I enjoyed this one a lot! I wasn’t sure what to expect with a love triangle storyline, something that always makes me a bit cautious, but the way that Isley writes everything it all came out perfectly in the end! If you’re reading the blurb and also concerned, don’t panic - she does it exactly right.

We have three besties from college, Lori, Aiden and Jace, who also went through med school together and opened a medical practice together - they’re as close as three besties can be. However… Lori has always had a crush on Aiden, and Jace has always had a crush on Lori. One night at school, Lori told Jace about her crush and he told her that Aiden wasn’t into her. He made a pact with Aiden that neither of them could make a move on her… thus she has lived with her unrequited crush all these years.

When Aiden’s wedding invitation arrives, she runs to Jace for comfort, never believing it would happen. Spending the night, Aiden finds them together the next day, and thus the fake dating plan hatches - and the complicated love triangle friendship cycle begins … or, continues!

It sounds like a mess and it totally is - and with it being a Camilla Isley book, you know it’s going to be absolutely fantastic. I loved it, with so much banter, great drama and the crazy romcom mess of the love triangle that was not a dramatic mess (I know I mentioned drama but it was hilarious drama, not angsty). Definitely a recommendation from me! Finding out how it all plays out is so perfect!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books, and this is my honest feedback.

Oh the joys of secret crushes, especially when the person is your best bud. The dynamic duo of Jace and Aiden have been friends since grade school. Their freshman year in college, Aiden and Jace meet Lori, in a meeting that will leave you in stitches. Suddenly the dynamic duo is a trio. They are immediately drawn together as best friends times three. The only issue with this friendship is that Lori has a crush on Aiden, but she knows she cannot act on her feelings. Fast forward to the future and the three are still best buds. Their friendship is so deep that they actually own a medical practice together.

Lori still crushes on Aiden, but he is getting married. She is devastated. This is when she comes up with the grand plan to fake date Jace so that Aiden will be jealous. This plan has disaster written all over it. As Jace and Lori pretend to date, feelings start bubbling to the surface, and as the title states - It's Complicated. I am not sure that complicated is even a good enough word to describe this situation.

I adored this book. I did not read the blurb before I started reading this book. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized the plot line of this story. My first thought was My Best Friend's Wedding, as I am sure others that read this will see.

I love this long time dynamic of friends. This is true friendship. They have been best friends since college and are now in business together. The comedy in this romcom was top notch. I snickered and laughed out loud at so many scenes in this book. Lori's personality is enough to make you laugh. She wants to save everything. She has four rescue cats with Star Wars names, several hens, and she also rescues books that are bound for the grinder. I have visions of an episode of Hoarders. Jace, on the other hand, is almost obsessive compulsive. Everything has its place. He would go into full panic mode at Lori's house. These characters were just so much fun to read about. I could write a book about my thoughts on this book. I enjoyed it that much. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

It's Complicated is a book about being in love with a friend and fake dating, and so good. Lori is in love with her long time friend, and fake dates while figuring her life out. I enjoyed the characters and their personality differences. Also the way it ends is lovely, Camilla Isley did a great job with this one!

Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of It's Complicated by Camilla Isley

This was a cute, fun and funny RomCom that was definitely headed towards 5 adorable bright stars. There is so much to love about this book... I'm looking at you, Jace! If you like reading about love triangles, fake dating, and friends-to-lovers, this closed door romance is sure to hit the spot. Unfortunately however, the ending veered into rather cheesy and unrealistic territory for me. But overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. A big thank you to Camilla Isley, Boldwood Books, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was the most cosy, warm, fuzzy love story I've read in a long time, Lori and Jace have finally found each other in the most wonderful way and I hope they continue their love story forever

A fun rom com read wrought with angst that takes a hard look at love vs infatuation. She thinks she is in love with Aiden and has since they met in college, Jace is in love with her and has been since college and Aiden is in love with his fiancée. Witty banter, wild hijinks to avoid looking like she is in love with the friend about to be married and ample miscommunication to lead to ample conflicts make this a fun read that is a sweet rom com read! If you love a friends to lovers, close proximity, fake dating rom com then this book is right up your alley!

Loved, loved, loved It's Complicated from Ms. Isley. I took a chance and branched out with this read. The author is new to me. That being said, I am looking forward to other reads. This was a LOL, endearing read about lifetime friendships and true love. :)

Lori has been in love with her best friend Aiden since college. When she discovers that Aiden is getting married, she turns to Jace, who she also shares a medical practice with (together with Aiden). Jace has long been aware of her feelings for Aiden, and when they are caught together, he agrees to go along with Lori plans to fake date. However, Lori does not realise that Jace has loved her since college. As they go through with the plan of fake dating, it suddenly feels quite real.
This was a sweet clean romance where feelings are laid out bare between the three friends. I liked each character, and was relieved that plenty of time was given to Jace and Lori’s relationship rather than staying in the ‘fake’ role. I sped through this story, not being able to tear myself away, hoping for the happy ever after.

It's not complicated to find time to read this cute, funny rom-com by Camilla Isley

I try to read a few books at the same time of different genres so I don't get bored of one type. Well, I started reading It's complicated this evening, and it has been devoured around my other evening activities.
If you like a good faux-relationship rom-com, pick this one up.

It’s Complicated is a revised edition of Camilla Isley’s Falling for Your Best Friend. This romantic comedy is a smash-up of friends-to-lovers, fake-dating, and love triangle tropes.

33-year-old Dr. Lori Archibald has been in love with her best friend and partner in her medical practice since they were freshmen in college. Now Aiden is getting married to his girlfriend of three years and Lori is panicking. She confides in Jace, her other best friend and medical partner, and he agrees to be her fake-boyfriend for Aiden’s wedding.

Lori has always felt like an unattractive nerd, and she has struggled with female friendships. She is less concerned with her appearance and more concerned with saving stray animals and rescuing unwanted books. She is a vegetarian who has four cats and six chickens at her Chicago loft apartment.

Aiden is a blond all-American dreamboat who is marrying Kirsten, a society lady. He knows that Lori and Jace aren’t crazy about Kirsten but he’s hoping that they will grow to like her. In college Aiden and Jace made a pact to never have a romantic relationship with Lori, to preserve their friendships.

Jace is a tall, dark, and brooding ladies’ man who has secretly been in love with Lori for as long as she has been crushing on Aiden. Jace is Lori’s opposite in many ways, as he is a neat-freak type-A personality. Once Jace reveals his true feelings to Lori, she must decide which man is for her.

I really enjoyed It’s Complicated because the characters are realistic and very likeable. Lori thinks of herself as a “hot mess”, but she really isn’t. It takes Jace’s declaration of love for her to realize her value outside of her medical practice. The dynamic between the three friends is unusual in that there is no “bad guy” in this story. There are so many funny scenes, but no profanity or graphic sex.

This is SUCH a fun fake dating + friends to lovers romantic read! Lori, Jace and Aiden have been best friends since freshman year of college. Three best friends with two secret crushes: Lori has always loved Aiden,,,,but Jace has always loved Lori. Do we wonder who she should end up with? No way. Jace had my heart from the get go!

Lori slightly annoyed me with her flip flopping between the boys (especially after pining for Aiden for 15 years, then immediately realizing her feelings for Jace), but Jace was for sure the best man of the bunch. He made me laugh out loud and swoon all at once (umm, the flying chicken?! You had to be there for it haha). Overall, a fast, fun, lighthearted, loveable read. Another winner from Camila Isley!

The book name might be 'It's Complicated' but my love for it sure isn't.

Camilla has a way of making me fall in love and also fall out of my bed laughing with her characters and I LOVE that! I flew through this book and when I finished it I was just wishing it to go on forever so I didn't need to say goodbye.

This book was heart wrenching beautiful and Jace and Lori's love is so sweet I could cry (I did cry in fact). While I'm most definitely NOT the one to read, let alone enjoy, the love triangle trope, this will forever be the one exception to that. 3 best friends. 2 secret crushes. A pact. A fake dating trope to the mix. And of course, we can't forget about Lori's 4 cats and 6 chickens.

I honestly can't explain how much I loved this book. You have to read it to understand it. Trust me.

The dual POV is everything to me because seeing the way Jace was pining after Lori made MY heart beat faster. He was so far gone I had to hold my breath while rooting for them because I could not wait to see them together. About Lori, well, she's a dummy for "ignoring" that man for so long. I sort of understand it tho. She had a crush while younger and held on to it blindly - I think we've all been through it at some point in our lives (it just didn't last for that long).

From the get go I knew Lori and Jace were made for each other tho. She may not have realized it, but I did. Since they met that he was her safe space. He was her person. He was the one she turned to for everything. Seeing her finally realize her feelings was beautiful. And seeing them together was even better. 🥹🫶🏻

If you need a cute little silly beautiful rom com - this is the one for you. But be warned - you're going to fall helplessly in love with Jace.

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Boldwood works for this ARC in exchange for my honest review. 🩷

This was such a fun read! I've loved all of Camilla Isley's books that I've read and this was another great one. It was funny and charming with great dialogue and characters. I didn't want this story to end!

Thanks Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in advance.

I recommend this book if you like reading about:
- Fake dating
- Love triangle
- Friends to lovers
-He falls first
- Close door romance

Camilla Isley never disappoints! This has been one of my favorite books and I have enjoyed it very much, I have even laughed a lot and I liked the references to Taylor Swift and other things about our current culture. I loved that the protagonists are in their 30s, that they are doctors, and I loved how, through a fake dating, Lori and Jace end up falling in love. I thought that wouldn't happen because Lori secretly loved Aiden, but as the story progresses, they fall in love. And I won't tell you more about how because otherwise I'll spoil the book. I recommend this reading if you want to read something light, laugh and have a good time.

This was a quick and wonderful read! I loved the characters and thought they could have been developed even a bit more! I felt there was a it more we could have learned about them, especially during “That” week but overall I highly enjoyed the book and writing style!

This is a wonderful book that I couldn’t stop reading. Two guys and a girl have been friends since college and some have secret feelings for each other. Enter the faking dating troupe and you have a delightful book. It is told in multiple POV and hearing the story from both sides was very interesting. A great feel good book that will leave you believing in love.

Within the first few chapters, I was sure of two things -

1) That Camilla Isley had come up with yet another fabulous premise and that I was going to thoroughly enjoy this book - which I did.
2) That the title was incredibly apt - to say the situation between Lori, Aiden and Jace is complicated may be an understatement.

There is fake dating, there is fifteen year long unrequited love for two of the characters, and there is a stag do and a wedding to get through.

It's just so so good, I loved Lori (and her unconventional hobbies), and Jace (wow, I was falling for him), and Aiden the other friend and key to it all, I liked but although he is a focus, we don't get to know him as much, since this really is the story of Lori and Jace.

I just loved everything about this, and the sexual chemistry is so hot, it jumps off the page.

I had a lot of fun devouring this book, and found it really quick to read. I always love this author and this for me is another hit from her. Just so so entertaining.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

It’s Complicated is a hilarious rom com and features the friends to lovers and fake dating trope and i thoroughly enjoyed it!

I have read a few of Camilla’s books and they are always super easy to read and always leave me with a big smile on my face.

This book was a light hearted, gorgeous, sweet, heartwarming romance and i thoroughly enjoyed it. It also helped that it was told in dual point of view, and this is one of my favourites.

I loved becoming immersed in Lori and Jace’s relationship and their chemistry was just………….off the charts and i was all here for it!!
