I am not sure how I feel about this book, Yes, the concept and idea is important. But the form and .... hidden blame just threw me off(
The sixth level bases itself as a new level to Maslows hierarchy of needs. The original ends at hierarchy, but this discusses a need for something other than individual human development, pointing out that this research is based almost exclusively on men. This book challenges us to work beyond self-actualisation to grow in connection for better leadership.
I think this book brings up some interesting points, regarding how leadership is taught, and how research on women in leadership positions has been non-existent for quite some time. Considering that companies with female board members and women in leadership positions statistically do a lot better, I think it’s a great introduction to a new, possibly better, way of thinking about leadership.
There are also examples of the things that are discussed, which makes it easier to understand as it relates the information to specific incidents. Although most of the information is based on women as leaders, I think every leader can get valuable insight from reading it.
Overall I thought this book was very well researched, references a lot of different studies, and presented interesting ideas. A lot of which I will definitely be bringing with me as a leader at my company.
