A good ending to this series. I will miss reading about all the characters in this series. But things change and the residents of Mulberry Lane must change too.
The 10th and final book in the Mulberry Lane series. And just like all the previous books in the series I loved it . Right from the very first book I was engrossed in these characters and the story . The final book has wrapped everything up really well with a perfect ending .
Aww the end of an era. Great read, all wrapped up nicely with everyone going their own way. This has been a great series, I will miss all the characters, perhaps we might meet them at the Dog and Duck?
Last Orders at Mulberry Lane by Rosie Clarke
Time to say goodbye to the Mulberry Lane saga and the lovely ladies within it.
It was great to be allowed into the lives of Peggy and her families ups and downs of life.
Farewell my friends.
While I generally enjoyed this series and getting to "know" the characters. after this release, I am glad the series is over. All good things come to an end, and honestly, I'd have been okay if there had only been 9 books in all.
While it was interesting to see what happened next and get a bit of a wrap up, so much of this felt poorly edited - characters restating their thoughts over and over, to the point that in several places, I had to ensure I hadn't accidentally skipped back several pages on my Kindle. Add to that, with the extreme number of characters the author has dealt with over the series, it felt like every page or two in the first fourth of the book, it was nothing but repetition either from previous books in the series or the "main" story line in this one.
The whole Maggie and Ryan bit drove me insane. A character (rightly so, based on all we were told about Maggie in the past) stated that Maggie wouldn't like being kept in the dark. Then she was apparently completely kept in the dark and had no reaction to the news when she apparently was told, because the last thing we hear about her reaction was a single, throwaway sentence to her mother.
This certainly wasn't the worst thing I've ever read, and while I recommend it to any fans of the series just to get that final wrap up, I'd be hard pressed to recommend the entire series to someone, just based on how phoned-in things felt at times.
I have read and enjoyed all the Mulberry Lane series but sadly was disappointed with the quality of this title. I appreciate that I have been lucky enough to read a pre-release copy but I found it contained several mistakes and contradictions in the storyline which spoilt the book for me. I hope for Rosie Clarke's sake they are picked up and can be rectified before publication as it seems such a shame to end an amazing series this way. (I have tried to contact the publishers but received no reply).
I hope the series will continue in Ely as the end of the book left you wanting to know more about the characters who feel like old friends after so many books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to review the title.
Oh what a Fabulous series this has been I have loved reading of Peggy and her Family their ups and downs, the war years and how Peggy tried to help people in the Lanes who needed it. I will miss Peggy but this Book was Lovely to read Thank you to Rosie Clarke for such a Wonderful Journey through the years on Mulberry Lane.
I can't believe that this is the tenth book in this series. I am quite sad that this is the last one as I have enjoyed this series so much.
We have followed Peggy, her family and friends and neighbours throughout the ten books and its never easy to say goodbye.
Mulberry Lane is to be bulldozed by the council in line with re generation of London slums. The buildings had taken a battering during the war and some landlords made them good and some just left them to rot.
Everyone has to move out, some accepting new council flats but people who owned their house of business are looking to start again, perhaps outside London.
Peggy and Able want to start somewhere afresh but as usual Peggy had to make sure her children, grandchildren and friends are all settled and okay before she thinks of herself.
This book ties up some loose ends and let's us know what everyone has in store for the future.
It has a really good ending which I read through a film of tears. What a good storyteller RosieClarke is.
Last in this series best read in order. We've come along way with the residents of Mulberry Lane and their families, through heartbreak and sorrow, happiness and joy. This is another heartwarming drama with Peggy and Maureen at the heart. A great read.
I have read every single book in the Mulberry Lane series and, I have to admit, reading this, the last in the series, has brought a tear to my eye. I feel sad that the Mulberry Lane Girls, who became women, who then became mothers etc, are no longer going to be updating me on what they're getting up to.
I wonder what it would take to persuade Rosie Clarke to let us know how the offspring get on in their prospective lives!?
This was a very fitting end to, what has been, a very enjoyable series.
I'm going to miss Mulberry Lane but I can't wait to see what Rosie's got up her sleeve for her next book! :)
Another wonderful read from Rosie. It was sad to read about the demise of Mulberry Lane and the dreadful affect of the people who lived there. The thought of Peggy losing her pub and Maggie her restaurant and other friends and family losing their homes was just so sad. However with the determination and stoicism of the families of Mulberry Lane they rose to the occasion, just as they did during the war, they each found new homes.
This was a wonderful end to a wonderful family saga.
I really enjoyed this book.
Thankyou netgalley I will be looking out for what the author does next
What a joy to join old friends when starting this book. That joy soon changed when it becomes clear that Peggy may have to leave her beloved pub, Maureen is equally upset at the thought of loosing her home and business especially when her husband Gordon is ill.
Peggy’s eldest daughter Janet is still trying to come to terms with the fact that her husband Ryan decided to go off to live in a remote farmhouse in Wales. Does Ryan have an ulterior motive for this.
We hear much more about the younger generation this time. I really enjoyed Freddie’s story as it unfolded and he worked his way through college and dealing with difficult situations.
That’s why I feel sure that although it may be last orders at Mulberry Lane there’s still plenty to write about! Nothing like wishful thinking!
Firstly thank you Netgalley for this Arc
Omg what can I say a brilliant end to a brilliant series. Brilliant author is you love family saga you will love this series
