This graphic novel is hilarious and perfectly bizarre - was absolutely rooting for the main characters and couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
Join Abigail, a promising heroine in a wild west adventure.
Abigail and her pet dinosaur, Rootbeer, live on the outskirts of the Town of Little Spittle. Abigail has aways dreamed of being the sheriff.
When the Bandit Queen threatens the town. She must join forces with the deputy, Clementine to save the town.
Can they save the town? Will Abigail be the sheriff ?
This is written as a comic strip with bright colourful pictures, captions, speech bubbles and thought bubbles. The font size is easy to read.
My son and I read it together. He found the storyline quite easy to read. He found some words difficult to read but still it didn't spoil it for him. He particularly liked the main two characters and how it's written.
I think is great for reluctant readers and young readers because of the type of text, the colourful pictures and layout, they will enjoy reading it.
Fun quirky kids graphic novel. Art style and story are brilliantly bizarre. Looking forward to more of this series.
This was a really, really fun book! I like the humour and I find it really cute. Funny enough, despite knowing quite a bit about dinosaurs and cowboys during their respective ages, I never realized what it would be like to put the two together because, technically, they both are from the same areas, especially in the United States but for some reason no one ever puts them together because it seems so distant.
Overall a fun book, recommend for younger readers
Cowgirls and Dinosaurs - Big Trouble in Little Spittle by Lucie Ebrey
This is a graphic novel set in the Wild-West following the adventures of Abigail, Clem and Rootbeer trying to defeat the Bandit Queen and save their town from bandits, dinomagik and undercover attacks.
I enjoyed the vivid colours and the action-packed story. Abigail’s pet dinosaur Rootbeer is very cute, strong and funny. The way Clem exaggerates everything is hilarious as she always starts running around and panicking. I also found it great that Abigail and Clem are so different but still manage to be friends.
Perfect for fans of the Hilda and the Lumberjanes, for ages 8+
Thank you to @netgalley and @bonnier books Uk for the E-arc against our honest review.
Cowgirls and Dinosaurs is out on June 6th.
Very cute graphic novel. Not like any I’ve read before. There is far more detail added to it. Beautiful illustrations as well.
A cute story about finding yourself and who you want to be. We follow Abigail as she tries to become the deputy of Little Spittle but finds out just how hard it can be when the Bandit queen comes to town to steal the calcified heart and awaken dinomagik. Abigail along with Clementine, the daughter of the sheriff and current deputy, must find a way to stop the bandit queen but find themselves with more than they bargain for.
I really enjoyed the illustrations and the message of this book. This would be perfect for reluctant readers age 7+.
