I love all of Phillipa Ashley’s books but I found this one extra special . The setting on the Isles of Scilly was magical and definitely has made me research a trip, the characters of Lily and Sam were great and I really cared what happened. However, what was truly magical, for me, was the plot of reevaluating your life and trying to live your best life. Lily was dealing with grief and had thrown herself into work in order to hide from it. Whilst her business was going from strength to strength but as Lily learns success doesn’t always mean happiness. Her epiphany and determination to change her life after a truly terrifying ordeal was so heartwarming. I really really hope this isn’t our last visit to Stark and Bryher- perhaps Nate needs a story?
A lovely feel good read perfect for a summer holiday. A predictable plot which added to the enjoyment of the book. The holiday retreat where Lily spends her vacation is the kind of place we all want to escape to.
This was just the book I needed to read on a gorgeous hot summer day here in New Zealand! It whisked me away to the Isles of Scilly and into the life of Lily Harper and the wonderful Sam. I loved the setting and the way the author writes it so beautifully. I’m ashamed to say that I’ve never read a Phillips Ashley book before (have looked them all up now) but I will be rectifying that. Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the wonderful read.
I absolutely loved this book from the first chapter and could not put it down.
The story is set in the Isles of Scilly and the setting was so beautiful and romantic even when the weather was not great.
All of the characters were so fitting to the story and I loved the sense of community. Sam was my absolute favourite character and Richie a very close second.
The ending was everything I hoped for and left me wanting so much more. I hope this book will lead to a series of books all about Lily as there is so much more I want to know starting with an update on RIchie and Lily (no spoilers) and their double celebration.
An amazing 5 star read which covered the importance of romance, community, friendship, family and never giving up
Thanks to Netgalley , Phillipa Ashley and Random House UK, Cornerstone for an advanced copy in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.
Second chance sumner is a breathtakingly gorgeous read full of hope, love second chances and a sense of community!
Based in the wonderfully picturesque scilly isles , a place that has such fond memories for me , we meet the gorgeous , sultry, handsome Sam and members of his family!
Lily a city business women of some notoriety has had an enforced break thrust upon her and finds herself at the mercy of Sam and his fledgling island retreat!
What follows is a dramatic event that has a life changing effect on both Sam and lily and the repercussions from it make for the most enchanting read full of friendship, healing and romance!
A perfect summer read
Thank you net galley for this early read!!
Lily goes to a remote retreat in the Scilly Isles as she's afraid she's going to burn out. It's not what she expected as the retreat isn't finished and the weather is terrible. Lovely descriptions of the Scilly Isles. Sam the owner of the retreat and Lily don't get on when she first arrives Love Philippa Ashley books and this is no exception
Another great read from Phillipa Ashley and one I enjoyed and was entertained by. The story is about escaping to a new world even if you think you don't want it. And this is what the main character Lily does but will it turn out for the better or will she head back to her old way of life.
This is a warm, feel-good, uplifting and fun book to read. You can escape, along with Lily, into the pages of this book and the glorious setting and surroundings within it. I enjoyed reading this as it is so easy to read but there is enough depth and a great story to make it interesting.
Couldn't put it down and loved every minute of it so I will give it 4 1/2 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone, for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
A really lovely story. Phillipa Ashley at her best. Set on the Isles of Scilly . Beautiful descriptions. Made you want to go to the retreat . Lily was very stressed and goes to relax , you get some lovely story lines, love, and it made you think about how much we use our phones and rely on them. Cold turkey would be hard . A 5 star read. Loved it. Forgot to say a perfect neat ending .
So in the mood to acquire another gorgeous title from Phillipa Ashley! Her book always make me swoon and I absolutely cannot wait to share a full review on this! I’m so excited for a delightful summer title to escape to in the dig days of winter,
