Always love a Kirsty Greenwood novel and this one to add to the shelf! Loved the characters and how they the story develops! A story of love, family and yourself.
This was my favourite book of the year! I could not put it down. This book is a love story with a twist, I was constantly questioning ‘what will happen next?’ But I never guessed! Such a well thought out story, highly recommend.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and of course the author for the ARC of this fabulous book which I absolutely adored.
Romance is my favourite genre, but romance books can sometimes be predictable. We always know she's going to get the guy and we WANT her to get the guy but ... well, you know.
For me, this book really stands out because :
1. It ISN'T predictable. It has surprises. I love that.
2. The voice is great. I connected immediately with the main character.
3. There's a real community feel too - lovely side characters alongside the main ones.
4. It has a great premise. A weird cross between a fairy tale - she has to get that first kiss a bit like the Sleeping Beauty! - and a paranormal romance. (Well, there's afterlife but not ghosts).
Just brilliant. I'm now going to check out what else Kristy Greenwood has written.
This is the most unique and compelling book I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
Delphie enters the afterlife wearing something she wouldn't want to be seen dead in, when she comes face to face with THE most handsome man she has ever met. The catch - he was sent to the afterlife by mistake. When she is given the opportunity to be sent down to Earth to find him, she accepts without thought. However, she is given 10 days to find the man she claims to be her soulmate.
This book was a total breath of fresh air. I was laughing, crying and smiling in quick succession and I felt so deeply for all the characters in the story. Greenwood's writing style is so captivating that I genuinely found myself believing in this situation and I was rooting for Delphie the entire way. The narrative strands throughout added a depth to the already quite deep novel and it just made me love the characters even more.
I felt things with this book. For sure, my favourite read of the year and one I will treasure the feeling of forever.
Loved this novel! Very interesting concept, Warm, funny characters and so easy to read. Finished in two sittings. Some real laugh out loud moments.
This one took me by surprise, because where the author takes it after what we know of in the blurb is...not where I was picturing this would go, and that was such a pleasant surprise and then a rollicking ride.
Delphie can be grating at times, and if I weren't so involved as to the countdown (what happens if she doesn't kiss Jonah before ten adays are out???), I might've given up on this one. So glad I stayed. This story took turns and spins I didn't see coming, and it kept me on my toes. The characters are all quirky in their own way, adorable at times, and seeing the relationships form and build and then seeing them last was delightful. It's a short span of time, but so much is happening, yet it didn't feel rushed or impossible at all.
[My only peeve (and why this isn't getting five stars) is what happens towards the end of the book. It dragged a bit for me, kinda lost steam a little, which was a little anti-climactic after the exhilarating pacing I'd gotten used to throughout. (hide spoiler)]
Still, it's a beautiful story that just allows you to disconnect and go for a fun spin with Delphie as her world opens up in ways she never could've imagined, and there was magic in there, I'm sure.
Loved the concept and execution of this. Have been out and bought the physical of this as well now! Delphie is relatable and her story is so intriguing. I’d definitely recommend picking this up
Absolutely brilliant! A fantastic concept that had me gripped from the first chapter and laughing out loud. I loved watching Delphie build her family, confidence, and the life she wants and deserves. Kirsty writes with real warmth and wit and I challenge you not to devour this gem in one sitting!!
The FMC lives such a boring none existence life, until suddenly she doesn’t, she gets a chance to go back and meet her soul mate but everything she does along the way to meet him makes her less inclined to actually meet him and live the days she has with the people who mean the most! So many twists and turns in this lovely enemies to lovers romance!
I loved this book and have gone and bought the physical copy now for a bookshelf trophy, really looking forward to reading more from this author.
Beautiful book. When I first heard about it, I was skeptic if this story will work out well. And honestly, it absolutely did. Not only does it involve multiple tropes that we all adore, it also included them in such a pleasant and kind of funny way. It matched the whole story perfectly. The characters are easily relatable and you grow feelings for them quickly. I got so invested in this story that I couldn’t help myself and did have a cry. I’m so thankful the book ended in the way it did and didn’t completely rip my heart out.
Amazing book. I highly recommend. Definitely one of my new favourite romances.
Introvert and loner, Delphie chokes on a beef burger and dies.. She is given a chance to save her life if she can get a certain man to kiss her within a certain time. Her lonely life improves as she looks for him, will she be able to stay alive? A completely different theme, ideal holiday reading.
When Delphie dies by choking on a microwaveable burger, in some embarrassing PJs, she reviews her life in Evermore (the afterlife). Her afterlife therapist is horrified by how lonely & unromantic Delphie’s life has been and decides to give her a ten day chance to get her life back- as long as she can get her soulmate to kiss her by his own free will.
Along the way Delphie re-evaluates her life choices, finds friends & confronts her issues caused by bullying & parental abandonment. Her grumpy neighbour gives her some help with tracking down her soulmate Jonah, adventures ensue. Maybe life is worth living after all?
I loved this book, I literally laughed out loud and cried at the realisations Delphie made. I thought I had figured out the ending, but there’s a twist at the end I really didn’t expect. I’ve never read anything by the author previously, but I will be now. I would have liked more supernatural elements, but this book is perfect for romance lovers.
I loveddddd this book and i will ever shut about it I think like ever
It was so good and perfection I was so close to the characters and that made me enjoy it even more
This was such a lovely read. I was instantly hooked & fell in love with the characters straight away. A real feel-good book.
DNF - I kept trying to give this book a chance and I think that maybe it’s just not for me! I gave it a few chapters but the writing was just to awkward and cringey with its descriptions and references that I couldn’t get on board with it. Hopefully those who like cheesy romcoms will enjoy it!

I love, love, LOVE this book!!! I love Delphie, I love Merritt, I love Cooper, I love Mr.Yoon, Evermore, Nevermore and Clevermore - I love it all!! Perfection! An absolute joy to read from start to finish, though definitely plucked at my heart strings too.
I related hard to Delphie, in the best possible way. As a single (by choice!) woman living alone and definitely a bit of a hermit at times, choking whilst wearing my worst most embarrassing pj's is definitely a fear that has crossed my mind once or twice. I'll be sure to swerve microwave cheese burgers forevermore 🤣
Greenwood is a literary genius! LOMAL has a brilliantly unique plot, with the most endearing cast of characters, full of heart and humour with a sprinkle of magical realism.
When I saw the tag line I knew this book would be for me, with How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days being one of my favourite films - and I wasn't disappointed! I was delighted that all of the raving reviews are totally deserved. I am a little sad that this is my first time reading Kirsty's work, but I'm super excited to work my way through all of the books now!
Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, sharing a bed, fake dating - this book has it all and so much more!
Highly recommend, an easy 5 Star from me. A truly wonderful read. The audiobook is also fantastic!
And remember to give romantic fiction the respect it deserves!!

Oh, what a funny, meaningful, and beautiful story! I initially thought I knew how the story would flow. Delphie will do her best to find her soulmate, Jonah. She will find him, but he was in a coma, which is why he can't remember her at all. But the story was more than that. I enjoyed how Delphie jumped through hoops to find him, but in the process, she started collecting friends and experiences, got to live her life, and finally experienced love. The ten-day deadline will leave you on the edge of your seat. But I love how she spent the last two days with the people she cares for and loves. I like the plot twist in the end, and how Delphie's afterlife is connected with her present life. I really enjoyed The Dead Romantic vibes, magic realism, found family—I giggled with all the bookish references like fake dating, the one bed trope, and the mention of other books like One Day in December, The Hating Game, and so many more. The While You Were Sleeping factor towards the end made me like the story more.
3.5⭐️ This was. funny and beautiful magical realism story of love, hope and found family which was easy and enjoyable read. While some things were a little cliche I didn’t find this took away any enjoyment and while I did begin to piece things together and guess what was going to happen it took me quite a while because of how cleverly they were done!
The eclectic mix of quirky supporting characters were mostly fun and relevant to the plot which was.definitely unique, interesting and. little bit crazy!

The entire concept of this book is brand new to me, after reading a lot of books. It was beautifully written and has an addictive story line that you can't pull away from.
I loved the character development, the world building and the entire process behind what the author was trying to achieve. It has so many 'laugh out loud' moments and is truly enjoying.
I'm not usually a Rom-Com girly, but I will happily read this again and have recently added it to my bookshelf 📚
