Compelling and riveting read dealing with modern and future issues regarding Artificial Intelligence. The first couple of chapters very much set the character of Clayton Rhodes, FBI very special agent, almost to the extent that I was getting fed up with another James Bond super sleuth, save the world 'hero'. Clayton then, whilst on R&R became an innocent victim of a shooting whilst himself trying to take out a manic killer - we are in Texas by the way. During recovery he accepts a proposal to join an experiment with AI/virtual reality and the story definitely improves. The details of the case were highly plausible although technical. I saw one twist coming but then failed with others. I like that. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy.
A really interesting and current premise. AI and what it means being human and AI. This is a thriller complete with drug smuggling, law enforcement, and more. Without giving anything away, how would AI work within a criminal enterprise. I liked the pace of this book, and I thought character development was on point. Keeps you guessing. Anyone that likes fast paced thrillers should certainly enjoy this book. Thanks again to NetGalley and Books Go Social for the opportunity to read and review.
