Hey all! This one wasn’t very thrillers until like the last 20%? 25%? If you’re up for a very very slow burn go with this one but I personally felt it was way too slow for me for the thrills to start. Still when they did start they kicked off well and the character dynamics are good. Thanks for the ARC and Cheers

A bit of a slow start hut soon picks up and towards the end you get some really good twists. The characters were all pretty unlikeable in their own ways and it does make you winder about you own nearest and dearest should you ever win such a prize lol. Really well written though and easy to get completely lost in

After a slow start The Wife's Mistake started to get better, full of twists that kept me wanting to keep reading.

"The Wife's Mistake" started with a good premise; a woman in an unhappy marriage wins the lottery. However, the read was a very slow burn, with characters who were difficult to engage or connect with. This was not a great read for me, but fans of Lorna Dounavea may enjoy. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

The Wife's Mistake by Lorna Dounaeva Slow and perplexing beginning, that transitioned into a gloomy story. The story is full resentment, anger, and jealousy between generally unlikable characters.
Thank you to the author, Bookouture. and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

This book was so intense and full of secrets!
I loved how this book captured my attention in the first chapter, the author went right in and she did not slow down til the last sentence. I loved the characters and really enjoyed how it was written! A lottery win and family secrets makes for a great read!

Natalie purchases a lottery ticket, and to her surprise, the sentimental numbers she chose are the winning numbers.
However, she only tells her sister, Liz, as she suspects her husband, Hayden of having an affair.
Liz is also one of the only people that knows Natalie's dark secret from her past.
All these secrets, and lies and the money can only add up to heartache.
Firstly, I must say, family members aren't always there for you. At times there is bitterness and jealousy.
This book depicts just that. Resentment that has built up over many years.
I found the book dragged slightly at the beginning, but the last third was an eye opener. I didn't like many of the characters, and Heaven's knows, if I have the good fortune to win the lottery, I will definitely NOT tell even my closest family!
The book was absorbing and dark and twisty.
Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this book.

Decent book. Wasn’t really into it much. Kind of a slow burn for me. But i still finished it. Not everyone will like every book they read.

The Wife's Mistake
by Lorna Dounaeva
I’ve binge read Lorna’s book at the end of last year, so I was excited for this one to pop up on NetGalley.
The beginning was confusing to be honest. It took me a while to get into the story. I was not sure where this was going to.
We follow Natalie, who is unhappy with her job as a barista, winning the lottery. Just when she wants to tell her husband, she sees a text from another woman. Is he cheating on her?!
When they finally cash in their win, strange things are starting to happen. Will Natalie’s past catch up with her?
Natalie struggles with cashing in her winnings and confronting Hayden. I started to get really frustrated, at 25 % this was not going anywhere. I found myself bored and disliking the characters. I fear that it did not get better for me. I had to force myself to go on. Everyone was just so bland and predictable.
Towards the end it got better , but all of the time I felt like I was reading two different stories. I am afraid this was a miss for me, unfortunately.
