Really liked learning a bit about Veyka's powers and her round table. I felt that it did drag a bit but there was world building and relationship building that helped with timeline. Leads to a lot more questions and not as many answers. Romance/spice, action, found family, looking forward to book 3.

This was an intense read that left me with more questions. I'm intrigued to see what happens in the next book, which I thankfully have on my eBook shelf. The nods to Arthurian legend were a nice touch and as always Arran and Veyka provided a lot of entertainment!

"Throne of Air and Darkness" by Emberly Ash is the second installment in the "Secrets of the Faerie Crown" series. The novel continues the story of Veyka Pendragon, who finds herself thrust into the role of High Queen of Annwyn, navigating the complexities of faerie politics and dark prophecies.
The book excels in its portrayal of Veyka's character development. From a self-centered individual to a leader willing to protect her realm and allies, her transformation is commendable. The romantic tension between Veyka and Arran Earthborn adds depth to the narrative, exploring themes of love and loyalty amidst chaos.
Ash's world-building is intricate, painting a vivid picture of the faerie realm and its inhabitants. The political intrigue and the looming threat from the human realm keep the reader engaged. The action sequences are well-crafted, providing a good balance of suspense and excitement.
However, the novel falls short in delivering a fresh perspective within the genre. The plot occasionally feels predictable, and the pacing can be uneven, with some sections dragging on unnecessarily. The narrative sometimes gets lost in the details, which can detract from the overall momentum of the story.

-I was back to not liking Veyka for the first part of this book. She was stubborn and annoying and tiresome. I just struggle to connect with her character at times. Again, she got better as the book went on though.
-This book focused a bit more on politics and action than the first book, which I appreciated. It helped to balance out the spice. I enjoyed the prophecy and quest elements. I also enjoyed the expansion of the world-building.
-Multiple POV was a good storytelling choice.
-There was still plenty of steam in this one, but this book had a better balance of spice, romance, and plot. That said, the constant lustful thoughts and comments were a bit distracting from the story/plot even if the level of spice was more balanced in this book.
-I appreciated that the romance was more about developing trust and comfort with vulnerability and allowing themselves to be fully seen and loved for who they are (compared to the first book where it was pretty much all lust)
-There was still some repetitiveness in the writing (ie: mentioning over and over that they are mates), but it didnโt annoy me as much in this one as it did in the first book. I still cringe at the frequent use of โp*ssyโ, itโs just not my preferred word choice lol. ๐ฅด
-I did notice that there were numerous typos and grammatical errors throughout the ARC, but they didnโt impact my enjoyment of the book overall. I could see how it might annoy some people though. Iโm hoping those were fixed by the release of the final version.
Overall, this was a good read! I think the world-building is really interesting and am enjoying that the plot is getting more complex as well. I enjoyed this book more than the first book and am interested to see where things will go in the next book.
Thank you to Emberly Ash, Victory Editing, and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

At the end of book one, (2.75โญ๏ธ 4๐ถ๏ธ) I was intrigued by the premise of the story. The reimagining of Arthur and Roundtable is always exciting for me. This book definitely encompasses the journeying aspect of the Arthurian legend.
The story picking up immediately after the end of book one. A lot of the lingering questions from book 1 were approached in this book, but so much foreshadowing happened that the twists and turns were expected.
It came to point about 60% through where I just started skimming because I was tired of all of the Spice that didnโt move the plot forward. It was exhausting having every other plot beat be a bedroom/tent spicy scene. I was ready for the plot to move forward and it seems like every time that things started moving, It got stalled out because of this.
I think part of the faded meat trope that makes it harder to do well is that there isnโt enough establishment of oneโs self before the trope is included in the plot. I feel like with their meeting bond being foreshadowed so early in the series, it feels like they have been an official couple for quite some time. And so all of the grappling back-and-forth with accepting their mating bond was exhausting and made we want to DNF the book.
The characters are decently flushed out. I love the badass FMC. She was so solid in the first book that I found her wishy-washy in this book. It felt like all the character building and personal growth became completely undone.
The addition of the two new Pov is were fineโฆ But not necessary. I found that it seemed to just be a way to make us not forget about the characters who were left at home. By the time they were introduced, I was already fatigued by the whole story and found myself not invested.
I will not be continuing this series.
Thank youโre NetGalley and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-Op for an arc copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

This book is a significant improvement from book one. The pacing is smoother and more natural, making it easy to get lost in the story. Plus, there's a lot more character development this time around, which adds a new level of depth. The characters really shine as they grow and evolve throughout the book. However, like the first book, this one also packs a big pinch of spice, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. But for those who enjoy a bit of heat in their stories, this aspect will likely be a hit! Overall, "Throne of Air and Darkness" leaves readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. It's a compelling read with smoother pacing and deeper characters to keep you hooked until the very end.

The second book followed the cliffhanger in the first book beautifully and even though I read this book while I was in a reading slump, it did not disappoint and I couldn't put the book down towards the end. Again, it was beautifully written by the author Emberly Ash! The character development of the main characters in this book was spectacular, from Veyka growing to being selfless and a true strong Queen and from Arran showing his soft and caring side for his mate, they balance each other very well! I love the chemistry between these two strong characters! My favourite lines from Arran are "I will find you, Veyka. I will tear apart this world, realm after realm until I find you. I will follow the bond, dig my own heart out of my chest to find that golden thread that connects us, and then I will use it to find you. I will never let you go. Not now, not in a thousand years. I am the greatest power Annwyn has ever seen. No one and nothing can keep you from me. Not even the void." And "I would have waited a thousand years for you to realize what was right in front of you."!! My heart just melts from his words to his mate!! ๐ญโค๏ธ It was also great to read Parys' and Gwyn's pov in this book, I was just a little thrown off as it was written in a third person pov instead of first like Veyka's and Arran's but it was still refreshing to hear the other character's pov in the book. Also, the loyalty of the characters such as Cyara, Lyrena, Osheen, Maisuri, Parys, and Gwyn to their high queen and king is outstanding! There were a lot of unexpected scenes in the book that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I cannot wait to read the third book! I have received this book from Netgalley. Thank you to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for giving me this ARC and Thank you to the amazing author, Emberly Ash for writing this amazing fantasy series!

After finishing Crown of Earth & Sky last week, I needed to dive straight into Throne of Air & Darkness. I needed answers, which I got, but I also ended up with loads more questions & will be reading the next book, Court of Vines & Vipers, next month, because I need more.
As I said in my last review, I love this magic system & the new elements & characters introduced in this instalment really added to the tale. I also loved the additional viewpoints in this book as it opened up more knowledge for the reader.
With several elements, & lives, hanging in the balance, I can't wait to move onto the third book.

I cannot wait for book three! The suspense is real and I need to know what will happen next with Veyka and Arran. The set of supporting characters are just as intriguing to me as the main characters.

WOOOO!!
I love when a sequel lives up to the first book in a series!!!
Veyka is back- and Arran Earthborn is at her side. There is so much spice and fire between these two- it was gripping!
The world building was also improved in this, but there was significant groundwork laid out in book 1 that was helpful for this story. Revenge, deception, a kingdom of unrest- Throne of Air and Darkness has something for everyone!!
I was really happy that Veyka continued to be a kick ass FMC- I find sometimes when a love interest is established, the FMC who was previously loud and outspoken starts deflecting towards the male, but Veyka remained in charge and at the forefront of this series.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.

Throne of Air and Darkness is the second book in the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series.
Plagued by an ancient prophecy, Veyka and her allies journey to the human realm, desperately seeking answers as darkness looms and threatens Annwyn.
Haunted by their pasts and shrouded in secrets, our FMC and MMC struggle to find balance with their fervent yet tumultuous bond. I loved seeing their relationship evolve from the first book and we are rewarded with plenty of steamy moments. ๐ชญ๐ชญ๐ชญ
This multi POV sequel brilliantly portrays each MCโs journey of healing and self-discovery. This book gives us so many shocking reveals while expanding the world and left me gasping, screaming, and reeling. I cannot wait for Book 3!
Huge thanks to Emberly Ash and NetGalley for the opportunity to review with advanced copy! This is my honest and voluntary review.

Great sequel to the first book. Towards the end of the book we receive a lot of information (which is still unclear) and plot twists which made the story very interesting. I will be waiting for the third book

Thanks to NetGallery for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Throne of Air and Darkness, the second instalment in Emberly Ash's Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, continues the gripping saga where the first book left off. Veyka Pendragon, never destined to be queen, finds herself thrust into the role nonetheless, grappling with newfound power and a love that defies fate. As she embarks on a perilous journey to unravel the mysteries surrounding her realm and her heart, she faces betrayal, battle, and a quest for truth that takes her to the human realm. The plot is rich with magic, politics, and romance, weaving together a tapestry of adventure and intrigue that keeps readers eagerly turning the pages.
The strength of this book lies in its characters, particularly Veyka and Arran, whose relationship evolves amidst the chaos of their world. Veyka's transformation from a self-centred protagonist to a formidable protector of her realm is both captivating and empowering, while Arran's unwavering devotion adds depth to their bond. The supporting cast adds flavour to the story, with each character contributing to the intricate web of alliances and conflicts. The plot is fast-paced and engaging, offering a blend of action, romance, and mystery that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.
Overall, Throne of Air and Darkness delivers a thrilling continuation of the series, with compelling characters, a gripping plot, and plenty of twists and turns to keep readers hooked. Emberly Ash masterfully blends fantasy and romance, crafting a story that is both enchanting and immersive. Fans of dark fantasy with strong character development and intricate world-building will find much to love in this captivating tale.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, despite some flaws. in this one, unfortunately, the negatives were too many to overlook - my breaking point was a s$x scene where the MMC is in his wolf form. things got weird. I'm sure there are many out there who will enjoy this and no shame to you, but it is not for me.

Great sequel. Picked up right after the first book . 3 stars
Thank you for the chance to read this.

I think Iโm not the target for some of the explicit scenes, but a solid sequel to the first book! If you liked the first book I recommend at least trying it!

Thank you to NetGalley, Emberly Ash, and Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for an ARC copy of "Throne of Air and Darkness".
"Throne of Air and Darkness" by Emberly Ash is the second installation of the Secrets of the Faerie Crown series, and I feel that this installment did not hit the mark like the first installment did. I had such high hopes for this sequel and was disappointed I
am sad to say.
Veyka and Arran's and their band leave the castle looking for answers after she falls through the void(s). It's a lot of banging in the woods, fighting and a series of unfortunate events. The main theme seemed to be "my brother kept so much from me". She doesn't want to work with her powers and this quest felt like they were "lost in the weeds" for 70% of the book. I felt like the direction was lost and a lot of filler was used. There was a Throne of Glass feel with the little folk towards the end that I enjoyed. The plot twist came just in time to make the reader feel like they need to read the third installment because they have invested so much time in this series already, in my opinion.
I am crossing my fingers for a major turn around in book three. The first book was 5 stars for me.

Throne of Air and Darkness was so good! I canโt get enough of Veyka and Arran, but I was so glad to see some more of the side characters in this book. I read the first book back in the fall and it took me a second to find my place again, so beware of that if you space out the reading of these books too much. Veykaโs growth in this book is probably one of the best character arcs Iโve read before. Thereโs so much past trauma in her life and she works so very hard to overcome it. Though there seemed to be more spicy moments in this second book, I thought the author dialed down the steam level a bit from the first book. Not necessarily a bad thing, I just generally enjoy a bit more. Iโm very eager to read the next book in the series!
I received a copy of Throne of Air and Darkness for free from NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love Veyka. I love her heart and her moxy. The more she grows the more I identify with her journey. Love is hard whether it's family or romantic, and the world just doesn't always do what we expect. I can't wait to read the next installment of her story!
