Wow! The series of events in this book keep your mind going on overtime. The different POV's are perfect. ⚠️TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
now I need to check out more Shade Owens books!

A dark and very compelling read highlighting the long-reaching impact of domestic violence. Very intense and suspenseful the narrative unfolds in a way that keeps you turning the pages. Great complex character development creates the ramping sense of tension. A great read.

Hmmmm. This one wasn’t that thrilling for me. I did feel strong anger towards James. But I didn’t find myself connecting with Alice much. While her paranoia and anxiety was absolutely warranted , leaving her abusive ex husband, at times it just felt like a bit much and excessive, thinking everyone in this new town is out to get her. Granted, one was, and I didn’t see that twist coming, it still didn’t feel satisfying for me. I found myself skimming the last few chapters thinking “is this still not done yet?”

Wow...this book was a wild right in the best way possible. I was on the edge of my seat from the very first page until the very last page. The way that the author brought raw attention to domestic abuse (physical, emotional, psychological) while still being respectful about it was beautifully done. This was the first book that I read from this author, but it will most definitely not be my last.

I think this book will have everyone rooting for the MC! It's one of those books that speaks to who we are women and what we'd do to protect our family. Its well written and the writing just carries you through so easily. It's so creepy and you never quite know what's happening until he reveals but the eerie atmosphere is created and curated perfectly. It's also a very human story of survival and parts of it really were heartbreaking. This is so much more than just a thriller and can easily appeal to anyone

This was a perfect quick read. I found the plot gripping and engaging. I did not expect the twist at the end. It does hold a TW for domestic abuse though.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Wow. This one was full of twists and surprises. A mother and her two sons on the run from her abusive ex husband find themselves in an old Victorian house inherited by an uncle Emma/Alice thought died years ago.
Creepy things start happening pretty quickly and continue to happen despite security measures she takes.
Emma/Alice slowly unravels the mystery of what is going on in her house and boy is it quite a surprise.
I liked the main character and I think she could be relatable for people who gone through some of the situations she did. The other characters weren’t as developed.
I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest and I finished it in two nights.

Alice is a shining example of going through a horrific experience and becoming stronger as a result. At times this book was creepy and downright heartbreaking. The characters were well written and it was an intriguing storyline. I highly recommend this book if you are in the market for a strong female lead who protects her family from a monster.

In this hauntingly intense novel, a mother and her sons seek refuge in an inherited Victorian house after a traumatic escape from an abusive husband. The sprawling old home in a small, safe town promises anonymity and distance from her violent ex. But the house quickly reveals its own dark legacy, hinged on the sinister rumors surrounding the mother’s late uncle.
As the family settles in, they find themselves grappling with eerie occurrences that threaten the secrecy vital for their survival. Despite seeking a low profile, the bizarre happenings in the house draw the town's prying eyes, putting them precariously close to the danger they've been trying to escape.
At the core of the story is the fierce resolve of a mother, a woman who will stop at nothing to shield her sons from harm. This tale masterfully weaves suspense with the unwavering courage of maternal love, crafting a gripping narrative that ensures you'll be rooting for this family's safety until the very last page.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a tremendous thriller debut!!! I was so impressed by this book. It had everything I wanted. Suspense, mystery, twists, retribution, and with a satisfying ending. It's a story of survival and a mother's unconditional love. I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and couldn't put the book down by the end. This was my first book by Shade Owens and it won't be my last!!
Thank you to NetGalley, Shade Owens, and Red Raven Publishing / Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for this ARC of Beneath These Walls.

I love the cover of this book just stunning.
I enjoyed this book because it was creepy and twists throughout. I loved the characters and the build of them and the house was terrifying and fantastic at the same time.
I couldn't believe this is a debut novel in this genre. It was great and will read more from the author.
Thanks NetGalley for letting me read and review.

I did enjoy this book, it was creepy, tense and kept you guessing until the end. However, I just didn’t love the writing style towards the end. It just seemed to fall a bit flat leading up to the ‘reveal’ I can’t explain my thoughts too much without giving away some spoilers so I’ll stop there.
Saying that I really loved the characters and were rooting for them and the twist about the house (can’t say too much without giving it away) was horrifying but absolutely fantastic.
I would recommend reading this to support the authors debut intro the thriller genre.
