I really enjoyed this, the drama started from the start it hooks you from the first chapter, I read this in one sitting.

A perfect slow burn energies to lovers. The plot is great and world building is amazing!!

I like the characters, dragons, griffins ect.
We are only just getting to the exciting bit but obviously that’s where it ends and we have the wait until book 2.
I’m pretty sure with Kane we have a new shadow man in town.

1 star for the story and I added a star because the narrator was great! She had a soft and pleasant voice I really liked.

The cover of this book is gorgeous! I love it so much!

Why did I honestly rate the story so low? Because there’s a long list of things that don’t make sense. And unfortunately the characters are flat and the main character is so dumb, I rolled my eyes so many times. And there were so many sexist men! This book just wasn’t for me. I think maybe if you don’t mind all that and just wanna read about a naive girl falling for a dark stranger, this book could work for you.

A great slow-burn enemies to lovers romantasy. This wasn’t a fresh take on well loved troupes but it was a lot of fun to listen to. This is the best captive romance I have read for sure. The world-building is good, I love the use of sacred stones for places and the scenes in the forest are all amazing! I didn’t want to stop listening at times, I hope the next book brings more forests, wolves and chimeras! The FMC is sheltered but independent. She has fears to overcome and a long way to go on her journey. I felt the dialogue was very young at points and wanted more growth from the FMC in this respect. I think she was more mature I would have preferred this. The narrator did a good job of bringing the character to life. The MMC is a new fave shadow daddy and I have nothing negative to say about him. There are also some interesting side characters that I hope get more air time going forward. What most annoyed me about this book is it didn’t feel YA or NA. Although saying this, the ending was epic and I’m utterly invested at this point so does that even matter? This was one of the basic fae romantasy that has literally million of varietions rn and I wanted to dnf so many times. The story was basic, creatures? typical, characters? bland, mystery? what mystery?

I'd probably enjoy it, if I was 14 reading my first romantasy, but since I've read dozens of books just like that, it was too bland for me. Nothing stick out.

You have another village healer with mysterious powers, who later gonna slay everyone, I guess, who's dumb af and can't lie and so is naive and opinionaned abt things she has zero knowledge, like girl, you're from absolute nowherehole and you're lecturing literal king about ruling? Just because you were lady of some geese and one cow didn't give you necessary qualifications to even open your mouth. And she's so jealous and he's so beautiful and so handsome, but he invaded her innocent country, but he also has great abs and even injured and in cell he's the most handsome men she's ever seen and he's so tall and- YES I UNDERSTOOD THE FIRST TIME HE'S HANDSOME STFU PLS

And the king pls🙄 he's obv an awful monster, who kills innocent and feeds on flesh of many women he beds. But wait he's actually the good guy, that's so surprising 🙄 and he fell in love the first time he saw her crying in a cell🙄 and later when her childhood crush shows up he's so jealous omg, and he's so dumb and very in love and they're probably mates or something, cus he also has some sus magical powers, I can't

And nothing really happened in this book, she's just going in and out of the apothecary, talking with 5 people max the entire book and almost getting assaulted every five sec
