I read this is one day. Heidi's story is a very intriguing read with heartbreaking trauma yet beautiful HOPE and peace found in Jesus.
Thank you to the publisher and Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. However, the draft digital Kindle copy that was sent to me stopped at Chapter 7. Therefore, my review ONLY covers the first 7 chapters of the book. MY REVIEW: Heidi Barr has written an interesting memoir in which she shares vivid memories of her heavenly communion with God immediately following a devastating accident that nearly ended her life at the age of sixteen. As a believer in Christ, she shares her childhood experiences of parental neglect and a range of abuses (sexual, verbal, and mental).
I found the book really interesting, definitely not what I expected though. It was good to have the background on Heidi’s life but I expected more about her NDE.
It is a very sad story indeed, but ending with a hopeful heart in the end. This is true story from Heidy about how she experiencing death and tell us story about what she saw in heaven, to told to us.
I really, really love the story of a person encounter Jesus and gaining a new life in Christ. Especially in Heidy story, it become so touching, especially by knowing the background of her heritage, as a Jewish woman. I really hope that I can meet her personally to listen her story from her own.
This is the story of a abused child from a strict Jewish household where her Father continually insulted and disbelieved in Jesus. She was a strong child living through impossible circumstances. She found joy in her horse riding free of her family and constrictions. At 16 she had a intense NDE after a near fatal horseback riding accident. Her accounting of her visit with Jesus is very vivid and realistic. The details recalled here are stunning and compelling to read. She is brought back to life to a long recovery after a encounter with the trinity that changed her forever.
She recovered and became a believer and more compassionate person. She was a skilled hospice nurse later in life compassionatly helping others through their end of life. Her descriptions match many with NDE's of a compassionate forgiving Jesus and a experience that changed her life and who she was forever.
Thank you to the publisher, the author and Net Galley for the opportunity. My review opinions are my own.
