Usually I don't like mysteries but this book had me on the edge of my seat until the end! I loved the chaos, the hints and allegations, the terrible surprises that seemed to happen every time Cally turned around. Well written with just enough spice to keep it interesting.
The description of the book seemed interesting, so I wanted to check the story out. Unfortunately, it is not working for me right now. It is nothing against the story or the author, but I couldn't get into the story/characters. I may try and find a physical copy to add the my library when it is released, though, because I think my readers could like it!
Exciting romantic suspense novel. Cally Pope moves to a small town in Gloucestershire to run and enlarge a glamping business she has purchased. She moved to a small town to get away from the notoriety that has followed her after the death of her spouse. But she is now getting threatening notes and her home and business continue to have issues. She isn’t sure who is stalking her or who she can trust. Laurie Flanagan lives nearby and works for the local forestry commission. They hit it off but Laurie is often around when bad things happen.
The tension builds nicely and I had to resist looking to the end, which I never allow myself, to see who is the culprit. There are clues but never the elusive proof. I like how the story wraps up but would have liked a sentence or more about what happens to the perpetrator. This is only my second book by Darry but both times she made me think that charming English villages are a little more sinister than I thought. But only in a nice literary way. Thank you to NetGalley and Bold Strokes Books for the ARC and I am leaving a voluntary review.
I enjoyed this book. Cally who is trying to escape an awful past and try and rebuild her life in a sleepy village and Laurie who just wants to have a loving relationship like her parents.
Unfortuntely for both parties the past doesnt want to rest lots of issues along the way trust for Cally being one of the main problems however she does try to trust the people who she is growing closer too. Would have been nice to have a little closure on what happened to another character in story other than that it was a good read. Thankyou for advanced copy.
Eyes on Her is a thriller with various levels and suspenseful romance. The two main characters, Cally and Laurie, are both well-fleshed out. Their traumatic pasts make them believable as leading ladies of any era, while their longing for a genuine relationship gives them warmth. The clashing of determination to start afresh in Cally and Laurie’s unwavering support creates a compelling, heart-warming tension.
The story is fascinating, with suspense and mystery. The destruction of the glamping business establishes an ominous atmosphere that ensures constant suspense. Furthermore, Cally’s ex-lover, Jules, adds more mystery to the plot.
The sleepy town of Halesbrook, where the story is set, adds to the sense of isolation and heightens tension. The details about the forest and glamping business provide a unique stage setting for this story.
Overall, “Eyes on Her” is an exciting novel that will hold you entirely to the end. A combination of romance, suspense, and mystery with vividly drawn characters makes this a must-read for any fan of this genre.
Thank you to Bold Strokes Books, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the Publisher via Netgalley and voluntarily leaving my review.
Cally wants a fresh start after being in an abusive relationship especially when she gets letters from someone blaming her for her ex death. Cally moves to a sleepy town in Gloucestershire where she plans to live a quiet life and open a business. She gets befriended by some locals Sian and Laurie who oppose to Cally business but also understand that it’s could help the town. Cally and Laurie grow closer despite Cally being suspicious of everyone when she starts feeling that she is being stalk and wonders if it’s could be her ex Jules. I like that Laurie was understanding but is annoyed that Cally was suspecting her but I will have to when people saying something that only the person stalking me would know but overall a good read. This one was actually sad. The things Cally suffered because of Jules, just horrible. And even when she left, she still suffered because of the trauma and a weird stalker. I have read some of Eden's work and I am always intrigued because the twists are always amazing. And the one here was really good. Cally and her suspicions were getting out of hand especially when they started to harm Laurie but damn, the story behind the actual stalker and all that was just a marvellous treat. Laurie's family were something good, very small-village-kind of family-amazing.
It is just really outstanding to comprehend how an abuser can be so manipulative as to convince someone else that they're the good person even when some thing that contradicts the narrative is right in front of them but still refuse to believe it. I say crazy meets crazy but one is crazier. Eden captured that very well because I didn't see that revelation coming. At some point, I was suspicious of Laurie and then Jules and the truth was wow. And then that scene with the eyes... definitely eyes on her.

This book hooked me from the very first page. What isn't there to love about a dead spouse, restarting your life, and a stalker? This was a fast moving book, and was very easy to read! It kept me on my mind racing, trying to figure out what the ending was going to be. My only complaint, the reveal of the stalker... After all the build up and questions, it just felt like a let down. But this was a very good read, Would recommend!
This story had a shaky start, but once it gained momentum, everything I thought I knew shifted. The author skillfully planted numerous clues, keeping the whodunit aspect intriguingly skewed. The ending, though I figured out the culprit, surprised me in other ways on who it actually was not. Cally and Laurie's dynamics were frustrating, especially for Laurie, who deserved better. While I enjoyed the mystery/thriller, I wish there was more closure regarding what happened to a certain character afterward.
