Given how much growth Aisling went through in the fourth book, I was a little disappointed with how much of a step back I felt Aisling had taken in life.

The whole book does show just how green to the world Aisling is and can be.

The topic of miscarriage is dealt with with a lot of care, but i didn't enjoy the treatment given to two characters who were on different sides of the fence when it came to having children. Children is a fundamental incompatability, one most relationships don't outlive, and I hated how that storyline ended just so everyone would have their happy end.

Overall, this wasn't the goodbye to Aisling I had hoped it would be.

So I have literally just learned that this is book 5 in the Aisling series!! I am shocked, but also understand why some things did not make sense to me whilst listening to this audio book.

Well I will have to back track and now read book 1.

I literally loved this fabulous audio book, the characters, the scenes... just the whole thing really. This makes so much more sense to me now I know its the end of the series.

Aisling is living in New York when her ex-first love knocks at her door and she is thrust into back in a relationship with John. There is lots of different elements to this novel and I really enjoyed the whole thing

I really enjoyed this novel and will be reading the others in the series. The way the authors write really resonated with me.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publishers and authors for a ARC of this fabulous book

What an absolute gem of an audiobook. The fifth and final story in the Aisling series is an emotional rollercoaster. I feel like we have grown alongside Aisling since the first book and experienced all the highs and lows her. What a thrill when this book starts with her working a fabulous job in New York, dating a sexy fireman and her shock at finding her lifelong love and ex-boyfriend John on her doorstep. This book sees all the friendship group begin settle - with breakups, marriage proposals, pregnancy, and setting up home. I laughed, I shed a little tear, and ended up with a big smile to finish. A satisfying ending to a wonderful series. Superbly narrated for Bolinda audio by Amy McAllister #aislingeverafter #emermclysaght #sarahbreen #netgalley #bolindaaudio

Aisling Ever After is the fifth and final book in the wonderful Aisling series. Co-written by Irish authors Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen, honestly, I just don’t want the series to end! These Aisling books have been such a joy, she feels like such a real, rounded person and I’ve loved getting to know her over the past five years.

Aisling came to life through a Facebook group where people shared character traits (in a positive, endearing way) often found in Irish women they knew called Aisling. The character then made her debut in Oh My God, What a Complete Aisling in 2018.

Before writing my Aisling Ever After review, I read over my previous four reviews and it was such a lovely nostalgia trip. Not only did it remind of the plot highlights of this series but it made me remember why I love Aisling as a character so much.

When we last saw Aisling she was living in New York, dating fireman, Jeff and smashing it out of the park in her job at a celebrity events planning agency. All is great until her ex-boyfriend, John suddenly turns up on her doorstep and throws her world upside down.

Add in the fact that her mother’s new relationship means she has two potential new step-sisters to deal with and a Jurassic Park stripper (it’s these hilarious moments that truly make these books so special for me) and Aisling’s final chapter is the perfect blend of funny and emotional.

We also, of course, get the updates on Aisling’s best friends. Majella and Pablo are still at their comic best while there’s trouble in paradise for Sadbhb and Don, their effortlessly cool counterparts.

This book really is the perfect ending to the series – Aisling’s character development is so realistic and she is just so relatable because we all have a little Aisling in us.

Aisling is so brilliantly Irish, so real, so wonderful, I’ve enjoyed this series so much and would be 100% here for some kind of Christmas special. It feels very bittersweet to be saying goodbye to her, I would happily read another instalment of Aisling’s life every few years.

Also, what a perfect final line, absolutely had the tears streaming. If you haven’t read / listened the Aisling books yet and are in the mood for comforting, heart-felt, wholesome, funny, emotional reads featuring a brilliant set of characters, pick them up immediately. The audiobook does ramp up the enjoyment even more as narrator Amy McAllister perfectly captures the spirit of Aisling, and all the other characters!

Slán leat, Aisling, it’s been a blast.

The delightful Aisling is back. I've read all the books in the series. This time I had an audio book, courtesy of Bolinda Audio. I enjoyed the narration by Amy McAllister. She brought Aisling and the other characters to life.

There were plenty of amusing moments and laughs, along with a few sad and bittersweet moments. Aisling has been described as an Irish Bridget Jones, but she is less introspective and obsessive.

We start the book with Aisling working in New York. She has a dream job in events, an apartment and a fireman boyfriend. Then Chris, her former sweetheart, turns up.

I love all the current social media references with influencers. Irish life in general sometimes has me flummoxed. I Googled " West Coast Cooler" a few Aislings ago!

The book is at its best when we're back in Ballygobbard. Mammy has a new paramour, and is thinking of selling the farmhouse; there are baby showers, and Carol is still baking for Ireland in the cafe Aisling started.

Great read!!

I have read a few of the other books so I knew the characters but I don't think I was up to date, that being said, I wasn't lost and I could follow and appreciate the story.

This book starts by John (Yes, John!), coming to NYC and proposing to Aisling, which she refuses, however wanting to be with him, Aisling and John decide to make it work.

This book was hard to read/listen at time due to some sensitive topics being mentioned, however the authors did an amazing job at writing these topics with empathy and respect!

Overall, this book is funny, romantic and talks about real life issues and I would recommend it. The audiobook is beautiful, the narrator did an amazing job at portraying Aisling.

Thank you to Bolindaaudio, netgalley and the authors for a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Fantastic romance! Funny and realistic. The fact that is was the first one of the series I read did not matter at all, there was enough explanation of their past so you did not struggle to follow the story or feel at a loss. The characters were all well developed and made you want to root for them all. The fact that a book pregnancy did not end with a happy ending not only made sense to the story but it was refreshing as miscarriage is often an underrepresented topic and the grief was written in a very respectful but real way and it just humanised the characters even further. Over all it was a great read with plenty of funny and entertaining moments and I particularly enjoyed the audiobook. Hearing the Irish accent made it even better as it felt like one of your mates telling you her story

This book was an absolute delight! I have always identified so much with Aisling and thoroughly enjoy reading her story. It's interesting to watch a character grow and see how the 2 authors expanded her relationships with friends, family and romantic interests. I have given the first books to several friends as I love this series so much!!

This was the last book in a series of five and oh what a wonderful series it has been. Charming, witty, heart-breaking and yet heart-warming with a very fitting ending.
The plot had its weaknesses but its strength was the brilliant characters who drew you in and felt like they became friends! Whilst I'm sad the series has ended the fifth book was probably the right time to end in order to ensure the series didn't lose its strength.
The audiobook was brilliantly narrated and added to the great entertainment.
I am grateful to NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced listener copy of this audiobook and am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

I love the Aisling series so I was delighted to finally get to see how things turned out for Aisling. It was bittersweet ending the journey we've had with Ais and BGB but it was a lot of fun along the way.

This book wasn't my favourite in the series but it was a nice way to wrap things up.

I was blown away by how excellent Aisling Ever After is. I figured I had a rough idea of where the plot was going to go after the fourth novel’s cliffhanger ending, but I was pleasantly surprised as Aisling’s story took a series of twists and turns. This final installment is probably the most plotty of the Aisling novels, but never loses sight of what really makes them shine: the sparkling characters and fantastic sense of humour. So many words have been devoted to the humour of these novels so I won’t labour the point, but my god, they’re funny. I rarely laugh out loud at books, but I did at this one – both out of humour and recognition. New and familiar characters are given plenty of time here – or steal the show with small references that absolutely killed me (Mad Tom’s crop top; Elaine and Ruby’s cat; the way I YELLED).

Aisling Ever After also does a brilliant job of looking at tougher topics, too – I won’t list them, as they are spoilery, but as always, Emer and Sarah approach them with empathy and sensitivity. This book made me emotional more than once. The ability of the authors to blend humour and pathos is truly Marian Keyes-esque at this stage – which is about the highest compliment I can give. The audiobook, read by Amy McAllister, dials up the culchie-ness but it isn't irritating; this was actually the first Aisling book I listened to her, and McAllister's narration is absolutely perfect for the character.

Aisling feels like a best friend at this stage, and I feel genuine loss knowing we won’t hear any more of her story – for now, anyway. But Emer & Sarah gave her an absolutely incredible send off with this one – it’s a gorgeous, character driven story that will stay in my heart for a long time.

When I tell you I air punched when I was approved to listen to this I’m not lying. Also though I’ve been under a rock because if it hasn’t appeared on NetGalley I wouldn’t have known it was out.

I’ve read the first four Aisling’s so I don’t think it’s possible for me to tell you if it worked as a standalone, there are little throwback references mind you but they served to remind me that I’d read them. Anyway you’re denying yourself pleasure if you miss the first four.

Soooo we are back in NYC and John (YES JOHN) has knocked on Aislings door. Declaring love and offering marriage. But Aisling says no, yep, she says no. She wants to be with John though so she soon follows him back to BGB and a new job heading up the Dubs branch of Aubrey’s events planning business. It’s all happening down home, Majella and Pablo are at it like rabbits trying for a baby. Mammy and Doctor Trevor are getting serious and bringing two evil stepsisters into the mix, Don and Sadhbh are on the rocks, and the trusty micra has been kept good so she’s back on the road.

I dragged this out. I loved it. You know that feeling of being back with old friends and you just slot right in where you left off? I hooted with laughter, I cried more than once. There’s baby loss. Baby birth and a baby shower to rival any hen party. A beautiful send off for Aisling. The authors notes were beautiful.
Aisling I’ll miss you bird.

All the stars 🌟 #Jorecommends

This is the fifth and final entry in Emer McLysaght and Sarah Breen's chaotic and humorous Aisling series, so there is a lot of pulling all the various threads together to ensure happy endings in the face of issues, obstacles and challenges. I listened to this on audio, 9 hours and 23 minutes long, narrated by the marvellous Amy McAllister, a star, who made listening to this an absolute joy, managing to elevate a narrative that has its occasional weaknesses, she deserves the full 5 stars and then some. The story picks up from the last book with Aisling's ex, arriving from Dubai, on her doorstep, declaring his love for her. This forces her to choose, and she ditches her NYC fireman, Jed, a decision cemented by a passionate 3 days at the Plaza, but she is not so keen to accept John's marriage proposal, she is not the same woman, she wants to wait and see.

This has her remaining behind whilst John returns to Ireland and Ballygobbard, Aisling loves her job as Mandy Blumenthal's event architect, loving the frenetic pace whilst pulling all the stops to ensure successful event outcomes. However, she is missing John fierce, but there are shocks and sensitive issues that arise that are to test Aisling and John, which if they can survive, lay the groundwork for their future together. Before we get there though, there is a lot of drama and mayhem to get through, this includes Majella's pregnancy, the planning for her Magic Mike baby shower arranged through What's Apps, the ups and downs of Sahdbh, adamant she never wants children, and Don's relationship, and Aisling establishing herself in Dublin as the head of event planning, Europe, with her hiring of Hannah.

Then there is Aisling's mammy, who is moving on after the death of her father, and is now with Doctor Trevor, and the flies in the ointment that are his daughters, Cara and Siomha. There has always been a charm about Aisling as a character, but I think this is probably a good place to bring it all to a close here, with Aisling experiencing her hard won happy ever with a much changed and more communicative John. Overall this has been a fun, enjoyable, light and entertaining series with some great characters, and whilst there are flaws in the final outing, I think most fans will like this too. I can definitely highly recommend the brilliant audio! Many thanks to Bolinda Audio for an ALC.
