This book had some TOUGH, really tough, subjects. But it made it feel real, which I enjoyed. As someone who has had their parents deal with addictions it really hit home for me. And the struggles that came with it were realistic.

With that, I thought everything tied in really well. Didn't feel forced or over the top, honestly.

Overall it was a good read. Had some spice, had some really real moments and made you smile with the ending.

Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for a copy of this book. When I first started reading I was a bit bored and almost didn’t want to finish it. However, I’m glad I did because this book has a good underlying storyline. This book is also much more than a rockstar romance and it’s full of mystery, steamy, loving moments. Will be checking out other books by this author.

Broken Rock
Broken Chords Book 1
by K.A. Finn

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre: General Fiction (adult), Romance

I love rock star romance but.....sadly this book was just an OK read for me. I didn't dislike it, but I wasn't glued to the page either.
I found it hard to believe if Tate was that famous that a) he didn't need bodyguards and b) Chloe didn't recognise him.
I didn't really connect with either character, and the plots felt a little directionless at times to me. As always though, this is just how I see it, and others will, and do, love it. You may too. As readers we all enjoy different things for stories and thankfully that gives as a wide range to choose from. It would be dull if all books were the same.
Stars: Two and a half, I did enjoy parts of the story.

The novel delves into the collision of worlds between a troubled rock star and a grounded teacher, offering a blend of romance and self-discovery. Tate and Chloe's unexpected bond unfolds amid their individual struggles, highlighting the magnetism of opposites. While the plot may at times follow a predictable path and lacks a sense of exhilaration, it effectively balances the evolution of their relationship with narrative progression and passionate moments. Despite its familiarity, the characters' growth and a few anticipated surprises maintain reader engagement. This book prioritizes plot over passion, though the latter is certainly present.

In summary, it presents a satisfactory mix of heartfelt moments and steamy encounters. Through its exploration of personal challenges and the dynamic between contrasting characters, I would give it a solid rating of 3.5 out of 5. It's a worthwhile choice for those seeking a blend of romance and character development.

I always enjoy a good rockstar romance and this was no exception. Tate and Chloe have their struggles and I found it worthwhile watching them grow and find their way.

Amazing storyline. Not just a romance but a romance with an actual plot line. Loved it being set in Ireland. Amazing.

Firstly, thank you NetGalley, Cooper publishing and K.A. Finn for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Broken Rock is a romance between Tate Archer, a famous singer with a lot of emotional baggage and a drug addiction, and Chloe, a sort of dorky, artsy-type, free spirit who is apparently one of the only women in the world who has never heard of Tate Archer. There's also a bit of a mystery sub plot so the vibe is sort of "A Star Is Born" meets "I Know What You Did Last Summer" (sorry for the older references...I'm old).

I really like the idea of this, and there were some elements I liked, but overall, it did not work for me.

The main issue, I think, is the lack of development of the characters and their relationship. Both characters seemed to act very...inconsistently. Tate is set up to be a violent-and-troubled-rock-star-who-secretly-has-a-heart-of-gold type of character - which is cool - but then the execution makes it feel like his personality is just very disjointed. He would act selflessly with Chloe, and put the blame only on himself whenever she would get upset. But then with everyone else he was not able to admit his fault and would attack anyone who got in his way.

I guess you could argue that everyone acts differently around someone they like, but with Tate it was like he was 2 different people. Chloe also felt like she had a split personality. She completely freaked out at the fact that Tate didn't tell her he was famous before they fooled around (which, I mean, doesn't seem like a big deal at least to me), but yet she very easily accepts his addictions and violence towards his friends.

Beyond that, it was just very cliche. And due to the lack of character development and numerous cliches, I was not invested in the relationship between Tate and Chloe at all. It didn't seem like there was even a reason for the two to be together, other than, Chloe didn't recognize Tate as rock star, so therefore he fell in love with her. And Tate is really hot and rides a horse, so therefore Chloe is in love with him.

The mystery sub plot was underdeveloped and added nothing to the story.

Finally, the smut was...okay. As with everything else, it seemed incongruous with the rest of the story instead of flowing naturally from the characters, but as far as the actual writing of the smut, it was decent. I think this miiiiight have almost worked if it was an erotic novella, but at over 500 pages, it's simply not worth it.

DNF because I really couldn’t connect to the characters and the plot just didn’t catch my attention. The premise sounded really promising but I think I just didn’t enjoy the writing, especially the dialogue, which felt a bit clunky and unnatural to me. I can see why some would enjoy this book though, it’s definitely an easy read and not too long.

I wanted to enjoy this read. I love a good rock star romance and the added bonus of tortured mysterious past and overcoming addiction was very tempting. But the writing was not a style that I resonate with and it made this a difficult read for me

This book dives into the clash between a troubled rock star and a down-to-earth teacher, serving up a mix of romance and self-discovery. Tate and Chloe's unexpected connection unfolds amidst their personal struggles, showcasing how opposites can attract. Although the plot sometimes feels a bit predictable and lacks a real thrill, it balances their relationship's growth with both story development and spicy moments. Sure, it might follow a familiar path, but the characters' evolution and a couple of anticipated surprises keep you hooked. This is definitely a book that is more plot than spice but the spice is there!

Overall, it's a decent blend of heartfelt scenes and steamy encounters. With its take on personal challenges and the chemistry between polar opposite characters, I'd rate it a solid 3.5 out of 5. It's a good read for anyone after a mix of romance and character growth.

This was my first K.A. Finn read and I thought it was a sweet little romance. Not too much spice, and definitely had a nice plot without an overload of smut. A troubled rock star MMC, and a sweet, loving, supportive FMC, who is his total opposite. A little predictable of a plot, and definitely could see what was coming. It started off a little slower, but picked up pace and spice as it went on! Definitely a story of finding yourself, and rising above it, with a happy ending.

I’m not sure what it was, but I was hooked right away. Tate goes through some serious shit, an accidental overdose and rumours but pulls himself through it.

I like the relationship he has with Gregg and I think that’s a really important part of the book. They’re both take no shit kind of guys, and you can tell Gregg really cares.

I really liked that Chloe didn’t know who he was so he was able to know that she wasn’t talking to him because of who he is. I really like that aspect and I imagine if you’re a celebrity that’s something incredibly refreshing.

I did get a little bit annoyed at Chloe for shutting him out so quickly but I’m glad she came around and realised she was being too harsh.

The spice happened around 40% in and when it did, oh boy was it good. Tate is pierced, ladies. Pierced. Not only that but he has quite the dirty mouth. I love me a pierced man with a filthy mouth.

“I’m going to make you so fucking desperate to come, you’ll be begging me to stop teasing you and fuck you harder. Begging me to let you come”

I mean, come on? How can you not like it.

Poor Tate goes through some shit and has to figure out ways to work through it, but he has Chloe and Gregg by his side the whole time.

Tate’s dirty mouth only gets dirtier as the story goes on. Chloe has some moments where she takes charge which is hot AF.

Overall there’s more plot than there is smut which is what I prefer. At the end they have a happy ending.

I loved the story from the beginning until the end. It captured my attention with the suspense of what was going to happen next. I loved the deep relationship that developed between Tate and Chloe. It’s a great story that is definitely worth reading.

Troubled rock star meets sweet teacher. I love a good romance, and this book definitely has romance with a bit of spice. In a usual boy meets girl scenario, Tate is the tattooed rock star and Chloe is the soon to be primary school teacher so total opposites. I enjoyed how throughout the book Chloe was so confident in some aspects of their relationship, which was a contradiction to the first impressions we're given of her. Let's not forget the underlying tension throughout the story from outside intrusion, I enjoyed the twist but must admit I definitely saw it coming. I would recommend this book, it's an easy read with a story line that maybe could of been a bit more exciting at times but still enjoyable. I'll be adding the next book in the series to my tbr to see what happens with gregg.

Rockstar romance is not usually at the top of my list, but I was drawn to the cover of this one. I was not disappointed! There is so much more to this story. It is gritty and a little dark, mysterious, steamy, and hopeful. A lot of different things packed beautifully into one book. I'm definitely a fan of K.A. Finn after reading this!

What a deep, heartbreaking, beautiful book. I'm a new fan of K.A. Finn for sure. This book was so much more than a rockstar book. It's about struggles with life when people try to hurt you. It's about love and sticking around. It's about the fight to get it right. I liked it.

Tate and Chloe's story is interesting, and steamy, filled with drama, and mystery. Tate, an Irish rock star, is an interesting character, enigmatic, broken, and intriguing. Chloe is lovely, sweet, and supportive. They are opposites attract, and they share an instant and passionate attraction. The first part of the story is slow paced, and sweet, but still intriguing. The second part is darker, more entertaining, and captivating, filled with mystery, secrets revealed, and unpredictable twists and turns. This is a great story, well written, with a well-built plot. Can't wait for the next
