very interesting book, lots of food for thought, and takeaway ideas. I shall be passing this on as a recommendation to family and friends

I enjoyed this read, but it would be useful for the book to explore which careers can be carried on this way. We read of Zoom meetings and downloads, and are cautioned not to let work take over the day to the extent that we forget to enjoy the new view outside the window, or explore the surrounds. This doesn't seem to reflect a travelogue career or photography assignment.

Young people more so, with a job or small business, who wish to pay less for rent and see the world or just more of their country, can take off with a laptop and phone and some other appliances. We're cautioned about leaving things behind, about pickpocketing, and having the wrong connectors for the country or new bit of kit.

The very helpful lists apply to travel, but chapters will be useful to those just plain working from home. Some photos or good art would be nice, and I'd like graphs of how many people are moving to work this way, etc. We're warned you probably won't want to work this way forever, so just collect a nestegg.

I read an e-ARC from Net Galley. This is an unbiased review.

Based on life experiences, advice received, and not necessarily so common sense, this book breaks down how to become a digital nomad with the best start possible. Whilst Kayla is quick to point out her mishaps, she also talks about how to avoid the pitfalls she has tried and tested for you.

The writing style of the book gives the impression that you are being advised by a friend or big sister who has walked the steps you now want to walk yourself. There are anecdotes as well as gems of advice about finances, technology, safety, you name it. This book leaves no stone unturned. With a handy and coherent contents page, and index to boot, it is easy to read the book cover-to-cover, or to dip in and out where you want depending on what knowledge you specifically require.

Whether it is a digital nomad lifestyle you seek, or simply a backpack trip across the globe solo, this book is a useful compendium of hints and tricks. I would definitely recommend this book for travelers and wannabe travelers who are wondering whether they can do this. Ihrig does not leave you to fall into a dream lifestyle blindly, she is quick to point out where things have gone wrong, and that there is a strong likelihood of screwing up repeatedly, but equally, she talks about how this makes the adventure, particularly when you get yourself out of the jam you found yourself in. What I loved most about this book is that is how it had the power to reignite a dream. I love the idea of being a digital nomad, but having a young family makes this seem impossible at present. That said, it has had me thinking about the future and how I might incorporate more travel into my life and find a job that suits the hours I want to keep. All in all, the book surpassed my expectations.

An interesting and detailed guide on how to make the move to becoming a digital nomad.

I think a lot of people have considered this but don't know where to start with even making a plan of what to do and this book gives good practical advice with starting points and things to think about.

Aimed more at those without any ties like kids or a mortgage i feel, I still enjoyed reading though and there are some good hints and tips for working from home even if you don't quite make the full change to nomad.

I requested this book because I was intrigued to learn more about what living as a digital nomad was actually like and was hoping for an honest reflection. Who wouldn’t want to offset the drudgery of the modern 9-5 with glamorous locations, lower costs of living and improved wellbeing? It’s the DREAM! I really enjoyed the style of writing and was inspired by the concept. Not sure if I’ll be packing up my belongings just yet…but it is very tempting!

An easy to read book that provides practical tips along with stories from personal experience, a useful guide for someone looking to embark on a life as a digital nomad. I do think probably aimed at someone relatively young and without ties but that also goes with the lifestyle.

This book contains interviews and lesson learned from all the digital nomads. I actually am a remote worker myself, yet I don't think I can relate with the "nomad" living conditions, but some of the contents of this book definitely relatable. This is a good book although not too technical. Great for reading.

This does what the title says it will - teaches you how to become a digital nomad. Only if one's job allows of course, if you have a district job as I do, it would not be possible but for those jobs where you can work from anywhere, why not travel and work - this book shows you how.

Many people wish they could travel the world, but work gets in the way. One cannot get off to travel due to schedules, deadlines, and the unending work that has to be done. However, there is a way to become a digital nomad - working while traveling around the world. Kayla Ihrig writes about her experience becoming a digital nomad and presents ways that her readers can do the same. Being a digital nomad is working online with no set place to work; one can work in a coffee shop in France, or one can work wherever there is a solid wifi connection around the world. Ihrig explains the similarities that one can experience as a digital nomad and as a worker in one location: burnout can happen. One can overwork themselves and not get to see what they traveled to see. Ihrig shares how to plan becoming a digital nomad, how to keep your career growing as a digital nomad, and how to manage your finances while being a digital nomad. In each chapter Ihrig gives little exercises to help readers develop their plan to become a digital nomad. Ihrig also shares a timeline of what to do in each step of becoming a digital nomad and safety tips. How to Be a Digital Nomad is a great resource for those wishing to travel and work their way around the world. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars.

This was such a lovely and comforting read. It answers so many questions and bursts so many fears around doing something that appeals to so many but only a few have the courage to pursue. Kayla Ihrig really does feel like the friend you're traveling with as she shares stories from her own experiences and it filled me with even more wanderlust as she talked about her time in different places around the world. I would recommend this book to anyone who is considering becoming a digital nomad or who is already living it and wants to get the most out of their experience.

Reviewed from the perspective of someone working remote/hybrid in tech I found this book really helpful for planning my move to self employed consultancy in the digital nomad landscape. This was written in such an engaging way, easy to digest and broken down in a way to take a topic I was finding overwhelming to look at as a whole and breaking it down in to manageable steps. Highly recommend to fellow remote/hybrid workers in tech looking to get themselves out in to the world and find better work/life balance.
