Throne of Air and Darkness is a thrilling continuation of the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, raising the stakes and deepening the emotional complexity introduced in Book 1. Emberly Ash expands the fae world beautifully, adding new realms, alliances, and betrayals that kept me fully immersed.
The tension between characters—romantic and otherwise—was even more intense in this installment. I appreciated how the main character’s growth was tested through morally gray choices and the ever-present pull between light and shadow. The pacing was strong, and there were several twists I didn’t see coming (but loved every minute of).
I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 only because a few transitions between major scenes felt slightly abrupt, and I occasionally wanted more depth in the secondary characters’ arcs. Still, this sequel delivered everything I hoped for: magic, mayhem, and a dash of heartbreak. I’m definitely in for the next book!

This is the second installment in the series, and I found myself even more hooked than I was with the first I could not out it down!!!
It was packed with everything you would want in a fantasy! Adventure, suspense, lots of action and a touch of very steamy romance, it gives you the perfect mix of everything, which made for a really really great read!!!

This is the sequel to Crown of Earth and Sky and there was a lot more background info provided this time around. I still really appreciated the dual POV in this story and I felt that it the pacing of this book was well written. On to the next one!

This was a really good book im loving the characters and the plot is really ramping up the romance is wow yes please give me more i was screaming and stamping my feet i just love arran in this we get to different realms and alot of things getting revealed and i couldnt put it down and i jumped straight into book 3 id highly recommend i rate t starshi 4.5

I was really hoping for more out of this book. The first book was bland, and just kind of bleh for me. I was hoping this would pick up in book two as more answers and pieces of the plot were revealed, but I was sadly disappointed. Veyka continued to be selfish and angry for no real reason, Arran continued to be a bland, generic fae MMC, and I still felt like for the majority of the book nothing was really happening. I also got very tired of listening to the author’s description of Veyka’s body. As a plus-size person, I appreciate the representation, especially in romance, but most of the time it just wasn’t flattering at all. Consistently pointing out how large someone is, and how they are so much bigger than everyone else really wasn’t a great way to represent a plus-size character. That’s actually my worst nightmare- that everyone around me notices how much bigger I am than they are. It really turned me off of the book. I also understand that because they are now a mated pair in this book they need to be close to each other, but it honestly just was too much for me. Too many spicy scenes there that didn’t really add anything to the story, and just felt unnecessary. Also the need for them to constantly be touching because of the bond was also a bit much for me. I really hate writing negative reviews, because I know writing and being an author is hard, but this book was just not for me. I don’t think that I will continue with the series.

I had a really good time reading this. The plot was entertaining and the characters were fairly well-written. However it did feel a bit predictable for me at times and while I love that is has fantasy elements that I love, it didn’t feel like it brought anything fresh to the table.
I’d say this is definitely a go to recommendation for those just starting out on in the fantasy genre.

Enjoyed the plot and characters. The fantasy world was well done and I liked how Emberly was able to twist and turn the surprises in ways I never saw coming. I also loved the FMC as she fought for the HEA.

Throne of Air and Darkness by Emberley Ash offers a decent mix of fantasy elements and romance, with an intriguing setting and solid world-building. The story follows familiar tropes, bringing in magical conflicts and a high-stakes royal plot that fans of the genre will likely enjoy, though it doesn’t necessarily break new ground. The characters are likable but might feel a bit predictable, and while the pacing sometimes lags, the action and romance do pick up in key moments. Overall, it’s a good read for those looking for a straightforward fantasy escape, though it may feel a bit formulaic for seasoned fantasy readers.

Throne of Air and Darkness is the second installment in the series, and it truly exceeded my expectations. The book is packed with thrilling action, rich character development, and a more intricate plot than I anticipated. Emberly Ash skillfully crafted each scene, bringing the characters to life with distinct personalities that we can really connect with throughout the journey. This story is a captivating read that keeps you engaged from start to finish!

This was the PERFECT follow up to crown of earth and sky.
A little enemies to lovers, political intrigue…I can’t wait for book 3!

"Throne of Air and Darkness" by Emberly Ash continues the gripping tale from the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, picking up right where the first book left off with Veyka's mysterious disappearance. This installment delves even deeper into the struggles of fighting for love amidst adversity. Themes of redemption, fate, and healing from past trauma are explored with a darker tone and mature content, so be sure to check the content warnings. The story features a fierce, protective female lead, intense court politics, a found family dynamic, and representation of mental health, all wrapped up with a compelling romance and a plus-size heroine.
I undoubtedly love the characters and their intricate relationships. The author crafts these characters so vividly that you can’t help but become deeply invested in their journeys and connections. The romance between the main characters is beautifully complex, filled with angst and raw emotion that makes it feel genuine and impactful. Cyara, in particular, has captured my heart—trust me, you’ll understand why if you read it.
While character development is at the forefront, it's also worth noting the story is also driven by a gripping and mysterious plot. The unfolding events surrounding Arthur’s death and the prophecy keep you guessing and engaged. The pacing is dynamic, with plenty of twists to keep you hooked. Be prepared for a cliffhanger ending that will leave you reeling— I was left emotionally overwhelmed, knowing it would be a tough finish but still completely caught off guard.
*Thank you to the author and NetGalley for the ARC.

I requested this book before finishing the first. This series was not for me and I won't be continuing with it. I enjoyed the writing and overall plot, but the romance did not do it for me!

I loved book one in this series and was so excited to continue the journey in book 2.
I love a good romantasy with some strong character and relationship development - and especially some spice

Love love loved this spicy fantasy romance! With that cliffhanger I cannot wait to read book 2.
Who can say no to a 7 foot tall rock solid muscle far prince?? Not me. This book does a great job of being spicy but also allowing the FMC to feel her feels in grief and shape her character.

I would like to thank NetGalley for sending me an ebook copy of this to read and review. I would say I enjoyed this book very much. The world building, characters, dialogue, romance, and plot were enjoyable and fun the read about. I really enjoyed Vekya's journey from being a selfish princess to a formidable queen. I enjoyed her chemistry very much with Arran as well as the banter between them. I really liked how we got to know more characters and that plot twist at the end was incredible.

The continuation of the relationship between the characters took a path I was enthralled to continue reading. The character development of Veyka specifically was so good and exactly what I look for in a fantasy main character. She’s bad ass, flawed, but has a huge heart for her people. The relationship between Veyka and Arran is also unmatched!

I received this book from Netgalley.com and I was expecting to enjoy this book. But sadly I just could not get into it and DF'd and it just felt like it dragged on.

I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley. Thank you for the opportunity
Dark and chilling with definitely hot romance

I loved the first book and Book 2 didn't fail to deliver at all!
Romantasy is my favourite genre to read and I eat up any book about fae and magic.
I read the first book when I got it on stuff your kindle day and I feel so lucky to have had the chance to read this arc!
Thank you!

Thank you to Victory Editing Netgalley Co-Op for a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I read book one and it was a 5 stars for me, so naturally I had to read this one!
Overall this one was likely a 4 stars for me, I enjoyed it so much & there were also some slower parts but I am so invested in the story and the ending really caught my attention.
First off, I love our two main characters, Veyka and Arran, and their story together. I loved their character arcs in the first book and I enjoyed seeing further development here as rulers. They really start to come into their roles as rulers! I do tend to get lost in these characters and their story and overall really enjoy how they are written and the overall writing in these books so far!
The world opened up more in this book as we traveled throughout the human realm and it was fun to see different pockets of the world and its behaviors. I will say that we did tend to stay a while in certain areas, and that felt like the story slowed down for me, I would have preferred a faster pace but also really enjoyed the new areas of travel.
The plot in the second book was a bit slower as we stayed in different places and met different characters. It was fun to meet new faces but I do wish we had a bit of the same faster pace as the first novel. The end is difficult and I need to drive into the 3rd one ASAP!
I am having so much fun reading this series, and recommend it to anyone that wants to try a fun new romantasy series!
