Absolutely love Bryndza’s writing style and characters, they’re such feel good funny books and this one is no exception! A perfect, feel-good read.
Thank you so much for this arc
Miss Wrong and Mr Right by Robert Bryndza and narrated by Jan Cramer was a excellent audiobook that just gripped me from the beginning till the end. It was a audiobook that just keep on giving and made me laugh out loud in so many places especially as it has a great storyline and a excellent romantic comedy.
If you have loved reading Crime thriller series featuring DCI Erika Foster by Robert Bryndza this is a totally different book but a must read and a book by a brilliant author and not to be missed.
Big thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture audio for supplying a copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
In Miss Wrong and Mr Right by Robert Bryndza, a departure from his gripping crime novels, I found myself pleasantly surprised by the author's adept exploration of the romantic comedy genre. The story revolves around Natalie Love, a successful London theatre manager, and her journey through a delightful love triangle involving her yoga-loving boyfriend, a Hollywood star, and her long-lost ex. Bryndza's skillful storytelling shines as he weaves humor, heart, and unpredictability into the narrative. The characters, especially Natalie's eccentric Hungarian gran, add charm and authenticity, while the novel's feel-good ending leaves readers with a rare sense of warmth and joy. Miss Wrong and Mr Right proves Bryndza's versatility, showcasing that even devoted crime fiction fans can find enjoyment in the lighter side of storytelling.
Whatever I was expecting when I started this book….it was NOT this! What a delightful and fun book to read! I had a hard time putting this one down! This has just the right amount of conflict, romance, and (most of all) humor for me! I loved it! So I can now say I’m a fan of the author’s rom com, as well as his stories of suspense!
I've never read a book in this rom-com genre by the author but I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fun read and I had moments I literally lol'ed. Some jokes weren't up my alley but I guess that's not to bad, at least it didn't bother me.
I was rather surprised that Robert Bryndza had written a rom-com, I was more familiar with his dark and gritty crime fiction, such as the series featuring DCI Erika Foster, so I was curious to see what this was like. I read this and listened to it on audio, just over 8 hours and 15 minutes long, ably narrated by Jan Cramer, who varied the tone and changed the pacing through the book, keeping my attention throughout. I found it largely to be a amusing and entertaining read, although there were aspects that did grate and irritate at times, for example, I am not the greatest fan of slapstick humour and sometimes Natalie Love got on my nerves, her personality a little too blind to what is going on. It begins with Natalie becoming aware a little late in the day that she does not want to get married, deciding to run out as she is walking down the aisle to marry sweetheart Jamie.
Natalie realises she wants more from life than the restricting, insular future that she forsees if she marries Jamie, and refuses to reconsider being with him. Her wedding dress is being burned in a drum as we encounter her larger than life, wildly outrageous Hungarian grandma, Anouska, a major highlight of the book, who offers a way out for Natalie and her best friend, Sharon, to move to the big city life and opportunies of London. It is 15 years later that we catch up with the successful life Natalie has carved out in the theatre, with her self obsessed 'Namaste' boyfriend and yoga instructor, Benjamin, her life set to descend into the ridiculous, becoming manic, crazy and chaotic beyond belief. Professionally, her career is in a great place with Hollywood's Ryan Harrison starring in Macbeth, but then there is the shocking re-entry of Jamie into her life, with his unavoidable presence across the street.
We follow the drama as Natalie tries to work her way through her confusion as to which man is for her, I was desperately hoping, that whatever happened, that she wouldn't settle for Benjamin! This was a light and frothy reading and listening experience that I can see appealing to a wide range of readers, many of whom are likely to enjoy its comedy and humour more than I did, I would like to recommend the engaging audio format. Having said all that, I will look out for Bryndza's next rom-com, but particularly look forward to his next gritty crime fiction book. Many thanks to the publisher for the ALC and ARC.
I love this author and normally stick to his detective series but thought I’d give this title a go and I wasn’t disappointed. A lighthearted funny romance book with plenty of laugh out loud moments. Would recommend this book.
Natalie Love is about to put on Macbeth at the theatre she runs. It is starring American actor and heartthrob Ryan Harrison and even before rehearsals the play is getting plenty of attention. So when a pop up production across the road is set to begin at the same time, Natalie and her crew are slightly worried. What’s even worse is that Jamie Dawson, the ex she left at the alter years ago is running it!
With so much going on and her nan turning up out of the blue, Natalie has a lot on her plate, including her boyfriend Benjamin and his refusal to commit.
Can Natalie pull the show together in time, or will Jamie and his production be nothing but trouble?
I’m a big fan of Robert Bryndza’s books but I have to admit this is the first of his rom coms I’ve read. It was a great book from start to finish with lots of hilarity in there as well as parts to bring a tear to your eye. I think Natalie’s Gran was my favourite character, I do love an eccentric older character and she was brilliant. If you love a rom com I highly recommend it!
Miss Wrong and Mr. Right is a joy to read.
At first, I was nervous in the prologue (jokes about which Nazi leader was most attractive were a little much), but it progressively got better once I understood more of the author's writing style. The slapstick is over-the-top, from a pigeon catastrophe to a catfight featuring an award that stamped the word "fat" on Natalie's face, but between the outrageous comedy bits is a story with great levity.
Organized in three acts, Natalie's story follows her trials and tribulations with three different men. Act One features a yoga instructor that treats Natalie horribly, but she stays tied to him because she fears being alone at 35. Thankfully, his story and his screams of "namaste" at any inopportune time are confined to the first act. If there was more of Benjamin in the story, I probably wouldn't have finished this. The comedy behind his villainy just didn't sit well with me. Act Two bumped my rating up. It features the famous actor starring in the play at Natalie's theatre, who wants to have a normal life. He joins Natalie for her nephew's christening, allowing for small town shenanigans and a look into the life of celebrity. Act Three stars Natalie's ex-fiance from when she was nineteen, and he never quite got over her. He had popped up throughout the story, with the failed wedding serving as the prologue, and it is nice to see their story both come to a close and begin again.
In a romance industry that is dominated by tropes, it's nice to find a story that has a little of everything. Workplace romance, small town, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, you name it. It's like having three novellas in one. A strong supporting cast, particularly in Gran, ties everything together nicely. If American readers can get over the initial hurdles in the comedy style, this book is certainly Mr. Right.
Natalie leaves her fiancé at the altar and moves to London, where she is now the manager of a theatre.
The theatre have a major Hollywood star who is going to be the top bill in Macbeth, but over the road, her ex fiancé appears, planning on opening up a Burlesque show.
What follows is a hilarious romantic comedy that had me laughing a lot. My absolute favourite of all the characters was Natalie’s Gran, she was the life and soul of the party!
Poor Natalie has the most annoying boyfriend called Benjamin, and I just couldn’t understand what made her go out with him in the first place! He irritated the hell out of me in his first few comments.
A well written and enjoyable rom-com. It had everything coming together and wrapped up with a bow on the top by the end.
My thanks to NetGalley and Raven Street Publishing for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
"I'm so happy I saved this gem for the perfect moment. Amidst the chaos of my life, this book was a breath of fresh air that had me giggling uncontrollably. Who knew a rom-com could be the perfect antidote to stress? Robert Bryndza's mastery of the genre is a delightful surprise, given his reputation for gritty crime fiction. But here, he shows off his versatility, crafting a lighthearted tale that's both wickedly funny and heartwarming. I'm still grinning from ear to ear, and I can't recommend this book enough for anyone seeking a mood-boosting, laugh-out-loud escape.
The cast of characters is a lovable mix of quirky, charming, and hilarious individuals who will capture your heart. Natalie's journey is full of surprises, and I found myself eagerly turning the pages to see which way her love life would unfold. But the real scene-stealer is Gran - a sassy, spirited gem who I absolutely loved . The story's warmth and humor will leave you feeling uplifted and content, like a cozy hug on a chilly day. Don't miss this sweet treat of a book - it's the perfect pick-me-up for anyone looking for a lighthearted, feel-good read."
Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with advance copy ♥️
I was given an ARC audiobook by NetGalley of this overall very enjoyable book. I loved how the author was able to give the reader (and listeners) a strong image of Natalie’s life (including work, personal and family relationships). As a Canadian, I loved all the Briticisms that reminded me of my family in the UK. But my favourite part about the story? That would have to go to Natalie’s Gran, Anuskha! The narrator did a fantastic job at imitating the accent of an old Hungarian woman, and I had several moments where I was laughing out loud from the things that came out of Gran’s mouth.
This story included themes like second chances, appreciating family, and not judging others by their appearances. Though there was some character development from the FMC (Natalie), I wished that there was a bit more relationship development between her and the MMC (Jamie). Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable book.
Overall rating: 3.5 ⭐️ (rounding up)
Spice level: 2/5 🌶️
Robert Bryndza is well known for his chilling crime thrillers and I have read and enjoyed many of them. This is his first book that I know of where he has turned his hand to the rom-com genre and he produced a really good one!
Description:
'This is men,' said Gran. 'When they vant you, but you don't vant them, they stay. But let them know you vant them, they no longer need you, and they go! It's like that movie, Nanny McPhee.'
Natalie Love has worked hard to have it all. She runs a successful London theatre that's about to host one of Hollywood's leading stars, Ryan Harrison. She's pretty sure she's found her man in yoga boyfriend Benjamin, despite his annoying habit of saying Namaste! every time he speaks. And her eccentric, glamorous Hungarian gran is always on hand to offer sage advice and steaming bowls of goulash.
Life in the bright lights of London has always been Natalie's escape from her chaotic family in rural Devon and Jamie, the childhood sweetheart she left at the altar fifteen years ago. Until he turns up at her theatre door...Jamie is in town producing a West End show and with rivalry suddenly clouding old feelings, this isn't quite the reunion Natalie was expecting.
Will Benjamin prove to be Natalie's perfect match? With Ryan turning her head, Natalie is more confused than ever. And what about Jamie - could he be her second chance at first love?
My Thoughts:
I would describe this as a second-chance romance type of book. There were a lot of laughs with some really funny scenarios - the first scene shows us Natalie burning her wedding dress. I was hooked at the start. Also, Natalie had three possible romantic paths - Benjamin, Ryan and Jamie. I wasn't sure which path she would take until near the very end. It kept me guessing. I have to say my favorite character was Natalie's gran, Anouska. She's such a great quirky character - I love it when older people are such stand-outs!

I had no idea that Robert Bryndza wrote light-hearted romance, and am so glad that I spotted this book on #NetGalley !
Miss Wrong and Mr Right is a delightful novel with a relatable heroine who gets into some incredible and humourous situations. The storyline is compelling, the characters are fascinating, and the author provides enough tension that you keep turning the pages to see how the book ends.
The book is as well written as you would expect of this author, who clearly has no trouble writing across genres. He has definitely created a fun read with #MissWrongandMrRight .
I loved this book a lot. It made me laugh so much! The romance was perfect and I loved that the main female character ran a theater. Would highly recommend this book.
Haven’t read a book that made me laugh so much, absolutely love it! I was saddened to reach the end.
A really enjoyable read, light hearted and funny - it really did made me laugh out loud in places! Love his crime books and now, love his romantic comedy books too! I'm off to check out his Coco Pinchard series.
