Summary:

Melphiera Marchalrayd has a very particular sense of taste. By that, we mean she enjoys monster meat. Most people would be terrified of the idea of eating monsters, but Melphiera understands that there is a way to make monster meat safe for consumption.

Unfortunately, it's rather difficult to find a husband when you have a reputation for eating monsters. Enter the "Blood-Mad Duke" of Galbraith. He's known to be harsh and aloof, but he may be about to meet his match.

Review:

What a unique concept! Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! Vol. 1 is a quirky and sometimes hilarious start to the series. I can't wait to get to know the characters more, as there is so much potential in this romantic comedy.

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! Vol. 1 introduces us to a world where monsters exist, and naturally, they cause quite a ruckus. For the most part, people seem content to avoid the monsters whenever possible. Except those that are trained to hunt them, of course.

I enjoy the unique nature of Melphiera's taste. Sometimes, the cooking descriptions go too far for my liking (not a graphic thing, more like my brain just shut off at all the details, you know?). Overall, I'd say this is a fun series worth checking out.

Highlights:
Fantasy Manga
Monsters
Romantic Comedy
Medieval Monster Hunting

Will I continue the series? Probably!

Thanks to Kodansha Comics and #NetGalley for making this book available for review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Giggling and kicking my feet. This story is so cute and the artwork so lovely. Cannot wait to read the next installment

It was pretty cute, and left off with a big cliffhanger. I love the fantasy aspect of it. I didn’t enjoy the fact that the monsters were so cute. Killing cute creatures made me uncomfortable. But the storyline is cute too so it almost makes up for it.

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! Vol 1 by Chika Mizube has your eyebrows raising, laughing, and more in this light-hearted, quirky romance.

I admit this didn't end up being my cup of tea... but the art is gorgeous, and it was fun. I just don't know from Vol 1 if I'll be drawn into the romance or world or if it will end up just falling flat for me like Vol 1. That said, If you need a pallet cleanser but want to try something different and don't want to dig deep, think Fluffy Paradise, cozy and wild. This might be your ticket!

Want to thank Netgalley and publishers for giving me the chance to read this book.

A cute manga that gave off manhwa feels. I like the concept of eating monsters. It is a wasted meat! Also what the hell is up with fathers and mothers marrying these complete assholes? Either way, I suggest you pick this up if you like cinderella cooking tropes!

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! is a fun, quirky romance that keeps readers engaged but doesn't seem to have much of a deep plot. I found myself wanting to keep reading but not sure what the purpose of the book actually was. That being said, I sincerely enjoyed reading about the different ways that the main characters found themselves looking for hordes of monsters to hunt so that they could do the taboo task of preparing the creatures as a fine meal. I would love to hear more about the duke and Melphia's story as it comes out, but I am not sure if I see myself looking to buy this manga.

When finding that right significant other, it’s best to find some common ground. Perhaps it can be a shared hobby or interest, or maybe it’s a favorite author or film director. But when it comes to love, nothing beats finding someone with the same kind of food preferences. And it’s a good thing for Lady Melpheria Marchalrayd, who might have found a man who has a keen interest in the culinary art of cooking monster meat.

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! starts off pretty bleak for Lady Melpheria, who is known all throughout the land as “the Voracious Villainess”. She loves cooking and eating monster meat, something that turns off just about everyone she comes across. Things are so dire for her, that she’s got one chance to find a suitor. Otherwise, it’s the nunnery for her! That’s when a monster attacks a banquet, and a surprising guest swoops in for the kill.

Entering with heroic pizazz is Aristide Rogier du Galbraith, better known as “the Blood-Mad Duke”. His monster-killing techniques take Lady Melpheria by surprise. Noticing blood on his face, the Lady informs the Duke to rinse his mouth quickly. When asked why, her monster-eating ways start spilling out like a waterfall. That’s when Lady Melpheria gets a reaction out of the Duke that’s completely left-field, one that’s filled with intrigue.

As the two clean up, the Lady and the Duke continue with their conversation about consuming monster meat. Not only do the facts surprise the Duke, but also of his stewardess Kauss. Of course, unlike the Duke, Kauss finds the idea of eating monster meat repulsive. That’s when Lady Melpheria pulls out a secret weapon: monster jerky! In return for her kindness, Duke Galbraith offers something wilder: his hand in marriage.

Much of Volume One of Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! is the setup to the narrative. You learn about Lady Melpheria’s ways, alongside her infamous reputation. There’s also her family, who fears that marrying a Duke might just be too much for her. But there’s very little to worry about concerning Duke Galbraith, despite his own infamous title. In fact, as this volume goes on, it turns out the Duke and the Lady are like birds of a feather!

However, reading through this volume might make some feel frustrated. Where a story like Delicious in Dungeon or any other food-related series will go to lengths to show the cooking process, this manga doesn’t even hint at the big reveal of Lady Melpheria’s techniques. Yes, she speaks of her cooking skills, but it’s another thing to actually watch them unfold. As such, readers may not have their hunger satisfied if they came to see a girl go full Julia Child on some behemoth carcasses.

Thankfully, it’s the bonding between the Duke and the Lady where Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! shines. A lot of series tend to take their time with romance, whereas this one gets straight to the point. Lady Melpheria knows that Duke Galbraith’s offer is her only chance at avoiding the cloister, and — thankfully — there’s enough about him that she likes that makes her take his marriage offer. The same goes for Duke Galbraith, whose toughness melts away when speaking with the Lady. (Also, some of Kauss’s reactions to the two are genuinely funny, to the point where it seems like this righthand man might just be teasing the Duke over his tastes.)

It doesn’t get to the full course in its first volume, but Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! does give readers a delightful appetizer. Now that the two are betrothed, it’s clear that we’re just about ready to see the cooking magic be unveiled. Will it be a majestic sight watching Lady Melpheria cook, or will it be like finding out how a hot dog is made: best to be left unknown? Either way, I’m salivating!

Thank you to NetGalley & Kodansha Comics for providing me with an e-arc in exchange for a review. :)

It’s been years since I’ve read a manga and this may just have rekindled my love.

Forced into finding a husband, Melphiera attends a banquet in search of her match. The problem? She’s a bit of a foodie who loves eating, the very controversial, monster meat. When a monster ends up attacking the banquet, she’s saved by our main man, who just so happens to not think her eating habits are all that strange, especially when he gets a taste himself.

This was an adorably cute story that left me wanting more. I’m eager to know more about Melphiera’s past and to see how the story will progress.

Pass the Monster Meat Vol 1 kicks off well. I love it when a story jumps right into the story rather than work on establishing expositions.

Immediately we're introduced to an adorably quirky female lead, Melphiera, and soon after the male lead, Duke Galbraith. The interactions between them are cute and funny. I'm excited to see how their relationship grows throughout the story.

I love the passion that Melphiera has for monster meat. The creative ways she's able to use the monster meat and cook with it reminds me of Dungeon Meshi. As a foodie, I enjoy discovering all the fun dishes Melphiera can make with the monsters of her world. I found this volume to be such a light-hearted read and I'm super excited to follow Melphiera and Duke Galbraith on their journey of culinary monster recipes. I totally recommend this to anyone who is looking for a new cute series to start.

Pass the Monster Meat, Miladay! is about Melphiera who is nicknamed the voracious villainous. She's forced to attempt to find a marriage partner or she'll be sent away by her stepmother. Luckily for her, at the last banquet of the season, she's saved by the blood mad duke who takes quite an interest in her culinary arts!

I can't wait to see what Melphiera will be able to cook up. Duke Galbraith is a sweetheart but is rather eccentric by most of their societies standards. The two of them are well matched, and I'm excited to see where their relationship leads them !

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read this ARC !

Not me cooing over how adorable and perfect these two are for each other by the end of chapter 1. They're both idiots (complimentary) and I can't wait to see them fall further in love. So yep, I am hooked on this romance. I was worried this title wouldn't be for me, that it would focus more on the graphic nature of butchering meat. But while that's not left unacknowledged, nor did I find it overly focused on, and the manga overall was still very cute.

I love a good fantasy cooking manga and this was no exception! The main characters were fun and I like their dynamic. This is perfect if you are looking for a cosy romantasy to read. I wished we got to see some actual meat preparation but that's something to look forward to in volume 2 along with learning more about Melphiera's knowledge of monster meat and her mother's laboratory.

This quick read, cozy manga was perfect! I tore through melphie and the dukes introduction so quickly, I wanted MORE. Between the quirky and cute FMC and love at first sight, I was intrigued, but then you add in monsters and a mysterious background story and you've got me hooked!

I cannot get over how cute this story is!!! I adored the animation and the writing and I can't wait to start the second book!

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!

This was an absolutely adorable little shoujo manga in which a bloodthirsty duke is be spelled and taken in by an adorable aristocratic cook!

Absolutely charmed. It was lovely, sweet, and a great comedy. The lead is funny and endearing, and so true to herself.

One of the cutest, most kawaii little romance fantasies. A fantastical world of dresses and balls and terrifying monsters roaming the wilderness. A handsome duke sweeping her off her feet.

Melphiera is avoided by all nobility & potential suitors due to her desire and specialty for cooking toxic monster meats felled by heroic knights and dukes.

A fearless cook matched with the fearless Blood Mad-Duke of Galbraith! Absolutely adorable! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟/5 Stars!

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! (Volume 1) by Chika Mizube is a manga style graphic novel. It is a fantasy romance about a voracious lady who delights in monster meat and a mad-blooded duke who is swept off his feet by her curious charms. Like any proper noble lady, one must have certain acquired tastes. For Melphiera Marchalrayd, she just happens to crave a rather exotic protein -monsters! But do not judge! Despite its bad reputation, monster meat can be used in exquisite cuisine and Melphiera is determined to change the kingdom’s opinion of it! Unfortunately, since debuting in society, Melphiera has been struggling to find her perfect match, until she meets the fearless “Blood-Mad Duke” of Galbraith!

Pass the Monster Meat, Milady! is a fun and well drawn graphic novel. I liked the art style and found the story to be entertaining and amusing. Melphiera's lack of awareness that the duke is interested in her for more than her cooking and interests is fun, and his fascination with her is adorable. This is not a hard hitting story that I would go hunting for, but it is a fun and entertaining read that I thing many readers will enjoy.

A cozy blend of romance, fantasy, and food. I loved the little details; like, how to prepare the meat of monsters safely or the unique ecosystems they live in. The attraction between Melphiera and the “Blood-Mad Duke” is adorable, and I’m excited to see how their relationship progresses. The side characters and also likeable and fun, rounding out the story to be an easy, light-hearted read. Thank you NetGallery and Kodansha Comics for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an unbiased review.

I loved this book. It really gave me the giggles. Our heroine is just a girl with her own little quirks, that just happen to include cooking and eating monsters. She makes an art out of her cooking, and cannot stop talking about her methods, in a cute way.
Now our heroine Melpheira knows that she is on a deadline and must get married when she encounters a monster slayer, a blood-mad duke who is also handsome. A match made in heaven?
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this charming story

Being a foodie can be hard if you like to eat and cook. The calories go straight to your waist, and you get nagged about if you have exercised that day.

What about being a foodie in a world with magic and monsters? Your next meal can literally kill you, and your social life. Lady Melphiera has this problem, where she scares people with her hobby.

Melphiera is such a mood as a character. She loves infodumping about monsters and how to prepare them safely for consumption. Her father indulges this hobby, but wants her settled down with a nice noble, or a knight. Otherwise, it's off to the Cloister for her in a year.

Fortunately, one guy seems interested, Duke Galbraith, He saves her from a monster, and wants to taste one of her meals. The Duke is also as socially awkward as Melphiera is, brandishing monster heads and talking to her with his shirt off. He understands her. She may have her perfect match after all!

Social awkwardness, infodumping, and bonding over niche topics? This is my kind of story. You always want to find the weirdo who gets you. And Galbraith gets Melphiera.

I also adore Kauss. He threatens to steal the show from Melphiera on the first page with his monocle and hair. NoWhat's more, he keeps the Duke grounded. Those are best friend goals.

Totally cannot wait for volume two. I'm having a blast!

An interesting beginning to the series. An enjoyable Female Lead who is looked at weirdly for eating Monster meat. She has been given an ultimatum by her step mother to be married by the end of the season or she will be sent away to a monastery. Due to her actions when a monster attacks she grabs the attention of the Male lead who likes her for the fact she is passionate about monsters and promises to call. She doesn’t think he will really and leaves thinking that she has missed her opportunity to find a husband. She is shocked then when he does show up and wishes to be engaged. Looking forward to the next volume
