can highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this book, there are plenty of twists and turns too keep you going - i didnt want too out it down so i stayed up reading it which i haveng done with a book in a while.
its hard not too feel sorry for kate and eve re the accident especially when things start too unravel and you find out the truth behind it. Rob is a piece of work and I love Ben and Eric and everyone at the agency that kate goes too work for.

**Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to review an ARC of this ebook**

3 stars

This has a little bit of everything, it was light and a quick read. Mostly a suspense romance instead of a thriller..
I wasn't super captivated by this.
I didn't connect to any of the characters

I’d like to thank Boldwood Books and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Accident’ written by L H Stacey in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Kate Duggan was a police constable until the car accident where she suffered scarring to her face, her twin sister Eve was disabled and using a wheelchair, and her brother James drowned. Now fully recovered and rather than let people see her scars, Kate becomes a private investigator and joins Parker & Son where her first assignment is to work undercover to catch a gang dealing drugs.

‘The Accident’ is a psychological thriller where Kate Duggan’s police training becomes useful as she works with the Parker family tracking drug dealers. I’ve enjoyed reading of Kate and the team she works with although I do think she’s a bit naïve at times and doesn’t always act like an ex-police officer. I like the characters who the author has described well and there’s been plenty of drama, suspense and twists and turns to keep me involved. I’d like to know how Kate’s character develops and the challenges she takes on in her new job so I’m hoping this is just the first of a exciting brand new series.

This was such a good book! This was about a girl who was in a car accident with her siblings. Her brother died, and her sister became disabled and ended up in a wheelchair. She had a boyfriend that was not very nice to her, that she suspected was up to no good. She started a new job as a private investigator and she meets a new man. The story that unfolds from there was really good. There were twists and turns that I didn’t expect in the book but those, of course, made it even more enjoyable. When the book was over I wanted more. This was a great read.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this ARC.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, the first I've read by this author. An entertaining read and fast paced, however, I did think some details were a bit obscure and the ending was a bit rushed.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Net Galley for the ARC.

Although my expectations for a good thriller weren't met with this novel, i would still reccomend it to those that like romance thrillers cus this is more up that alley. I would still consider reading another work from this author.

Kate, her sister Eve and brother were all involved in a car accident, the scar on Kate’s face is a daily reminder of this and her struggle to move on when her parents are constantly making digs at her are proving hard. Kates boyfriend Rob is supportive, or is he controlling?

Kate starts a new job as a private investigator where she meets boss Ben, and her life is turned into a whirlwind of emotion.

Whilst this book is labelled a psychological thriller, it had quite a lot of chick lit elements to it, which is my reason for the 3 stars

This is my first book by L. H. Stacey.   I would not call it a thriller, per say, as it does not have the twists and turns I have come to expect from a good thriller.  This novel was fairly straightforward, with no big surprises or reveals.  The plot centers around former police constable  turned PI Kate, who has suffered a tragic accident leaving her and her loved ones trauma of varying degrees.  To avoid spoiling this book, I will not give many more details regarding the plot.

This novel is perfect for fans of romance that enjoy an addition of suspense.  There is not a great deal of character development, and everyone behaves pretty much as you would expect.  I wished for more depth of characters, but rather everyone seemed to fit into one stereotype or another.  I was not fully invested in this read until about halfway through.  At that point the plot picked up a bit, and I was determined to see it through.

Overall, it was not my favorite, and I would not call it a thriller at all.  I did enjoy the book for what it was, but was disappointed by the lack of depth and suspense.  I will try another book from this author though!  The Accident will be released on January 27, 2024.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Net Galley for the ARC.

I didn’t mind this book and would read more by this author if I saw them. I was a bit confused by the ‘psychological thriller’ category as I thought it was more of a romance novel with a bit of mystery thrown in on the side. I didn’t mind the development of the relationships between Kate and Ben and Eric and Eve, although you could see what was going to happen as soon as the characters of Ben and Eric were introduced. I didn’t understand the mental breakdown of Kate’s mum. She was described as always being dismissive and nasty, so I was surprised when Kate realised that she was being nasty because she was having a mental breakdown - I would have just thought she was just being her normal bitchy self. The mystery, wasn’t particularly mysterious, but I guess did add another element to the story.

I unfortunately did not enjoy this book. Kate’s life hasn’t been the same since the car accident. Kate’s finance rob is controlling and she knows she needs to get away from him. This book felt more like a mystery romance book versus a psychological thriller which is why I didn’t like it. I didn’t go into it planning to read a romance book.
Thank you, NetGalley, L.H. Stacey and Boldwood Books for the ARC!

A new author for me which I thoroughly enjoyed. A good storyline which kept me involved all the way with good well described characters.

Plenty of secrets which gradually began to emerse throughout and I can thoroughly recommend this book.

Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC.

Great book! I really loved the fact that you discover little by little all the secrets between Rob and Kate and also the aftermath of the accident. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat! A good read!

I feel this was more of a romance novel than thriller which I usually avoid romance but I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this. The characters was very well developed and I loved the writing style. I will definitely be looking out for more books from this author and I highly recommend thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.

Thank you, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the copy of The Accident by L.H. Stacey. I’m not sure what to make of this book. Although it started out fine, then it reads like a romance novel, not a thriller. If you like romances with some suspense, it’s ok, but if you prefer thrillers with no romance thrown in, you will be disappointed. If I had known romance was a theme I would have never requested the book. Needless to say, this was not the book for me. I’m sure if you’re expecting a romance novel you will love it.
