I devoured this book in a single day, which is rare for me. I love how this author drops hints throughout the story, keeping readers engaged in uncovering the truth. As always, there's a major secret driving the plot, revealed only at the very end, and even though I guessed one of the main twists early on, it didn't detract from my enjoyment.

The romance was there, though I wished for more backstory. We get glimpses of their past, but their interactions weren't fully developed. We get told about their connection, rather than being shown. It’s one of the few books I would have loved to have another 50 pages to see their relationship blossom more.

Surprisingly, there was more spice than expected. Not a complaint at all!

The portrayal of relationships and characters is so down-to-earth and realistic. The characters are flawed, the relationships aren't perfect, but there's no excessive drama or miscommunication. Issues are resolved through honest conversations, much like in real life.

The book also touches on heavy topics like grief and a parent's illness. These themes are handled well, but if they might be triggering for you, proceed with caution as they are central to the plot.

Overall, it was a super fun read, and I can't wait for Jax's story. I sense an enemies-to-lovers romance brewing!

A whole new twist on the second-chance romance trope

West and Indya grew up together - sorta, having met at his family's ranch resort as children, with her family returning most every summer for the next fifteen years. Now, the resort is in decline and Indya takes on the job of revitalizing it, rescuing and preserving West's family's heritage, but in a way that absolutely infuriates West. But at least she's not leaving after just a week or two this time.

This author writes compelling characters, realistic family dynamics with no easy answers, and a slow-burn romance that builds like a river flowing toward the sea. I really enjoyed the way these two confronted their shared past and found an uneasy truce in order to work toward a common goal. The way the author depicted her father's part in the story was brilliantly done, not quite giving us the whole story at first because Indya wasn't quite ready to face it herself. When we finally get all the hinted-at details, it all comes together to beautifully wrap up all the angst and clear away every obstacle to their HEA. The years-later epilogue was very sweet and heartwarming.

The chapters alternate between the present, in both Indya's and West's first-person POVs, and the past, delivered only from Indya's POV. Their charming friendship as children gradually grows into more as they mature, only to find that their lives away from each other keep moving forward, regardless of the longings of the summers they share. We get to know these two people on such a deep level that their HEA feels incredibly satisfying for all.

This is my first book by this author, and I hope to be able to read more in this fascinating series. I highly recommend this romance for anyone who loves contemporary western love stories. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is the first in a new series from Devney Perry, and it ticks all the boxes!

Indya is returning to Montana as an adult after being a repeat visitor with her family during summer vacations. Her memories are tied up around her father’s illness and the boy who lived at the ranch. So many beautiful memories, but also tarnished by a few hurtful moments. She is determined to save the ranch, but will have to make some major changes that will be unwelcome by the former owners in order to do so.

West Haven always imagined he would one day take over his family’s ranch and resort. He is loyal to his family and the ranch, though he isn’t as invested in the resort side of the business. He puts as much energy as he can into the resort, but his heart is in the cattle. When he comes face to face with Indya, he isn’t ready for the series of shocks that will come with her arrival.

I loved the way the story is told in the present day and flashback. The format helped build the relationship between West and Indy in the present while setting the stage for the budding romance that built when they were younger. I also loved watching the family dynamic between Indy and her parents, as well as the interesting dynamic that emerged as we get to know the Haven family in the present day scenes.

Indy and West had immediate chemistry, even if it was hidden beneath hurt and the pain of the changes Indya brought with her. Though they were decent at talking through things as kids, I wished they had shared more in the present day -- it certainly would have made things easier for them!

There was so much going on here -- a ranch/resort setting, friends to enemies to lovers, hostile work environment, cowboys and a small town. I loved getting to know this new set of characters and a resort/ranch is a perfect setting for a new series. I cannot wait for more from this family and series -- as Haven River Ranch settles down after the new ownership and continues to grow, I can’t wait to see who else joins the crew and family!

This is a story of childhood friends, first loves, a same-time-next-year summer romance with family drama, heartbreak, and second chances. Indya would often spend her summers at Crazy Mountain Cattle Resort with her parents and she befriended and then fell for the ranch owner’s son. But they were young and there were missed chances and life eventually got in the way. Now in the present Indya is returning with an agenda and it will not be seen favorably by the ranch sons.

Indya is smart, resourceful, strong-willed, business savvy, and has plans for the ranch. West is a broody, stubborn, angry, and ticked-off cowboy. But together, they’re going to have to figure out a way to work together for the greater good. Being in close proximity again brings back all of their chemistry, unresolved feelings, and the connection that they were never able to break before

Their paths crossed and collided almost every summer from the time they were kids through young adulthood until everything changed. But now years later, Indya is back with big news that’s going to shake the foundation of everything. It’s a hot mess of emotions, unresolved feelings, perceived betrayal, surprise, and shock. But now West is going to have to find a way to give up control and let her take the reins, and it’s also going to put temptation right at their doorstep once again. And they will have to face the challenges standing in their way while dealing with secrets and unresolved feelings. But there is hope that they can finally have their chance and maybe figure out a way to make a better future.

Dual POV told in flashbacks and present day helped build their relationship and tension and there is a a thread of family drama and dynamics weaved in as well. The ranch is a character in itself and there are quirky side characters. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Crossroads is book one in the Haven River Ranch series. I am a new Devney Perry reader and am so happy I could start with a new series. I loved this book so much! I devoured it and didn't want it to end.

Indya and her family spent their summers in Montana at a ranch owned by West's family. Indya and West met when she was 8, and he was 10. This story follows Indya and West as their friendship develops and evolves as they move into their teenage years and early 20s. After some time away from the ranch, Indya returns as the new owner. While navigating everything that comes with the ownership change, Indya and West are forced to confront their feelings for each other and explore why their relationship fell apart.

I adored Indya and West and enjoyed witnessing their journey. Their chemistry and banter were amazing! This couple has completely stolen my heart. Even though they fought and attempted to deny their feelings, it's clear they have a deeply rooted connection and never stopped loving each other. The characters are raw, real, believable, relatable, and have so much depth. I was completely invested and rooting for them. The dual points of view and timelines were done really well. This story is emotional, and beyond the romance, it deals with grief and healing. I laughed, swooned, and cried. Crossroads is a great start to this new series, and I can't wait to read what comes next.

NARRATION:
Samantha Brentmoor and Connor Crais could read the phone book, and I would listen. They are two of my favorite narrators, so I knew I had to grab a copy of this audiobook when it became available. This story is amazing, but the audiobook completely enhanced my experience. Samantha and Connor's performances made me feel like I was in Haven River Ranch with the characters. They did a phenomenal job bringing the characters to life. Bravo!

Thanks to Devney Perry, Montlake, and NetGalley for the eARC. Opinions expressed are my own.

If you are looking for dual pov, dual timeline second chance romance this one is perfect! I thought the city girl, country boy dynamic added a fun twist and Indya and Wes had great chemistry!

Indya buys Wes's family ranch and arrives to find out he doesn't know his father has sold it. I really enjoyed watching Indya modernize the ranch and work to win over the staff. I also loved seeing her and Wes' chemistry develop as kids and adults. I liked that they had the shared experience of trying to live up to their parent's expectations.

I am excited to see where this series goes. It sound like Wes' brother may be next and I think it will be a fun story. This one is perfect for Elsie Silver fans!

Crossroads by Devney Perry, the first installment of the Haven River Ranch series, unfolds in a picturesque small town nestled in the mountains of Montana. This resort, once known as Crazy Mountain Cattle Resort under the ownership of Curtis Haven, is a character in itself, adding a touch of nostalgia and charm to the narrative. The story, told in both present and past tense from two perspectives, delves into themes of love and loss, friendship turning into hostility, and the power of second chances.

The Haven family, deeply rooted in this property for generations, has been the custodian of the resort and ranch. Curtis and Lily, the current owners, have a son named West, who is poised to carry on the family legacy as the next guardian.

The Keller Family, comprising Grant, Ellen, and their daughter Indya, embarked on a poignant journey at the Crazy Mountain Cattle Resort, CMC, in Montana. This resort, a sanctuary for Grant during his battle with cancer, holds a special place in their hearts.

West, a character of redemption and growth, taught Indya how to play poker, make paper airplanes, and kiss correctly. She fell in love with him, and he broke her heart at twenty-three. Years later, she bravely breaks her vow and returns to the ranch as the new owner, a testament to the theme of second chances that runs deep in the narrative. I highly recommend reading this story!

You cannot change my mind that this isn’t Devney’s best book yet. I’m blown away. I laughed, I cried, my stomach dropped multiple times, I swooned. It was amazing. Montana ranches & Devney just go hand in hand, and I can’t imagine it any other way.

Second chance can be a difficult trope to write, but this one was amazing. It’s not a traditional second chance, the couple was technically never together officially. But the love was there and it honestly never disappeared. The flashback chapters from Indy’s perspective were 100% the thing that made this second chance phenomenal.

Did someone order a swoon worth cowboy? I did. And he was delivered to us on a silver platter. West was the cowboy that rivals against Griffin - dare I say West is even my favorite my favorite Devney MMC?🫠

I love this book so much. I’ll never be over them.

Favorite quotes
“A century wouldn’t dull this fire. Not with Indya.”
“That was how it had been between us. We belonged to each other. Even when we didn’t.”
“I liked this shirt.” “It will look better on my floor.”

Huge thank you to Devney & her team for the ARC🥹💗

A wonderful start to a small town series set in Montana! Indy is the girl from Texas on vacation at a ranch resort in Montana who meets West, the owners son. They build a friendship over the years until they eventually turn from friends to lovers to enemies. Fast forward four years later when they’re forced back together.

The setting for this one is perfection! Told from multiple POVs with glimpses into the past this one unfolds at a good pace with moments of tension and angst sprinkled throughout. I just adore the way Devney can write a captivating story with the perfect setting and lots of swoon!

This one is perfect for lovers of small town, second chance romances with a cowboy and a couple of twists!

A picturesque Montana mountain setting, a rugged cowboy hero and a heroine who can bring him to his knees. Toss in strong family dynamics and Devney Perry’s name on the cover and what more could you want from a book! What an angsty and emotional start to the Haven River Ranch series with Crossroads as childhood playmates Indya Keller and West Haven are reunited as enemies when West discovers Indy has bought his family’s ranch. This author has a knack of creating characters you can’t help but care for and West and Indy were no exception. My heart hurt for Indy especially when she left voicemails for her father, and I cheered as she reunited with West. Told partly in flashback, their relationship begun so sweet and innocent as they grew from children to adulthood until it imploded but you just knew was going to be all the stronger as they seized their second chance.

Small town romance, cowboy, always been you, second chance, forced proximity, childhood friends

No notes. A TOP TIER Devney book.
Man oh man that was utter perfection.

I knew I would love this book (it's Devney after all) but damn, Devney is stepping up her game bringing us next level small town romance. I am still not over this book and already pre-ordered the audio because I know I'll need a reread asap. Indya visits this resort in Montana with her parents every year or two from the time she is 8 years old, and spends her week there with West whose family own the resort and ranch. As they get older, their friendship develops into more (seeing their firsts had me giddy), but only ever for that week before they go their separate ways. They’re very much right person, wrong time- for years, until one day Indya is back, not to visit but as the new owner of the ranch (which West did not see coming).
Watching these two navigate their feelings, the past, the current situation, watching them circle and love each other but not sure how to handle it, it was all amazing. Their chemistry had me squirming in the best way, man devney stepped up in that department. Please send me one West Haven, thank you. That man is perfect. Devney did an amazing job balancing the past with the future and just showing us how much these two have been pining for each other.
I don't want to share too much and spoil this story but trust and believe this is a book that you do not want to miss out on. Devney is proving yet again why she is a queen and power house in the small town romance space.

Thank you Devney for an ARC of this amazing story.

I couldn’t be happier for this new series! This Montana resort sounded like a dream and I wanted to dive into the pages. West and Indya had a long history and I loved reading about their interactions when they were younger. This small town/second chance/childhood friends to lovers/cowboy romance was wonderful and so emotional. This book had so much heart and I can’t wait to see what else is to come for this series. Four stars

"We'll do it together. All you have to do is stay."

This book starts with the now and throughout we get pieces of the past that help put together the puzzle that is Indya and West. I wanted them together but just knew whatever tore them apart would be a heartbreaker. In true Devney Perry fashion a beautiful space was created that is Haven River Ranch. You'll want to visit here and be with these characters and revolve your world around it all. I loved this story and all its wonderful pieces!

This was a beautifully written second chance story about two people who continue to be just out of reach of the other.

Indya was such a strong character, I loved seeing her vulnerable and those moments she softens. West was the perfect match, giving Indya the safe place to be herself.

I loved the flashbacks and how we are continuing to learn the story as the book goes along. I couldn't put it down wanting to know what happened next!

I can't wait for the next book in the series! I'm hooked!

What can I say except that Devney Perry did it again. Crossroads is truly one of the best and one of my most anticipated reads of the year, and it didn't disappoint! I can't express how much I loved the story and the characters. Indya and West were two people meant for each other. They both shared such a beautiful bond that had me on my knees. Watching them fight their feelings for each other only made me want more and more of them. West was such a grump, and I adored it when he showed his soft side to Indya only. He was a man worth drooling over! Indya was the perfect FMC. She was strong, independent, successful, and had a beautiful mind and heart. I was so proud of her, and I felt the need to hug her so badly throughout the book. Her past had so much pain, and I'm so glad that her future had only happiness and love. She once again found her person in West, and they both showed to each other what real love was. Their moments had so much tension and angst, and I just kept needing more and more of that. Realizing and accepting their feeling for each was so heartwarming, and I'm so glad they both got the happily ever after they deserved!

This is book 1 in the Haven River Ranch series and it’s off to a fantastic start. First of all, this author is a master wordsmith when in comes to plot development and creates such vivid imagery, I felt I was there in the mountains of Montana.

I was totally spellbound by Indya and West’s emotional juicy story. Exciting and suspenseful this story is so much more than a small town wester-ish slow burn second chance romance! Brimming with passion and humor this story was so well developed and so captivating I read it in one sitting.

An idyllic Montana ranch owned by West’s family brings these characters together when they met as children and enjoyed summer family vacations. For years their friendship grew and developed into something else. Then…the visits stopped and 4 years later Indya returns to the ranch…as the new owner. This created a whole new set of circumstances as West is not happy about with this new development.
What happens you’ll have to read and find out.
Trust me you won’t regret it!

truly one of my new favorite devney perry books!!! this had everything you love about devney’s books but there was just something about this one that felt more elevated and refreshing. all of her books make me long for a place i’ve never been to but Crossroads took it the next level.

i loved the flashbacks and dual timeline where we saw our love interests growing up from childhood friends to lovers and i absolutely adored the narration of these parts. just so sweet and perfect.

this book had amazing tension, a little mystery, and laced with sorrow throughout it was just perfect.

what you’ll get it: childhood friends to lovers, cowboy romance, small town, second chance, right person wrong time and forced proximity, grief.

When it comes to Devney Perry, I am truly obsessed with her work. I will read anything and everything she writes, and I know I will enjoy it. That doesn't mean I can't be honest about whether a book is good or not. If you remember nothing else from this review, just remember that this book was truly outstanding. I haven't stopped thinking about this story since I finished it, and I don't think I will anytime soon.

This is the first book in a new companion series, and I don't know how she does it, but Devney always knocks it out of the part on her series openers. She dedicates plenty of time to the main characters while also introducing characters you are sure to see in future books, giving you just enough to return for more.

West and Indya were some seriously amazing characters. I loved their stories so freaking much, both individually and together. The history between them was so good, and how that history was revealed was perfect for this book. I loved that we got to see their relationship from the first moment they met to the present.

I know this will sound ridiculous, but I don't know how else to describe it. The stomach ache I got reading this story, while very intense, was so freaking worth it in the end. I honestly struggled to put this book down, and I know I will be rereading this one over and over again.

I wish I had the words to adequately express how much I loved this book, but I just don't. If you like Devnery Perry, I have no doubt you will enjoy this book. If you've never read anything from her before, this would be a fantastic place to start. And if you have read her books before and they weren't for you, I would still suggest giving this one a shot. It definitely had the feel of all her other work, but there is also something about this story that feels different from anything I've read from her before. And I mean that in the best way.

Indya and West

With "Crossroads" by Devney Perry, I am officially entering my Cowboy Era again!

The setting was just incredibly engaging and even though I'm not really the outdoors and camping type, I would head to Montana in a heartbeat!

The first part of the book was like a black hole. I couldn't help but be drawn into Indya and West's world.

Devney's writing style was also, as always, perfect and her descriptions again brought the setting very close to me.

I enjoyed Indya and West's story, but I'd be lying if I said it was perfect.

As much as I loved them as characters, there was a lot of wasted potential. Unfortunately, the plot itself didn't give much away, because not much really happened.

That's why "Crossroad" gets 3 out of 5 stars from me.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

When a book keeps me up past my bedtime, you know it was impossible to put down. I definitely lost some sleep finishing this one!⁣

This book was so beautifully written! The pieces of this story, told via flashbacks and the present time, were woven together with expert care. It seamlessly moves between the two timelines and tells a story of love, loss, and longing. ⁣

Indya and West might have been opposites, but they fit together like connecting puzzle pieces. I loved watching their story unfold in both the past and present! ⁣

There was so much emotion in this one while also feeling like a warm hug! I’ve loved everything I’ve read by Devney, but this book is next level!

Expect:⁣
💜 Small town⁣
💜 Second Chance⁣
💜 Forced proximity⁣
💜 A charming ranch/inn that feels like its own character and gave me strong Kellerman’s vibe 😍 (I’d book a week here in a heartbeat!) ⁣
💜 Characters whose stories I can’t wait to read!⁣

If this is book one, I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings! ⁣

Thank you to Montlake and the author for an eARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own and voluntarily given.
