1. I love Formula One so this was great
2. This was a great book, and it got me out of a reading slump! Caffery did a great job in setting the scene and making this interesting, so I really got through this easily.
The only thing I will note is that this book was definitely more interesting because I know the sport. For people who are new, I don't know how interested they may be because they may be confused about terms or events and their importance. A bit more context would be useful for future books, and I would love to read another!

Pole Position is "Red, White, and Royal Blue meets Formula 1!" Y'all, I was IN! Basically compare anything to Red, White, and Royal Blue and I'm going to read it. This book is about seasoned professional Kian Walker and his new teammate Harper James, an unpredictable rookie who drives on instinct and thrives on thrills. Starting out as rivals, the two get closer over the season. I'm new to Formula 1 but enjoy a good sports romance and thought it was a cool premise!
I started watching Formula 1: Drive to Survive on Netflix pretty recently, and I'm glad I did because if I didn't, I don't think I would have had any idea what was going on with the racing stuff. There isn't a lot of background given on the rules or Formula 1 in general so I really leaned on what I learned from my 3ish seasons of the show. If you don't know anything about Formula 1, you might find it frustrating.
I had a fun time with this book! I really tried to strap in and enjoy the ride, which I think worked well. Don't think too hard, just vibe. I don't have strong feelings about F1 so I have no idea if it was represented well, but I also don't really care. I like the international aspect of F1 in general and liked learning how the characters felt about the different tracks. I actually would have wanted more of that because this book is more romance than sports, and I'm here for a sports romance! The spice didn't really do it for me, but spice rarely does it for me so take that with a big grain of salt (or spice, if you will).
Despite some issues, I enjoyed my time with this book. Definitely recommend if you like F1 and sports romances. 3.75 stars rounded up to 4 from me. Thank you to HarperCollins UK and NetGalley for the eARC of this book, my thoughts are my own!

I really enjoyed this story!
I found that the story was really well written and it was certainly a book that had me hooked.
It was a good storyline with some well developed characters.
It was romantic and sexy, a totally addictive read that I didn't want to put down, it was fast paced and a sexy read.
It is 4 stars from me for this one - highly recommended!

(4.5) A new take on a F1 romance! I really loved that this was a relationship journey between two drivers, it just really allowed for a fresh take on a romance in the sport. At times it wasn’t the most believable thing, but hey I had a heck of a good time reading it so I can’t complain too much. I really liked that it included really track locations, team names, and even a real life driver. I like when my sports romances have real life elements to them, I think it allows for other parts of the book to be able to be fictionalized more and still feel right? I don’t know, it creates a balance that really works for me. I loved getting to know Kian and Harper. I didn’t love them from the start it took me a bit to warm up, especially to Harper but I just knew they were going to have a great character journey individually and together.
The found family was everything and the emotional aspect really elevated this story for me. At times the writing felt a little clunky and the timeline jumps took a second to piece together but overall I really enjoyed it and would love to have a copy for my shelves!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the early access!

Thank you for the earc of Pole Position, I really enjoyed this novel, so much that I bought the paperback.
I really thought this book was written well and I loved the rom-com aspect of it. I feel rom-coms are really easy to get into, the characters are relatable and they're fun to read and this was no exception. I loved the way the story developed and how the characters interacted with each other. Highly enjoyable.

I thought this was a pretty cute, easy read. I don't know anything about F1, so no idea how accurate it was, but it was fun to read about. I did find the characters quite immature and there was a fair amount of communication issues, which is often not my favourite, but it wasn't bad enough for me to dnf it. A decent read if you're looking for something easy and not too intense.

A cute, queer romance for all fans of motorsport! If you like the Dirty Air Series by Lauren Asher or Cross the Line by Simone Soltani, this book is for you!

I’ll always be there in line for a book about formula one but unfortunately this one just didn’t hit the spot. I found Harper extremely annoying and did not like his chapters but wanted more of Kian. Possibly the wrong time but not for me this time

This book is advertised as a Red, White, and Royal Blue-esque F1 romance; and that's definitely what it felt like for me! Kian and Harper were sooo dang cute together! They both have so much from their own lives that they struggle through and while Harper is a wildin' party boy, Kian is reserved and quiet. But together they are the perfect grumpy x sunshine pairing and I just loved their character growth together and apart (loooove Kian's positive take of mental health treatment).
Final Rating: 4.25⭐, 2.5 🌶️
Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter, for an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Rate: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
This one has the right balance between sports and romance. I loved the tension between them at the beginning and their rivalry turning to lust 🤌🏼
I don’t know any other way to describe the vibes except this is very F1 meets RWRB (as advertise)!!! And Kian reminded me so freaking much of Vettel 🥹 #iykyk
Did Harper annoyed the shit out of me? Yupp! But it’s a very real and flawed character which makes him very relatable. Still I did want to throw his head against a wall more than once (I promise I’m a very pacific person). But the way he gets so so obsessed with Kian damn!!

Unfortunately, there were a lot of things in this book that didn’t work for me. I’ll always be excited for an F1 romance, especially one that supposedly has RW&RB/Hating Game vibes, but this was one I could have gone without. The race aspects were fine, there were inaccuracies but not so many that it bothered me. I found Kian and Harper’s relationship to be lacking in chemistry. And the miscommunication? Why was there so much of it? I didn’t find it necessary when a simple conversation could have resolved things. Their back and forth got repetitive and honestly, I feel like they would have been better off not being together. The plot was all of the place. The pacing was off. I wanted to love this one. I really did. I loved the idea of it. The execution however was lacking. Thank you to One More Chapter for providing an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I think I read this at a bad time personally and it did hinder my enjoyment of it. It deals quite heavily with themes of a parent with dementia and grief, so losing my grandma while in the process of reading meant I spent a lot more time in my own head rather than delving into Kian and Harper’s story. I ended up leaving it midway through for a few weeks before I eventually finished it.
I did think the pacing was a little off at points, possibly due to the F1 schedule the book keeps to, and I think sometimes I did just want more from Harper before he was eventually vulnerable with Kian.
I think this will be well loved by many, their chemistry is good and it’ll be perfect for F1 fans too.

Thank you to NetGalley for providign a copy of Pole Position in exchange for an honest review. I think I enjoyed the author's book "Olympic Enemies" a bit more than "Pole Position". I can't really put my finger on it, maybe because it was the first one I read by the author. I did really enjoy Pole Position and would recommend it to fans of romance books. This story is about a driver at the end of his career and his young, up and coming team mate. Their natures were at odds of course which led to some interesting moments between the two. I also find myself enjoying books where the characters are rounded out and here we learn both of the men's backstories in a satisfying way that explains why each man is the way that they are, especially what motivates (or hinders) them. Overall this author is 2/2 four star novels for me so I am sure to pick up any future creations by this author and recommend her to romance audiences.

I love a romance, and I LOVE F1, so I thought this book was going to be perfect for me. Unfortunately it ended up being a big disappointment. If you aren't obsessed with F1 and just love a queer sports romance, I think you may like it, but if you are indeed big into motorsports I would maybe pass unless you can suspend your disbelief more than I could.
In this novel we get a dual POV of two F1 teammates, 4 time world champion, seasoned veteran Kian Walker, and the gets into a bit too much trouble rookie, Harper James. It's an unexpected driver pairing when Kian's teammate gets injured prior to the start of the season and the team chooses to bring in Harper. And essentially we follow them as they go from circuit to circuit through the F1 schedule. We get some forced proximity thrown in there as well. The plot is pretty straight forward, but the details are what throws me out of the story for more or less most of it.
To preface this, I know quite a bit about F1 and follow a lot of it on social media. One aspect of Harper is he was in foster care and didn't have a bunch of money like most of the drivers, and somehow people don't know this about him. 1, the road to F1 is CRAZY expensive, like hundred of thousands of dollars to millions of dollars a season expensive. There is no way I kid in foster care that didn't have a wealthy family would be able to afford that, no matter the talent, just not possible. The 2nd impossibility is it would not be a secret. The media would eat that story up. And if not the media, all the drivers would know. It is a very small community, with 20 drivers in F1, and they all race together growing up. No way. This creates a lot of the conflict in the book, and I just could not overcome it. It's been a while since I read this so I cannot remember exactly, but there is a scenario in the novel during a race that also just is not how F1 operates, so that really brought things down for me. The last big negative is this one was just too long. The novel is 384 pages, and in my eyes if a romance is over 350 it's got to be amazing, and 350 pushes it a bit for me. This would have been better if it had been a bit tighter in that respect.
I know I was mostly negative, but I did like the writing and I thought the ending was nice. Even though this one was not a hit for me I still will check out what else the author puts out in the future and check her backlist. 2.5 out of 5 stars for me on this one.
Thank you to Netgalley and One More Chapter for the advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

The perfect Grumpy sunshine read for any racing fan!
Pole position is crammed full of racing action while being so heartwarming and showcasing all kinds of love.
I adored this one there were some tough darker moments in the book that really deepened the story.
Overall I loved this book it was exactly the perfect read for a race weekend!

I enjoy f1 romance and they are easy reading. I have brought the physical copy of this book as I liked it so much however it is very similar to others. Would read other books by the author.

Was able to read this through a Netgalley copy and I just loved it. Enjoyed the story, loved the characters and it had a bit of spice. Great read!

The fetishisation of queer man in this book was absolutely disgusting. Please stop me the next time I want to read a MLM book by a woman
2 stars cause the formula 1 parts where kinda fun I guess.

2.5
unfortunately, this was too tiktok-y and trope-y for my liking. they even mentioned tiktok at some point... it felt like one of those books you could sell really well on tik tok by mentioning the f1 aspect, the age gap, etc.
i also didnt like that the teams kept their og names (real life names). i dont mind when f1 books are wrong cause theyre fictional, but why would you do that and not properly research the team and the sport??
otherwise the romance between the two main characters was not bad and they actually had good tension!
