The romance in this fantasy manga was a little too fast-paced. There should have been more build up on the main character and why she eats monster meat, how she got into it, how she gets her meat, and why this makes her an oddity in high-society. There also should have been more initial build up of the love interest. He is supposedly a well revered noble, but his introduction was so fast and rose colored through the eyes of the main character that I found him very two-dimensional. This is just the first volume however, so there is definitely potential for the story to grow.

I would die for Melphiera. We love an oblivious queen. She’s kind-hearted, too strong for her own good, unaware of any sort of social faux-pas she might be committing… Melphiera is who I aspire to be in this world. Spending my days being unrealistically strong, and making fantastic food out of unconventional monster meat. That’s the dream.

I empathize completely with the Blood-Mad Duke. I too wouldn’t know what to do when faced with such unrestrained and relentless optimism and love of savory dishes. Honestly, I’m actually kind of enamored with Melphiera because I’ve found so many Manga heroines to be obsessed with sweets and cakes, constantly, and Melphiera’s desire to have full entrees is so refreshing.

If food is your love language, this book is for you. I’m so excited to have gotten to meet Melphiera and Aristide, and can’t wait for the next volume in the series.

Super cute series! Adorable meet cute with the monster crashing the nobles outdoor party and the Duke to the rescue. The series reminds me of Rosario + vampire and Chibi Vampire. “Monstrous girl” and cute boy with a quirk that makes him different from other people meet up and form their own team of loyal people/ family unit. This one is set in a fantasy world with knights who fight marauding monsters who roam the land. Magic is available but not too widely used.
Volume one introduces Melphiera, daughter of an earl, who has been given the nickname Voracious Villianess because she likes to eat monster meat in gourmet dishes. She is a social pariah for her hobby of butchering and preparing monsters. Her step mother has given her one year to find a husband and get out of the house or be sent to convent.
Melphi goes to a noble social event that is like an outdoor picnic for the nobles. She is wondering to the outer edge of the event in search of interesting food to try, when a monster crashes the party in a mad rage. The Blood Mad Duke stops the monster with one stroke of his sword before any guests could be injured. Beginning a cute encounter between the two.

China Mizube has created an interesting world and lovely characters. I can’t wait to read more about Melphi and her research.

“Pass the Monster Meat, Milady” follows a very stereotypical plot of a fantasy royal manga. It starts with your quirky not like other people protagonist, this one being a girl who likes to eat dragon meat. Then, she meets a dashing man who is mean to everyone!! Except her, of course. This story is very plain but the ending did intrigue me. My guess it that this is an iseki and the main character used to either be a monster, be a monster hunter, etc along those lines. Not spoilers as I have no clue but those are the vibes I’m getting.

Overall cute story and art. Not a bad plot just predictable

Very cute romance/"food" manga about what it's like to have someone actually take your weird interests seriously and encourage them!

Melphiera (a girl with a bad reputation because she cooks and eats monsters) is a low level noble living off near the mountains who visits a banquet in order to hopefully find a husband - even though that's not her driving force in life it sure is her stepmother's! While there the banquet is attacked by a beast, and who else comes to save the day than the love interest, a Duke with an equally bad reputation because of his skill in slaying said monsters. However, the Duke is quite interested in Melphiera's cooking and monster-food-preparation skills and for the first time someone is actually not calling her a weirdo villainess??

The way the two interact is with the ease of people confident in what they like and finally refreshed with finding someone they can talk about their interests with openly without any actual judgement, but with a mutual curiosity. It was refreshing to see the heroine be a girl who felt more adult and more steadfast in 'I like this and there's no reason to change for anybody' in a subtle way, and they seem to like each other off the bat! Bless.

But at the end of volume 1, there may be more reasons Melphiera likes to eat monsters than just the great taste...

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the eARC!

Cute art, sweet characters, and as is becoming usual, the FMC has a weird quirk(fetish), but the MMC is OK with, and in fact, intrigued by it.

I do recommend this one if you like sweet romances and pretty art.

I adored this manga! It’s a refreshing premise with characters who even in their earliest stage brim with personality and unusual but compelling quirks. Melpheria and Aristide each have unsavoury reputations, upon meeting it becomes clear they have shared interests and find common ground. The side characters are so fun and the art is just gorgeous! This blossoming friendship (read: relationship!) is exciting and fresh in the world of fantasy manga. I’m so excited to follow their story!
Vibes: cottage core, romantic, fantasy.

An easy to follow and light hearted storyline I can easily see making its way into an anime. Enjoyed by fans of campfire cooking in another world with a romance plot/subplot. However, I don't tend to favor insta-love and find it harder to connect with characters for the reason by this may be reader preference.

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for the eARC. This is my honest review.

4.5⭐️
This was such an interesting take for me. Eating monsters and it being taboo.

But what's really got me is the heart-melting relationship between the main character and her dad. It's just too sweet and downright cute. That moment when her dad was freaking out about the duke's visit?

I need to know more. Her reasons?!!

Review to come in a few days on blog/other places.

I received this book from Netgalley/the publisher in exchange of an honest review.

I just loved the title to this one + the cover was just so pretty (so many details), I just had to request it! So happy I got the chance to read this one~

In this delightful manga we meet Melphiera Marchalrayd, also nicknamed the Voracious Villainess. Why? This girl looks adorable right? Well, this girl has an insatiable hunger for something special. Namely, she loves to eat monsters. Yep. Slice and dice them. Drain, cook, bake them. Whatever you can do she wants to try it all. And yes, that has earned her a reputation to the point that her stepmother is threatening to send her to the cloister if she cannot find a man to marry (I guess that is one way to get rid of your family members, just marry them off). I really loved Melphiera, she was so much fun and I love how brave she was. Though her social interactions at times, well, lacked a bit. Haha. I laughed quite a bit during her first meeting with Aristide Rogier du Galbraith and how adorable she was there.

It was hilarious that the first look we get at Ari (sorry, I am not spelling out your entire name + your nickname is kinda much) is so fitting to his nickname. Yep, just like Melphiera he has earned himself a nickname, and not just anyone. Oh no, his nickname is The Blood-Mad Duke. We find out why he has earned that as the story continued. And yes, given that cold glance he gives after murdering a monster in just one hit, I can understand that people are hesitant to be around him. But really, Ari is just a sweet and wonderful man. Especially since he is also very much into trying out monster meat. Yup. It was fated for these two to meet and to get betrothed (hey, I don't consider that a spoiler as it was pretty obvious for me that this would happen). I really loved how sweet he was to Melphiera and how he tried helping her out with monsters. Provided of course that she makes yummy food for him, haha.

I really loved how these two hit off and how they got quite close at times. Yes, these two have chemistry and I was just rooting and cheering for them both.

Bonus points to Kauss, a knight/butler/aide for the Galbraith House. He was such a cool and fun character. Plus, hello, a butler-type character with glasses and a slight attitude, sign me up!

I loved seeing all the foods that she made or was planning on making! Yes, they are monsters, but is that any different from eating normal animals? Given how yummy it is I would think not. Haha. I would definitely love to try out some of the foods she makes + help her out with preparing. I do love cooking so that would be fun!

I really really enjoyed the art. Not only were the character designs a lot of fun, but I also loved how the food was drawn (thank you for making my stomach rumble, haha).

I am curious what happened to Melphiera's mom and what that lab has to do with it! Hopefully in the next volume we learn more!

I cannot wait to see what is next for this girl + for the duke. I do hope for many yummy moments both in love and food! I would recommend this one.

Omg this was so cute.

Quirky characters, monsters, and a cute romance building off the quirks of the characters. I love this!

I really enjoyed this story; the plot was different from other manga I've read recently. Light and funny; the story flowed well and kept my interest. The art was a little fuzzy for me in the beginning but it improved a bit throughout. I loved that Melphiera just can't help being herself and saying exactly what's on her mind despite how others view her and her interests. People treat her poorly but she stays kind and wholesome throughout. She's a great main character and the "Blood-Mad Duke" is a good balance for her. Both are considered somewhat outcast despite being part of the nobility, but they are unapologetically themselves which is a great moral. This is a great story and I look forward to the next volume.

Thank you NetGalley & Kodansha Comics for the ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I recieved this book as an arc from NetGalley.
This was an amazingly good, warm read!
The mention of the various monster meats made my mouth water as they were described very realistically. The relationship and interactions between the 2 main characters were refreshing and cute. I like that the female lead can actually think and does not hesitate to share her knowledge of monsters and how they are to be prepared. In a world where she is censored and looked down upon, she is unapologetically herself.
Definitely looking forward to the next installment in the series!

Actual rating: 4.5

You know that feeling of falling in love with a new manga? Where you start and you go - this is good… wait this is really good… omg I need ALL the volumes IMMEDIATELY!

I have fallen in love with Pass the Monster Meat, Milady!

Melphiera is our Heroine who loves to butcher and make delicacies out of monster meat. She is being forced by her step-mother to be wed as soon as possible. During one of these outings, a monster strikes the party and the “Blood-Mad Duke” of Galbraith slays the monster and saves the day. Both Duke Galbraith and Melphiera immediately realize they are two of a kind outcasts (an honestly, both are a little bit of a weirdo, but it works so perfectly) and you can feel the delicious tension of them slowly falling for each other, all while talking about butchering and eating the most outlandish and sometimes poisonous of wild monsters.

I am completely smitten and I want every bit of Melphiera and Duke Galbraith’s as soon as I can get it!

One of the best books I've ever read.
This is a book that deserves so much more than five stars.
I loved every second of reading it, I couldn't stop until I reached the end.
I loved the characters, they are wonderful, strong and convinced of what they like. And seeing them interact melts my heart. They are prefects for each other. They understand and appreciate each other.
The story is something like I've never read before, but it's really spectacular. The world building is incredible, full of aristocracy and bits of magic. We are transported to the book by the beautiful drawings. They are full of personality and expressions, and the detail give enormous strength to the story.

I loved it, and it's impossible not to.
I need the second volume.

Thank u netgalley for this Arc to read

I am a huge lover of anime and manga

Reading this made me smile all the way though and I love the fact about all the info given by the main female chatcter about how to prepare and eat monster meat (I could see me and her being friends haha 😄). The story in this first volume was so entertaining and I cannot wait for more to see where the story goes between the two main characters- monster hunter and monster eater (could their be a more perfect couple).

This is a fast read with lovely art throughout

Thank you to NetGalley and Kodansha for the e-arc!

I am always excited to read manga that is outside of my usual genres. This had a unique food element to it that made the story entertaining. The romance was a bit weak but I think as the story progresses, it will improve. I would recommend checking it out if you like food centric manga series. It might not be the most appetizing read but it will definitely make you curious.

ARC Provided by NetGalley

I for one have been totally slacking on my NetGally titles the further into the semester I got. So I decided to pop back over there and see if there was anything new and interesting that I could pick up real quick to try and get back into the spirit of things. And low and behold this title showed up. Now as you all know I am one who will try just about any first volume of a manga I can get my hands on and share the best ones with you guys. So how does this one hold up?

This one was so fun and the MC’s were so cute together. I love myself a good fantasy series and a good cooking series so throw them together and we have an instant recipe for success. The art in here is beautiful which I know it feels like I say about every manga or graphic novel but let me tell you I recently read something where the art was subpar and it noticeably affected how much I was ablr to enjoy the story. So know, when I comment on the art it is only helping propel the narrative and immerse me in the world. Also, this book was so funny. I got quite a few good chuckles in throught and was just loving how all of the characters were bouncing off one another. And that cliffhanger, oh I want to know so badly what that is about.

Thoughts while reading the first chapter to understand the vibes.

-Ok, so eating monster meat is not a common occurrence in this world, always good to know the baseline of standards for a fantasy setting.
-But that then begs the question of why is she eating it.
-I love that first chaper title page, I have a feeling things are going to be good.
-I love a good use of the word ‘ostensibly’
-And a matchmaking event in such beautiful dresses, yes please
-You know she’s hopeless when even her father is asking for the barre minimum of a knight
-What a kindhearted young lady
-Ah, that’s not good
-And there he is, The Pretty Boy
-The dangerous ones are always the most intruiging
-I love a good … panel
-Well done girl, you aimed for a knight and you've probably snagged yourself a Duke
-Now that is some titles for such a sweet looking girl, ‘The voracious Villainess’
-Oh exciting a word I have to look up: Cloister- seclude or shut up in or as if in a convent or monastery.
-This is a fantasy food manga isn’t it
-No my dear, that is not him being put off, that is him falling in love
-Yeah, I have a feeling this is going to be fun

“Any monster can be turned into the most exquisite dish, so long as it’s prepared correctly.”

Melphiera isn’t your average royal. In her spare time, she likes to butcher monsters and… eat them. This odd hobby has given her the title “Voracious Villainess”, which she doesn’t agree with whatsoever. Because, let’s be real, she just likes to cook.

The manga was a delight and exactly what I needed after my recent reading slump. Not many other “monster hunting” mangas have a female lead who isn’t a total badass or tsundere. The romance was sweet and naïve and everything I wanted. I just wish we could have seen more character growth. Judging from the end of this volume 1, this will probably be picked up in the next volume. So, I’m remaining hopeful.

Why 4 stars? Some of the art didn’t look as polished as it should have. I don’t know if it was intentional, but in one of the panels, the main character doesn’t have any hands. They seem to vanish into her dress, but there are no folds or creases that would indicate that. I also found at least one copied panel, and some of the backgrounds were too confusing.

All in all, a solid 4 star read.

Oh how I adored this story! I’m not going to lie, I went into this feeling how most people in the story felt. Somebody who would willing eat monster meat? Gross! But I was proven wrong! This story is full of beautiful pictures, a cozy story, and characters you will come to adore! I’m so excited for this next volume!
