A very well-written stalker story that kept me on the very edge of my seat. Darry did an excellent job encompassing both horror and thriller in this novel and I was engaged in the story from start to finish. I appreciated the romance elements as well because it helped lighten up this dark tale. The atmosphere was painted perfectly, and I could feel myself getting more scared the more I kept reading. I could definitely see this novel being adapted to a movie and I would certainly give it a watch!
A creepy story about Cally, who has moved to the countryside to re build her life after the death of her controlling abusive ex wife. She meets new people but begins to be increasingly unsure of who she can trust when strange and alarming things begin happening. Moving between her past and present, he story of the relationship with her ex is not easy to read and you may with to avoid the book, if this would be triggering for you. Aside from that and her occasionally questionable judgment this is a quick read that will keep you turning the page or tapping your kindle until the end. Gets an extra star for being UK written and based.
Trigger warning: Suicide and controlling and abusive behaviour.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
A creepy, chilling, stalker mystery triller, involving a coercive controlling relationship & the apparent death of a previous partner.
Advise to read the trigger warnings before picking up.
Fast paced page turner, but sadly realized the offenders identity to early which spoiled it for me.
This book was an easy read that had a fast paced story! It was a unique way to lay out the story with a mixed media take which kept it interesting! The murder mystery aspect was good as well and while i felt like i could see the end coming I still exclaimed "ohhhhhhhhhh" when I got there! I know I'm not the main YA audience but I really enjoyed this story!
Cally Pope does not trust anyone, including herself. She was married to lesbian icon Jules Kay until Jules’ untimely suicide. Hounded by Jules’ fans and the tabloids Cally leaves London for the security of the countryside. She has bought an old glamping business to resurrect and run as her livelihood. When the little strange things that start happening in her house escalate to property damage Cally pushes everyone away, even Laurie Flanagan. Laurie and Cally have been slowly exploring a friendship with hopes of possibly more in the future until now. Unless the culprit is found and arrested, Cally doesn’t know who to trust.
Eyes on Her is a compelling suspense mystery. Darry does a good job keeping us on edge as the story progresses. She offers us multiple suspects with ample opportunities to terrorize Cally. and even though my instinct was correct as to the culprit I was not 100% positive until the reveal. This was an enjoyable read for me.
I received an advance review copy from Bold Strokes Books through NetGalley. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Goodness me, there are some scary moments in this story. On a few occasions I was relaxed, reading a book about a woman building a business in rural Gloucestershire, when I was shaken to my core by yet another ‘episode’. It is genuinely angst ridden and scary.
Cally had a famous wife. Her famous wife is now dead and Cally has moved hundreds of miles to escape and build a new life. Cally had tried to leave Jules several times but her controlling, coercive wife wouldn’t let her. Now, there’s a future of disappearing from press intrusion, while building and expanding her glamping business.
There are loads of locals who’ll help and befriend Cally but there’s also someone who’s followed her and is tormenting her and spoiling her new life. But who? And what do they want?
A perfectly paced, credibly disturbing narrative. And I’ll definitely be checking out other books by this talented author.
I was given a copy of this book by NetGalley.
Well done scary stalker story.
It starts out with a question that gets answered little by little throughout the chapters.
It's very exciting and you will not want to stop reading.
Unfortunately I guessed who the stalker was early on.
I would have given it a 5 star but the ending was a little weak and the epilogue should have at least been 2 years later. They accomplished a bit too much in a year.
But the bulk of the story is very good.
I have was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Cally Pope is determined to leave her past life behind, from the abuse to the end of her relationship in the public eye. In the small town where she is trying to start up a glamping business strange things keep happening to her and she doesn't know who to trust. Is her abusive ex back to haunt her? But that couldn't be possible, could it?
Eyes on Her was a thrilling romantic suspense that had me questioning my sanity at times. I was fully immersed in this intense story and couldn’t put it down. Cally was a really well done character and the way her past was slowly introduced increased the suspense and deepened the readers’s connection to her.

If you looking for a good mystery of who is watching me then this book is for you. Cally is coming from a very abusive relationship and starting a new life. Of course she did not want to involved with no one but there is something about Laurie. I am not trying to give out any details but I did like how the author insert the past so smooth in the story. A good read.
Eden Darry has done it again. She’s managed to scare the freckles off me with her newest thriller, Eyes on Her.
This is definitely one of those horror stories that makes you want to cover your eyes when the really scary part comes along, though that’s really hard to do when you are reading the story instead of watching or listening to it. It’s good there is a romance mixed into the tale that helps to provide some softer moments to all the intrigue.
In this tale, Cally Pope has moved to the small town of Halesbrook. She settled there after separating from her abusive celebrity wife. After the separation, Cally’s wife supposedly committed suicide. Unfortunately, with all the negative attention that caused, Cally picked up a stalker who seems to want to harm her. This causes Cally to distrust just about everyone, including Laurie Flanagan, a lifelong resident of the small town, and someone Cally is attracted to in spite of herself.
There are a lot of heart stopping moments, as there should be in a story like this. The setting creates a spooky atmosphere, especially Cally’s rather old and dilapidated home set at the edge of the forest. The intense cover of this book promises the story inside is going to be a frightening one! The romance is kind of secondary to everything else, but it does provide softer moments that allow our racing pulses to settle down a little. Whew!
I have only one problem with this story. Cally ends up acting like all of those women in the horror movies, doing things she should know better than to do with a stalker following her every move. I kept wanting to yell at her not to do that as I read the book, but I would have scared my cat.
In spite of that, I did truly enjoy this novel, and recommend it to everyone who loves a good scary story with their romance.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for allowing me to read and review this book.
When I first started I didn’t think it would be a book I’d like to read. But I was mistaken because this turned out to be a really good mystery. Cally Pope was tired of living in the shadow of her wife Jude, she was the one who got all of the public to worship her in the way Jude liked best. When things seemed to be going wrong she blamed Cally. No way did Jude want her fans to know she was abusive to Cally. When Jude was reported going over a cliff and dying making it possible for Cally to go away for some peace and quiet. Some of Jude’s fans didn’t buy the police report where Cally was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Laurie Flanagan worked for the forestry service, working around the small town, Halesbrook. She loved her job. Doing what she’d always wanted. The fact that most of her family came from Halesbrook made for an enjoyable workplace.
Now Cally is in Laurie’s forest, hiding from the world. She was hopeful that she’d be left alone but it seems someone here was trying to make her afraid of the old house she’d bought. Now she turns to Laurie to help her make sense of the happenings around her property.
First time I’ve read a book by Ms Darry and if this is a sample of her work I look forward to her next book. Very good mystery, with a dash of romance.

Eyes on Her follows Calley Pope after she moves to a small town to follow her dream of opening a glamping buisness. She is still struggling with the after effects of a very abusive relationship. Strange and disturbing events begin occurring that make her question not only those around her, but everything she knows including her own sanity.
This book touches on some heavy subjects such as the effects of domestic abuse (though nothing physical is truly depicted, mostly emotional and verbal) and possible suicide.
I really enjoyed this book, I love when a mystery keeps you guessing and it did all the way up to the end. I could never get a full bead on someone's motive, and it brings you on the same roller coaster of emotions that Calley experiences. I slammed through this book because I had to know what was going on and the ending was perfect.
A fantastic romantic suspense story that will have you guessing you did it. An excellent plot with quite a few twists and turns.
Thank you, Bold Strokes Books and NetGalley.
This book definitely kept my interest with the characters and the plot development! I love the mystery element in this book. I definitely loved all aspects of the location too! I recommend this book for sure!
Wow! What a ride.
Cally escapes an abusive relationship with her famous wife, Jules and flees London for the countryside after Jules death.
Trouble follows her with a stalker threatening her. She finds it difficult to know who she can really trust of her new friends. She questions if Jules is really dead and her own sanity at times.
The author builds the suspense to the end and has the reader guessing and second guessing their thoughts. The romantic relationship moves the story forward and leads to even more doubts and twists.
The book is thrilling and enjoyable.
Continuous creepy page-turner thriller with much suspense. Wow, that is quite a few adjectives. Cally Pope moves to the sleepy town of Halesbrook to start fresh; away from sad and unfortunate life events where she plans to operate a glamping business. The beautiful tree filled area is pretty isolated which provides the setting for creepy things to happen. There she meets Laurie Flanagan who works for the forestry commission. Although they bump heads initially, there is an interest. Cally also meets a woman named Sian. Cally is happy to make new friends as she begins her "new" life.
First of all, I stayed up way too late to finish this book. I was intrigued from the very beginning and didn't stop until I finished it.
Cally Pope moves to a small town to run a glamping business and in order to get away from the publicity of her wife's death. However, she keeps getting letters and issues keep popping up at her house and business. She is paranoid and doesn't know who to trust or what to believe after everything she's been through.
Laurie Flanagan works for the forestry commission and wants to be her friend, but Cally has a hard time letting anyone in or trusting them. Plus, Laurie is around when bad things happen which doesn't help matters. They semi get along at the beginning and you can tell there is an attraction there, but I wouldn't call this story a romantic suspense. The romance was at the bottom of the list. The suspense and intrigue is what captured my attention and it amped up smoothly. I had guessed who the stalker was, but Darry weaves the story very well that you're still not sure if you're right.
I liked the ending, but I wished we knew what happened to the stalker and the back forth was a little much. Overall, I would recommend this book. Darry weaves a very well written tale that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

oh my goodness me.... what a chiller of a read this one was... on the edge of my seat until i finished it
cally pope is hoping to rebuild her life after the horrendous time and suspicion she was under, her new life is starting to take shape as she build her glamping idea in the new village she has moved to
laurie works for the forestry commission and is against the glamping idea and is opposed to the planning position.. but she is hoping that doesnt affect their friendship from happening
but with mysterious things happening more and more to callys property cally just doesnt know who to trust and each day brings new threatening events
who ever could it be
definitely a page turner and one that keeps you reading till the end...will be keeping an eye out for more of this authors books
Excellent romantic suspense novel with a lot of twist and turns. It kept me on the edge of my seat at times and had me rooting for the characters.
Eyes on Her was a quick, yet engaging romantic suspense novel. This book has a handful of flash-back chapters to add context and backstory to help the reader understand some of Cally's thoughts/behaviors on a deeper level without having too much introspection in the chapters covering the current time. These chapters also helped paint a portrait of the estranged, abusive wife and their life together without Cally having to open up to another character about her entire story. These chapters weren't long, but they added so much to the story — the balance was spot-on. The slow escalation of events, and the yo-yoing of positive and happy moments with moments of disaster and terror was a roller-coaster ride that kept me turning page after page, wanting to know what would happen next. The romance between Cally and Laurie isn't overly mushy or swoony, but it's believable and still lovely. I had two ideas for who the stalker would turn out to be, but it wasn't until the end, when the author revealed the motive, that it made sense for one of them to be a suspect. My only complaint is there are a couple of questions I would have liked to see answered. Is Cally's reputation restored in the public's eye? What happens to the stalker? Overall, this was a fun, quick read.
