I loved this book, it had me hooked from the first page.
The characters were written so perfectly. You couldn’t help but fall in love with them, I loved the fact that Georgina was older than the amature sleuths I’ve read about in other books. It gave a whole new outlook on things and Doris, I loved everything about Doris, as soon as I got to the part of the book where Doris first comes up it made me love the book even more, I’ve never read a book where some like Doris is written in and I think it’s fantastic. The storyline was amazing and I love the historical aspects of it and all the details that went into describing the hall and the ice house. It was just an incredible book all round.
I honestly couldn’t put this book down and I have already downloaded “The body at Rookery Barn” I cannot wait to jump back into it. I really hope you write more books in this series as I am obsessed and I will be reading every single one!!!
4.5 Stars
It's always a little challenging when you jump into a series without reading the first book, but there was enough background woven throughout that it made sense pretty quickly. Very creative take on a dual-timeline mystery. I am very interested in reading more by this author.
I received an ARC; this is my honest review.

Georgina Drake’s job photographing beautiful Hartington Hall takes a dramatic turn when she enters the ancient ice house to find the lady of the manor dead on the floor. The second wife of the irascible owner of the hall, Karen Berry had plenty of enemies. Her death could have been an accident, but when Georgina hears how Karen had argued with her husband, alienated her two step-daughters, and fired the long-standing housekeeper for theft, she’s not convinced…
As the police, led by attractive DI Colin Bradshaw, round up the household for interviews, Georgina takes her suspicions and her boisterous spaniel Bertie for a walk through the grounds. And is horrified when he digs up a human skeleton. Georgina is once again in the middle of a baffling mystery. What dark secret at Hartington connects the two crimes and can Georgina unmask the killer before they strike again…?
This is the second in the #georginadrakemystery series. I really like this series as Georgina is an older widowed heroine. She has a ghostly companion only she can hear thanks to her hearing aids and a dog (thanks to her friends in book 1). This book shows more of Georgina resuming life after the death of her husband. I am very excited to read book 3!
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

What happens when a photographer enters a grand home only to find the (2nd) wife dead? As the police go about questioning everyone and collecting clues, the photographer and her dog go for a walk. Her dog uncovers human remains and she is really in the thick of things.
Are the two deaths somehow related?
