I found this one a little hard to get into. At time it felt rather rushed, the interconnected stories were good fun and I was intrigued by the premise. But it felt as those they didn’t truly have time to breathe and were rushed through.

I did enjoy this book however and I’ll be interested to see what else the author puts out.

Threads from the Tapestry is a collection of four interconnected novella length stories aimed at tween/YA readers by R. A. Casias. Released 30th Jan 2024, it's 174 pages and is available in paperback and ebook formats.

The stories are interconnected loosely and all are engagingly well written. The author is gifted with setting and world building, and has created an immersive world full of magic and drama called Etherea. All of the stories are part of the same fantasy world setting as the author's God Slayer Chronicles (first volume of the series was released 4th quarter 2023 and is available now).

There is an amazing amount of rich detail in these 4 stories. Each character has engagement and believability and even where not specified, it's clear that each of them exists as a whole, with their own internal motivations and beliefs. The stories are well crafted, evenly plotted and just generally very readable and enjoyable. The actual writing/vocabulary is more simple than highbrow; but it's intended for a younger tween/YA audience.

Four stars. Well written and engaging. This is an indie-pub release, and will likely not be on trad.pub. library lists. It's well worth seeking out and highly recommended for public and secondary school library acquisition, for fantasy readers, and would make a nice buddy read.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I am fairly new to the fantasy genre, but was absolutely enthralled by Threads From The Tapestry!

True to its name, Threads from the Tapestry was contrived of four interwoven tales that span the farthest reaches of the mystical realm of Etherea. From pirates with spice and fervor to weaver apprentices with unprecedented abilities and much to learn, this book will leave you wanting more from R. A. Casias.

I saw another reviewer comment that each story is comparable to a mini-epic and I cannot think of a better way to explain the magnificence of the world building, diverse cast of characters and overall epic vibe of all four tales.

I cannot recommend Threads from the Tapestry enough and look forward to exploring more of R. A. Casias’s work, namely The Shadowlands’ Lure and “The Buried Sorcerer” (note: I did not read either of these prior to reading TFTT and it did not affect my reading experience!)

A huge thank you to NetGalley, Resonance Press and R.A. Casias for the ARC!

A captivating collection of four interconnected tales set in the enchanting realm of Etherea. Each story weaves together elements of magic, destiny, and mystery, creating a tapestry of fantastical narratives that are sure to transport readers to a world beyond imagination. In Valen's Reckoning, readers follow the journey of a Weaver apprentice grappling with his unpredictable abilities, adding an element of suspense and discovery to the overall narrative.

The diversity of characters and their intertwining destinies in The Shadowlands' Lure, The Threads of Fate, and The Buried Sorcerer adds depth to the storytelling. The author skillfully explores themes of temptation, desire, and secrecy, creating a rich and immersive reading experience. Threads from the Tapestry is a testament to the author's storytelling prowess, delivering a masterful blend of magic and mortal affairs that will leave readers eagerly anticipating each turn of the page.

A surface level introduction to the magic system of Etheria.
The writing style felt redundant but was too immersive to put down. It was as if I were truly journeying alongside these characters.
I will be checking out the rest of the God Slayer Chronicles!
