A good written book
A great plot
Plenty of twists and turns
Will keep you guessing till the end
Thanks NetGalley
This book hooked me pretty fast. The mystery and growing suspense kept me interested till the very end.
The whole fortune teller thing is unusual for a thriller, so I couldn’t stop thinking if it’s for real or MC just going crazy.
Was Simone’s friend right and the marriage was too fast? Is her husband reliable or again, is she just out of her mind?
In the end, the twist was shocking. I mean there were hints, but what the hell?!
The book could be a little shorter, but still, it was a solid 4 stars for me.

A fun trip to a fair and the fortune teller has long-lasting effects for Simone. It is predicted that she will meet someone and have a family and e deliriously happy, but that it will only last five years before misfortune occurs, and should she wish to avoid this, then she should not follow her heart. Of course, happiness prevails , and Simone soon finds herself in wedded bliss. However, the words of the fortune teller haunt her to the point of obsession. Was there truth in the words, or was it a money-making scheme? She cannot help but fear the worst and those fears spill into everyday life. There are a few super twists at the end of this story, and a few great red herrings throughout. #thefortuneteller #natashaboydell #netgalley
I have always wanted to go to a fortune teller, but never got around to it. So imagine going to one, and hearing a future which you have to decide today.... Well written and I will read more in future.

This book started off very slowly but eventually picked up and took off! The story was great and flowed well. The characters were relatable and really well done. Overall a pretty good read and I'm looking forward to more from this author.
Thank you Netgalley, Natasha Boydell and Boldwood Books for the eArc of The Fortune Teller.
Ive read a few of Natasha's books and I really enjoy her writing style and pacing of her books. I Also loved the premise of this narrative. To be told that something will happen from a supposed fortune teller and how that information impacts your life. This is what happens to Simone and her friends when they visited a fair in their teens. Simone is told that she will find something that was lost, have a baby and will be happily married for 5 years until disaster strikes.
Natasha wrote this medium paced thriller with plenty of twists and turns. Keeps you guessing and once you think you have sussed it out, nope! I felt the book as a whole has a good balance between character building and how this new affects Simone and how she bonds/views her relationships with people and the plot itself. The pay off at the end I didn't really see coming until in very end, which was clever.
4.25 stars rounded down to 4 stars for Amazon/Netgalley/BookBeat and Goodreads
A thoroughly enjoyable, this book is fast paced and engaging throughout. I liked all of the characters and thought the premise of the story intriguing. A great read highlighting how humans can become easily obsessed even when it results in self sabotage.
This was a good read. It started off a bit slowly as Boydell establishes the characters, but I soon found that I was whipping through the novel because I was desperate to see how it would conclude.
When Simone and her friends visit a fortune teller on a summer afternoon, she thinks this is just a gimmick, a fun attraction. However, Simone is haunted by the predictions and when they gradually start to come true, she feels like she has a countdown on her head, racing towards the point where she was told there would be a tragedy. None of her friends can understand why Simone is hung up on something that was supposed to be a bit of fun, even when all the other predictions are coming true. However, Simone is certain that she is going to experience this tragedy and she feels she has to do anything possible to prevent it.
I enjoyed watching Simone’s character transform over the novel. Indeed, by the final quarter, she is a shadow of her former self because she is so obsessed with the fortune teller, Mystic Maggie. It is ironic that Simone displays characteristics that Jude is also accused of; even Simone grimly recognises this but is so trapped in her ways that she cannot see through this. Readers are taken on a journey of love and happiness that spirals into self destruction. I grew as obsessed as Simone because I was keen to see how she would escape this negative way of living, as well as whether this tragedy would ever take place.
However, I do think there were a couple of plot elements that could have been expanded upon. The sub-plot featuring Simone’s ex-boyfriend felt conveniently laid to rest by the end of the story and I wanted there to be something more with the accusations against Jude. Whilst the latter would have felt quite similar to previous thrillers I have read, I thought that Boydell could have explored this domestic element a bit further.
The novel’s ending was clever and surprising, leaving me with plenty of questions. I was blindsided by it and found myself re-reading earlier parts of the book to find extra clues. I think the author ended the story at the right point: adding a further concluding chapter would have lessened the impact of this surprise and I think I shared similar emotions to Simone.
This is a book about how obsession can turn dangerous. Simone’s downfall is tragic to watch and I really sympathised with her character. However, the self-inflicted isolation that is created adds to the intensity of the story that all began one summer’s afternoon in a fortune teller’s tent…
With thanks to Boldwood books and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The Fortune Teller by Natasha Boydell was a fabulous psychological thriller full of twists and turns I didn't see coming. It was fast paced, and thoroughly enjoyable. Though this was my first book by Natasha Boydell, it won't be my last.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Fortune Teller by Natasha Boydell was a great psychological read. Lots of twists and turns and it hooked me in, I just had to keep reading, eager to find out what would happen at the end. Ending surprised me but kept me on my toes. My first book by Natasha but I’ll certainly be looking for more of her books now.
The captivating cover initially drew the me in, sparking excitement and anticipation for the book. Despite some reservations after reading the blurb, the story turned out to be a well-crafted and engaging read. Simone's visit to a funfair with her friend leads her to a fortune teller, who presents her with a choice between a peaceful life or a passionate romance with a tragic end. The internal struggle between fate and personal choices haunts Simone until she meets Jude. The novel, although not as intense as expected, impresses with its solid storytelling and well-developed characters. Overall, the book delivers a compelling narrative that explores the themes of destiny and free will effectively. This review was made possible by an ARC from NetGalley and Boldwood Books.
3-3.5 stars
Much of this book was pretty fun and dealt with well-established genre characteristics (twisty plot! twisted characters! dramatic reveals!). I mostly enjoyed it as a quick and easy thriller, but I will say that the pacing felt a bit off at times, and the first half/second half of the book felt, at times, a bit disconnected from each other. What I also didn’t love quite as much was the very ending, because really…was that absolutely necessary? Really? Ughhh.
In the fortuneteller by Natasha boydle we meet Simone and her best friends Helen Emily and shiv. When the story begins there at a fun fair and all decide to pay 20 Quid to see a fortuneteller. This is where Simone learns that she will meet Mr. right but should disregard him because if they marry they will have kids but in five years she will meet impending doom. Instead of disregarding Mr. Wright Simone instead disregards the fortuneteller after meeting and falling in love with Jude it isn’t long before she’s pregnant with twins. It seems everything mystic Maggie told her is coming true so obviously a tragedy will befall her and her family. She becomes obsessed with keeping track checking in with her husband multiple times a day not wanting her children to play and do normal children things because she fears the profits prophecy. She soon starts visiting other fun fairs but cannot find mystic Maggie is Simone and her family truly doomed or will Simone unintentionally self fulfill the prophecy? About 80% of this book is Simone fretting over what the fortune teller said finding week clues as to the doom she is expecting and the ending was shocking to me only because nothing in the book would lead you to think that was going to be the ending. I really thought this book started strong and was really good it wasn’t until 60 or 70% in that I was like well wait when are we going to start getting the close to the ending and then when you think you do… No you don’t. I gave it three stars because it is well written and truly intriguing but would’ve been even more intriguing with the storyline that leads to the ending instead we get an ending out of left field. I see most people like this book and as I said I didn’t like it just thought the ending came out of nowhere. I want to thank Boldwood books for my free arc via NetGalley. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
The fortune teller is an engrossing page turner with striking imagery and breakneck twists. The author has a crisp writing style which guides readers through this layered and innovative thriller. It was a treat to read.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
his was such a fun, slow burn thriller that had an ending I did not see coming! I loved the character building in this one. I feel like we got to know them so well, while also maintaining enough mystery it kept me guessing and questioning who to trust. The first half of the book pulled me in fast, but the second half seemed to drag on a bit to me. I had to know what would happen, and I’m glad I stuck it out because that ending is NOT what I expected!
First of all, love the cover, it was what attracted me to the book in the first place. Love how striking it is. I really connected with the characters in this book and thats important for me. The story flowed easily and loved how different it was from other books Ive read.
I was really wanting to enjoy this book. The plot seemed interesting but I just couldn't get into it and it was a DNF for me.
Thank you NetGalley and to the publisher for this arc in exchange for my honest review!
A slow start to this book following Simone's visit to a fortune teller and her decline into paranoia as she waits for the predictions to come true. It wasnt as I expected but a good read
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC
The Fortune Teller is a twisty domestic suspense that explores prophecy, relationships and secrets. It is well-paced. There is a small cast of complex and relatable characters. The story revolves around a fairground fortune-teller's prophecy and how it affects Simone's life. Simone becomes increasingly unreliable as a narrator as her mental health deteriorates. I like the relationship dynamics that are believably written and create a menacing ethos. The suspense-building is good, and the concluding chapters have a couple of excellent twists. I like the believable characters, the tense but relatable relationships and the dilemma that drives the story forward.
