Hidden in the Night is the third novel in the excellent Missing in Alaska series. Like the others, this one works as a standalone too.
Do I really need to say ‘missing Jack London manuscript’, ‘rekindled romance,’ or ‘multiple attempts on their lives’ before you go buy a copy? This book is a doozy. Seriously now. Former FBI Agent Ivy Elliot is in Alaska on the hunt for a lost Jack London manuscript. Almost as soon as she steps off the plane, events take a turn. Before long there’s a body count and she’s barely staying a half step ahead of the killers.
Alaskan State Trooper Nolan Long is about ready to board a plane to Florida and track down the woman who captured his heart and still has it. But before he leaves he’s called to a crime scene and finds Ivy Elliot there. What on earth? As the two team up to track down a missing girl, they face sabotage, blizzards and unknown assailants, all while battling their mutual attraction, because how does a relationship survive the distance between their home states?
As ever with an Elizabeth Goddard novel, you feel like you’re taking every chilly step with the characters. I love how vividly the surroundings and strange quirks of surviving the Alaskan landscape are described. They’re a real highlight for me, along with the page turning suspense and gentle romance.
I received a copy of Hidden in the Night from the publisher via NetGalley. The admiration of the author is all my own.
A fast paced, action packed adventure set in breathtaking Glacier Bay, Alaska! This thrilling conclusion to a great series will leave your heart both pounding and swooning from the intense danger, mystery, and romance. Danger around even corner, extreme weather conditions, and constantly evolving threats from unknown enemies will keep you turning the pages way past your bedtime and leaving the story never far from your thoughts.
Ex-FBI agent Ivy Elliott goes to Alaska in search of a decades old manuscript for her mother. Once arriving in Alaska, Ivy finds herself thrust into the middle of danger surrounding the missing manuscript and a young woman. She finds herself face to face with Alaska State Trooper, Nolan Long, who rescued her and her mother last summer from a blizzard and she has not been able to forget him. As Ivy and Nolan work to together to solve the mystery, each must confront their pasts and futures.
I absolutely loved this series and this book! Thrilling and thoroughly entertaining this is a must read!
I was given a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are completely my own.
Author Elizabeth Goddard’s romantic suspense, “Hidden In The Night”, is set in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska and is a tension-filled story focused on loss.
Goddard capitalizes on the fact that Alaska is commonly referred to as ‘the land of the lost’ and centers her story around a missing and unpublished Jack London manuscript. She’s crafted a female main character who’s given up her FBI career (and feels the loss) to care for a sick parent and who is also plagued by the loss of a younger sibling. Goddard’s male main character feels lost in his career as a State Trooper, also experiences guilt at the loss of a victim relying on him, and feels the loss of ‘the love of his life’ walking out of his life without realizing what she meant to him. Supporting the main story and characters, is a lost and vulnerable girl (and relative believed in possession of the manuscript) who was previously trafficked, a lost research scientist, and a lost man in a remote cabin in the Alaskan wilderness.
This race against time to locate a missing manuscript and find locals lost in the Alaskan wilderness during winter kept me glued to the pages.

✔️themes of fearing the unknown, loss of control, survivor’s guilt
✔️a lesson on ASARD - Alaska Search and Rescue Dogs
✔️an opportunity to go aboard the RV Nautilus and 115ft steel research vessel
✔️an chance to learn about NOORI - National Ocean Observation Research Initiative
✔️an opportunity to go aboard an Alaska Marine Highway Ferry
✔️a chance to learn about gap winds, blizzards and Alaskan weather
Providence has thrown Sunshine Girl Ivy Elliott and Alaska State Trooper Nolan Long together again. Will the circumstances give them a chance to connect or pull them apart for good?
I was sad to finish this last book in the series. Alaska holds a special place in my heart.
I was gifted this copy by Revell and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
It's a complicated, twisted story full of suspense and thrilling moments. Nice characters and amazing nature. Probably the author intended to make me curious for Alaska, but it confirmed once more that I'm not made for the North.
Ivy Elliot, former FBI, is on a mission to acquire a first edition book. Lucky for her it takes her to Alaska, where she'd once connected well with State Trooper, Nolan Long, and she'd been on his mind too. Their reunion was awkward, each had their own cases to solve, but they kept crossing each others' paths. Eventually they establish a working relationship, but the uncertainty of what they both want wafts back and forth, and their futures are both far from decided.
This is a nice addition to the series, the characters all make an appearance to help in the cases. You'll want to read this one if you've enjoyed the previous books.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC and for the opportunity to post an honest review.
Loving this Missing in Alaska series! Author Elizabeth Goddard is a master at suspense! I could not stop turning pages. Light romance (slightly awkward at times, but sweet at other times), the faith thread, disappearances, a lost manuscript, and murder all added to the intrigue. I so enjoyed visiting this beautiful setting and seeing several of the characters from the previous stories.
Thank you to the publisher and net galley for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.
Another great book by Elizabeth Goddard. Lots of twists and turns and it was hard to put down. I loved Nolan and Ivy and Alaska. Great mystery with a little romance.
This is a really great read!
The author does a good job of describing many details about living in Alaska. While a place can be beautiful, it can also be very deadly.
I’m this story, it isn’t only the elements that are dangerous, but also some two legged creatures.
Follow Nolan and Ivy as they race against time, weather, and criminals to get to the truth of several interwoven issues. There are plenty of twists and turns!
I received a complimentary copy of this book. My opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this book. There was much suspense, light romance, light faith thread. The characters were great. Who was trying to sabotage their search for missing woman and manuscript! Seems two different forces were after them! Exciting adventure in Alaskan winter around Glacier Bay! I read as a stand-alone. I could tell there was information from prior book that was given in summary fashion, but it did not decrease the enjoyment as I read this suspenseful novel! I could not put it down!
Elizabeth Goddard hits another home run with her newest novel, Hidden in the Night. I thought the story was exciting and read it in two nights! This is the third book in the Missing in Alaska series but it does fine as a stand alone novel.
In Hidden in the Night, Ivy Elliott travels to Alaska in search of a fabled unpublished Jack London manuscript. She already has submitted a purchase offer sight unseen, but when she arrives, the manuscript has disappeared along with a young woman! The manuscript takes a backseat as Ivy promises to help find the missing girl. Ivy sees finding the lost girl as a way to release the mountain of guilt she feels after losing her own sister. Nolan Long felt that him and Ivy experienced a romantic connection on their previous encounter but thinks maybe it was one-sided. Imagine his surprise when Ivy shows up in Alaska! Nolan knows he has a second chance at something special. When Ivy's search and Nolan's case overlap, the two join forces to solve two mysteries at once.
I really enjoyed Hidden in the Night and recommend others to read it! It is a fast-paced sweet romance with light Christianity and plenty of action!
ivy has come to Alaska looking for a manuscript that has been missing for a long time. then the lady that had it said that her granddaughter took it and has disappeared. then she meets Nolan again has she is kneeling over a body. this is another page turning story in the series. they do not know who to trust or what to do next. there are storms and blizzards that make them have to stop looking and take shelter, but could the killer be also taking shelter there also? could not stop reading this story, when you think you have it figured out then something else comes up . if you like suspense and romance you will want to read the book i was given a copy of the book by net galley but this is an honest review
After having read many books by Elizabeth Goddard, I’ve found sitting on the edge of my seat, turning the pages quickly as I can is the best way to read her books. From the first paragraph or two, I’m totally hooked. If you enjoy clean, romantic suspense, Elizabeth Goddard’s books are for you.
Ivy Elliott, at the request of her mother, suffering with cancer, arrives in Alaska, during winter, to retrieve and bring back home to Florida, an old manuscript written by Jack London. Other than the desire to please her mother she feels this is a fool’s errand
Ivy finds Lina, the woman she is going to buy the manuscript from, however, Lina doesn’t have it. With a big storm on the way, Lina sent her granddaughter, Danna to her uncle’s house and didn’t realize she took the manuscript with her.
Ivy finds her way to the uncle’s house and after knocking on the door it partially opens, and upon calling out with no response she cautiously enters to find a man in a pool of blood on the floor. The last words the man says is “find her.” Danna and the manuscript are now missing, and her uncle is dead.
Ivy is a former federal agent with the FBI and agrees to Lina’s request to find Danna. Her new mission is to find the missing girl.
Nolan Long, an Alaska State Tropper hears “Sunshine Girl” is in town. After meeting Ivy Elliott in Florida the previous year, he dubbed her “Sunshine Girl” mainly because of her sunny disposition. For the short time he’d known her while in Florida, he felt there was something special about her and between them. He is excited to see her again.
This is a wild ride as Nolan and Ivy join up to find missing Danna, as well as the manuscript. The situations that befall them are inconceivable and chilling. The cast of characters range from relatable and trustworthy to corrupt and reprehensible. There are many twists and turns, some romance as well as surprises.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All comments and opinions are my own.
A wonderfully complex storyline that gripped me and held my attention. A good reminder of learning trust family and friends as they point us toward God's love and protection.
Elizabeth Goddard did it again ! This book is so good I could not put it down. There are so many twist and turns it kept me guessing all the way thru. I could not put it down. I loved Noah and Ivy . love their story . I highly recommend this book. It is a must read!
Another great story. You will not be disappointed in this book, nor wanting to put it down it has drama, mystery and intrigue. A good flowing plot and a good 3 book series. I recommend. Given arc by Net Galley and Revell for my voluntary review
3.5 stars
Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard is the third book in a series, which each book could be read individually. As a romantic suspense novel, readers will expect romance and suspense to progress as the story progresses. It does. The plot moves along nicely with the hunt for a manuscript and what surrounds it and a missing girl. Plenty of thrills and chills for the best suspense lover. As for the romance, it was predictable and happened a little too fast for me. I noticed in most novels where the romance starts in the beginning of the book or in a previous book, it is still too soon for me. Just a personal preference. I would like to see the relationship develop more before they end up in a marriage proposal at the end of the novel. One of my favorite aspects of the novel was the setting. I hope, someday, to be able to visit Alaska, so I love seeing in my imagination and reading about characters as they maneuver through the wilderness of Alaska’s back country. There are some moments of spiritual reflection, but nothing that is really forced down the readers’ throat. Overall, Hidden in the Night has the suspense element down, but the romance needs to be paired back a little bit.
I received a complimentary copy of Hidden in the Night by Elizabeth Goddard from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
What should be a simple task turns out to be anything but that. A lost manuscript, a missing person, a murdered man, peril, and suspense are what awaits in Hidden in the Night.
I enjoyed the chemistry between Noah and Ivy, who not only returns to Alaska for a lost manuscript but also to reconnect with Noah whom she had met months earlier.
Noah experienced guilt for what he considers as failures as an Alaskan Stare Trooper, Ivy experienced guilt when her younger sister disappeared when Ivy was a teen and when an undercover FBI operation she was working on went south.
If you are looking for a new suspense read set in Alaska, check out Hidden in the Night. I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a suspenseful story - Ivy goes to southeast Alaska to locate a lost Jack London manuscript and she finds herself chased by murderers and rogue Alaska state troopers!
Ivy sees her friend, Logan, an Alaskan state trooper and he is involved in investigating a missing fellow officer in a remote area and he agrees to help Ivy find her manuscript and the person who has the manuscript.
You will be intrigued by the hunt and the desperation of the hunters!
Ivy returns to Alaska for the seemingly simple enough task to bring home a lost manuscript. And maybe to get a chance to reconnect with Nolan, who she’d met months earlier and felt a connection with. Instead, they find themselves searching for a missing young woman. Little did she know the questions and peril she and Nolan would encounter as they searched for answers. This mystery is complex and detailed, involving secrets, curses, blackmail, and threats to national security. Filled with suspense, it is a real page-turner, with a bit of romance, and I loved it!
The premise? A missing book and a missing person - who is responsible and why? Romance and mystery awaits our main characters as they traverse across Alaska trying to beat the clock and battle mysterious persons unknown. Worth a read? Yes!
The third in a series (Missing in Alaska) can be read as either a stand alone or as part of a series. While the stories are separate, the benefit of reading the series is that you know the backstory for the main side characters.
I receive complimentary books for various sources including, Netgalley, Authors, and other such sources. I am not required to write a positive review and have not received compensation.
