Hayley & Taylor are back! The amateur sleuths who get messages from the dead.
Olivia is a British exchange student who is brutally murdered on Halloween.
Brianna & her BF are prime suspects for a reason … I HATED THEM! LOL they were horrible people. There are red herrings. Twisty! Fast paced and nonstop anxiety!
Another fantastic book from Gregg Olsen.
Thank you NetGalley & Bookouture Audio! I hope there’s more from the twins! 4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this! A YA mystery that really kept my interest. This is one of those that it’s better to read book 1 before you read book 2. I don’t want to give too much away in the review but a good read & I highly recommend!
Dying to Be Her is the Sequel to Beneath Her Skin and centers around a foreign exchange student's brutal murder at a Halloween party in Port Gamble, Washington. The party host's responses to detectives' questions were evasive, with her primary concern being when she could change her clothes. As the story unfolds, the suspects are revealed and one is found murdered. After a hop, skip and a jump in the plot, the killer tries again in what seems to have been a crime of passion. Meanwhile, the Ryan twins are in the hospital, seeking answers about their "abilities" that their mother refuses to explain. The narrative often seemed disjointed, leaving me questioning whether I had missed something as the plot abruptly shifted. This book was disappointing, as it failed to expand on the special bond between the Ryan twins as anticipated.
There’s something about Gregg Olsen stories that I find addictive and this one was no exception. It was twisty, fast-paced and impossible to put down. This is the second book in a series, and the first one is also fantastic.
Thank you Bookouture and NetGalley for this complimentary audiobook.
𝗗𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗿 by Gregg Olsen released January 29, 2021.
I really enjoyed this story! I started it not realizing there had been a first book with the same characters. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything major though.
I enjoyed how we get the perspective of all the characters, but really liked the additional storyline attached to the twins.
I was guessing throughout the whole book what happened and I’m really hoping there is another story with the twins in the works.
Dying to Be Her is another fabulous suspense filled novel. What I thought was a few minutes to start listening to the audio version, turned out listening for hours until I had it done in one day. Fabulous. Five stars.
Dying to Be Her, written by Gregg Olsen, is the second book in the series of Port Gamble Chronicles books. This book follows many of the same characters from the first book, with some new added neighbors. This book does focus more on twin sisters Hayley and Taylor, and how they learn more about some of the gifts that they have been given.
I recommend this book to young adult readers, or any fans of true crime books. I also recommend the audiobook version of this book, I enjoyed the narrator. Thank you to NetGalley and to the Published and Author of this book for an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
I don’t feel like I enjoyed this second book as much as I enjoyed the first one. I listened to this book in January in one day. It was good, the story kept going from the first book but it was a totally different storyline. I enjoyed the narrator. Thank you for the opportunity.
This is the continuation of the Ryan twins. And the feeling I had towards the first book hasn’t changed. The excitement of flipping to the next page continues. Gregg has the gift of leaving us hooked and wanting more. From what I researched, the Port Gamble Chronicles series only has these two books. And I would so much like the author to write one more. Ideas still remain in the air, who is the mysterious man chasing the twins? I hope the author continues this series. It's too good to just be with these two.
I think this is a good audio book for a young adult or teenager. I have read this author before and I didn’t realize this was YA when I downloaded it.
Thank you to netgalley for the ARC.
After reading the first book in this series, it was interesting reading the second to see what was happening now with the psychic twins. This book seemed to move a little faster than the first (perhaps just because I was already familiar with many of the characters). There were plenty of twists and unlikeable people who could have been responsible for the crimes and the final revelation was a surprise.
As in the first book, the narration was excellent.
5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
✨ Easy read but to much of emotion on this book. An exchange student who have a full of dream then coming back in a body bag . Who could have done it or there is more something secret above all?
✨ Full of emotions, not much on the thriller side but makes you think what will happen next .

Dying to Be Her
By Gregg Olsen
Back in Port Gamble, not too long after the death of Katelyn, another girl dies at the hands of a murderer.
Olivia was an English foreign exchange student who begged her parents to let her go to America to study. Little did they know that they would be bringing their little girl back home in a body bag. Olivia was found in Brianna Connor’s bedroom with multiple stab wounds after Brianna’s Halloween party. Who could have hated the foreign exchange student that much when she had only been there for a short time?
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advanced copy of this title in turn for my honest review. I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook and think the series would be a great addition to anyone’s audiobook collection.
This is not my first book by Gregg Olsen so was looking forward to this audio book and to be honest I did get a bit confused with the characters and had to re listen to some chapters again to grasp the story line I have seen another review that advises reading book 1 first so maybe I should have done that
That said it did have some good twists
Dying to Be Her (Port Gamble Chronicles #2) was a great read by Gregg Olsen. In Port Gamble, Washington the body of English exchange student Olivia Grant was found at the home of a local schoolgirl, Brianna Connors. The town thought that maybe it was a Halloween prank gone wrong. Brianna and her boyfriend Drew are spotted casually shopping the next day which leads people to start talking. Twins Hayley and Taylor start to receive messages from beyond the grave suggesting something darker happened to Olivia. The prime suspect disappears and the twins know that time is running out. I enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to read more by the author.
Thoroughly enjoyed the second instalment in this series. It was nice to come up to date with the girls (although I have to admit to some confusion as some reviews on here seem to be years old, yet they reference Katy Perry, and a few other more up to date things, including Timothee Chalomet who is surely a fetus?!
None the less. I really enjoyed catching up with haytay as they strengthen their powers and dig deep into the past to help solve more crimes. They discover a dark secrets from their own mother’s past which explains a lot!
I had just finished the first in the series when I read this. This clouded my judgement a little as to whether it could be enjoyed as a standalone YA, I’m u sure but I enjoyed it all the same.
The narration was excellent.
Thank you to Netgallley and Bookouture Audio for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook in return for an honest review.
Dying To Be Her is the 2nd book in the Port Gamble series and another great book by Gregg Olsen. I like Taylor and Hayley, I like they're powers. Listening to these book brought up such great memories, I loved my time in Bremerton. These girls are twin Nancy Drews, so smart, figuring things out. It's just a shame that there are only two books in this series. I really hope they show up in other books by Gregg Olsen.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of Dying to Be Her by Gregg Olsen
This is the 2nd audio book in a series about teenage twins Hailey and Taylor, from Poet Gamble who have supernatural powers and are able to help solve murders. I enjoyed this more than the first book. I have to say the narrator is amazing. I felt the story needed a little more depth for me, I realize this is a YA series so maybe that's part of it
The story is good, I liked the plot but found myself shaking my head at some of the events that seemed a little far fetched
I give it a 2.5 rounded to 3
This was a great follow-up to Greg Olson's 1st book in this series. We now have just a tiny bit more info on their abilities and their accident but I still want more! This was a bit of wild ride - an accident that looked like a murder and a murder classified as an accident!

This is a Young Adult Mystery, and this is the second book in the Empty Coffin series. I have read the first book in this series before picking up this book, and I feel you do need to read the first book in this series before picking up this book. I found it hard to make myself want to pick up this book at times. There were parts of this book that I really enjoyed, but there were parts that drove me totally crazy. Some of the characters acted younger than they were which drove me crazy. Overall, this was just not the book for me and it was just a ok read. I did listen to the audiobook for this book, and I think the narrator did a good job. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
