À totally fun entertaining light read. Covering one day set in Bristol with a few flashbacks along the way. Humorous and joyously uplifting when the main character, Clover, does what so many of us would love to do, speak one's mind and act out of character and against convention. Loved her day when she decided to do her own thing. Certainly some of Clover's situations resonated with me to some extent and mirror situations many of us might find ourselves in. I's a book to lift a dull wet day with many chuckle moments. A little me-too creeps in and nicely revenged.

When I started reading this book I really resonated with how Clover felt. She's a TV producer, has a lovely lawyer husband and teenage twins. Clover has always acquiesced and gone along with every one- until today. She has a migraine, bangs her head and takes too many painkillers which result in her finally standing up for herself and not going with the flow. She tells her boss exactly what she thinks, causes mayhem in a posh hotel pool and upsets her gay friend standing up for his rights. However, after finding the first half of the book engaging I then found it less so. It keeps flipping back to show how she got where she is so I started to find it a little tedious. I also think maybe this book is aimed at younger age market than mine! Thank you Netgalley though for the opportunity to read and review this title.

An absolutely joyful read. Clover did what most women only dare to dream of. Uplifting and inspiring. We should all be more Clover.

Lucky Day is the delightful read that follows Clover, who decides to break free from the monotony of her everyday life and being the 'good girl’. She stops saying yes to everything and starts doing what she wants for a change.
This is a heartwarming and uplifting novel, you can’t help but cheer Clover on as she embraces her new found spontaneity, there are some literal laugh out loud moments - I really believe we should all have a break free day once in a while - the book should actually come with the badge that says “Be more like Clover!!!”

An interesting concept for the storyline. I was intrigued as to where it was going and was gripped along the way.

Clover has always been a good girl. Fitted in. Said yes. Taken on more work at no extra pay. But something is different today. Today things are changing. But her friends and colleagues are not sure if they like what is happening.
Beth Morrey writes some great characters and it was a joy to follow Clover for the day. A great book that leaves you cheering Clover on.

Clover has always been a 'good person, she always says yes, she smoothes everything over. Until she doesn't. On this day she's going to say no. She's going to do what she wants for a change.
Isn't that what we all want a bit? To just say what we really think?
This is a fun book, loved the way she steamed through the day. I felt exhausted just reading it.

My Bookish Thoughts 💬
I found myself giggling along with Clover as she navigated her 'f***it day'. Morrey's characters are wonderfully complex; some I adored, others frustrated me, and a few I downright disliked. Through hilarious and sometimes sad moments, we uncover Clover's backstory, revealing why she's chosen to let loose for just one day.

What truly impressed me was Morrey's ability to portray each character with flaws and explore their underlying reasons, even delving into Clover's complicated relationship with her mother.

In places this book was laugh out loud funny (not recommended in the cafe area at soft play!) but in others it was full of pathos. Clover was an intriguing character whom I identified with in so many ways. I loved the idea of her breaking free from the conventions and restrictions of her everyday but wondered just how much would permanently change for her (and whether she wanted change on a huge level). A story about becoming the real you and breaking free in middle age. Why only a three? Sometimes I found it a tad unbelievable and it wasn’t the most gripping read but still one I’d recommend.

Saving Missy was interesting read. This book however lacks the originality of the previous novel and is trying too hard. Clover is having a bad day and her travails are interlaced with flashbacks. The situations she encounters are written to be funny but the humour is too explicit and ends up being too telegraphed and unamusing.

I knew from the tagline of "Can she say f*ck it, for just one day", that I had to read this book! We meet Clover Hendry who wakes up with a bad headache. After taking an out of date painkiller and receiving a bump on the head on the way to work, Clover decides that today is going to be a different kind of day!

This was a great book! Wouldn't we all love to have a day where we say "Sod it" to everything and do and say all the things we'd ever wanted to? Of course, a reaction to a strong painkiller and possible concussion probably helped Clover in some of the decisions she made that day! I loved following Clover throughout her day though, and I imagine so many could relate to her frazzled, tired, working mum lifestyle. The storyline intersperses with flashbacks from her life and it has had me laughing my way through her day! I particularly liked the swimming pool and Clover's new haircut, which I could just picture as I read!

This is definitely the book you need if life's getting on top of you - it will cheer you up no end! It's laugh out loud funny but still has lots of warm-hearted moments which will make you like Clover all the more! Would recommend!

I really had a fun read with this when I started. I was cackling away at Clover. There really are times when you just want to do ANYTHING without a single care. I loved some moments and some I didn't. I did feel like it would sometimes drag out a little for my taste, hence the rating.

Beth Morrey - Lucky day

Oh my word, what a wonderful, wonderful book. It made me smile and laugh out so very many times and at the same time filled my reading hours with such reassuring love. Whether you’re having a good week or bad one, please pick this book up when it’s published, especially if you are a parent as I think you will be able to relate to it even more. I genuinely can’t imagine anyone not liking Beth’s latest book.

At the start we meet Clover, who wakes with a bad headache and reaches for the “the everything bowl” in the kitchen (we have a drawer equivalent of this in our house), where she finds a slightly out of date, strong painkiller. What’s the worst that can happen, right? And so starts Clover’s lucky day!

Clover has always been a good girl, following the rules and behaving how one should. Her mother wasn’t exactly the tender, loving kind so she and her sister have always done the right thing and this behaviour naturally has spilled into their adult life. Well, not today! Today, Clover will do what she damn well fancies and not what her mundane, everyday life requires of her.

I just adored Clover! She is like so many of us: a loving wife, mother of two, trying to manage her family’s everyday life, as well as her own career and she would just so love a little break from it all. Well today is that lucky day when she does exactly what she likes and it feels good, and everyone is just staring at her unbelieving but also rather impressed. Because let’s face it, when do we really do that? Hardly ever? Never? Like Clover says cats can do what they like but humans have to compromise and try and be nice.

It is such a funny and heartwarming read and I loved the ending too, bringing it all to a lovely conclusion about life and families and the love everyday life does bring us even with all the mess and stress.

Clover is a middle aged woman who has always done everything by the book. For one day she's decided to rebel, to walk out of the office and do whatever she wants. I love the idea of this book and have really enjoyed Beth Morrey's previous books but I found this such a struggle. It's not overly long but I had to mark it DNF at 85% because it was just such a chore. Didn't click for me at all.

Fun and thought provoking, an uplifting read about an unexpected day off. I loved Saving Missy and didn’t click so much with this one but it’s still good.

An uplifting story of mothers, daughters and female friendship which leaves you feeling better about life. At times funny, other times quite moving, this was a fun book to read.

This was a very relatable read for many of us who just get in with things and don’t make a fuss. Ostensibly the effect of too much medication and most probably a mild concussion cause Clover to act totally out of character however the root cause actually goes beyond that but we get to experience her having a very weird and wonderful day in the process of discovering that. I love how uninhibited she is today and it’s balanced out well with flashbacks from her childhood and earlier times in her career. Amongst the outrageous and hilarious behaviour there’s a glimpse of the usual people pleaser behaviour which makes for many thought provoking moments too. I think most of us would benefit from a day like this from time to time… although perhaps not quite so extreme!
