So you want to send a sentiment to someone you love or someone you're interested in? Instead of a Hallmark card, borrow a poem or a few lines from this book. You'll create a flutter of romance in your beloved.
There were many place where I had to pause to take in the emotion of anticipation or satisfaction. Mikheyev captures the drama and the passion of love in a beautiful and heart-filling way.
Highly recommended. Read it aloud with your lover?
Unfortunately wasn’t able to get around to this until now, but this was very good! I loved the poetry as it was enjoyable and written very well. However, it is hard for any book to get 4 stars from me.
I liked the poems... Since english isn't my first language they were really fluid and easy to understand.
I liked the romance theme in poetry. Book is shorter so it can be read really quickly.
And it has very attractive cover.
One part of the poem:
"Your love is thievery— stealing dreams from out of the night sky."
A Fire in the Sunset by Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev was a beautifully written book and is full of beautifully written poems, that just took my breath away, This book is poems over a
span of a decade. In this book Mikheyev explores themes of romantic love and seduction. His poetry are rich in sensuality and very deep in feeling. His poems are haunted by time, clocks, seasons, as though every moment is sacred, and every romance is once-in-a-lifetime.
Moses then plumbs the depths of the present, tenderly cradling it in his hands, before it disappears forever. Earthy, vibrant, and swooning. WoW!!!!!
A little gem of a fine. Just beautiful.
Big thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial, and the author Moses Yuriyvich for providing me a copy of this wonderful book of poems.
I think my biggest issue was how the poems looked on my phone. The poems themselves were well-written. It was emotional and sweet and tender while also heart wrenching. My brain just hated the layout of the poems.
This is a nice collection of poems mostly about love and seduction written over a decade.
I loved how they are written, some parts might made me feel cringe but most of the poems I really liked which was unexpected because when it comes to poems I'm kind of choosy. It takes me a while to actually start liking the prose and rhythm , but with this collection from the very first page I had started with a feeling that this is going to be good and indeed it was.
Some of my favourite parts from the collection
"Our love has wrinkles as old as the Earth."
"Ever since you left the ocean has lost its shimmer And the sky was rolled up and carted away".
Your rounded cheeks are goblets of rosy wine, and your skin is perfumed with the magic of a hundred vineyards.
It’s a cruel thing. Time is. It takes what it cannot give back.
—for I’d rather cradle your face in my hands between a thousand constellations between red rose and iron thorn than miss you so.
Moonlight washing up against our fragile bodies Stars collapsing from eager expectation.
If only love were a place one could stay.
Your love is thievery— stealing dreams from out of the night sky
Sometimes I touch my skin and wonder if the past is all there ever was.

“Sometimes I touch my skin and wonder if the past is all there ever was.”
Thank you NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for providing me with an eARC to review! I was in the mood for some light poetry today, and when I came across A Fire in the Sunset by Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev on NetGalley thinking it would be a ‘light’ collection of poems on love, I immediately got to reading.
Mikheyev’s pen is stunningly beautiful; the imagery, the metaphors, the lines that just flow - it truly took me by surprise. I couldn’t put this down and finished it in one sitting. But one thing I was wrong about was thinking this would be ‘light.’ A Fire in the Sunset was anything but light. The collection explores love, and the loss of it, and I don’t think I was ready for just how much it would tug at my heartstrings. Every poem in the collection was a standout in its own right, and yet the ones that truly hit me hard were the ones on loves lost, particularly the ones quoted. The yearning within these (digital) pages was palpable. If you’re in the mood for poetry that you can feel in your soul, pick this up.
“I sometimes dream of him, but the dreams have locks. My keys are now blunt too.”
This was a beautiful read.
Thank you Netgalley for an eArc of this book.
As spring is so close, I love reading poetry. And what could fit better the spring vibes than a love poetry book. I tell you, this was it. All you need is this book and a sunny day in a park and it's the best thing you can do for a little self-care.
Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.
This man be thirsty and can be kinda cringe but I’m also kinda vibing half the time, but a bit meh half the time. It's a style for sure and I commend the writer for having one.
Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
While the style may differ slightly from Rupi Kaur, I firmly believe that readers will find themselves just as captivated by this collection. The themes explored and the skillful execution of each poem ensure that the emotional impact remains just as potent.
This poetry collection is truly remarkable, evoking a myriad of emotions as I delved into its pages. Each piece resonated with me on a deeply visceral level, creating a profound connection to the work as a whole. I highly recommend this collection to anyone seeking poetry that speaks to the soul. It is a testament to the power of words to evoke profound emotions and forge connections with readers.
This was such a beautiful book. Love and poetry are a couple as old as time, but Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev's collections of poems stand out as a collage of love's progression over a decade. Portraying love is difficult to show in one story, but Mikheyev's choice to show
I'll admit, that the shape of some of the poems through me and felt a bit disorientating, but perhaps that's why A Fire in the Sunset stands out because love is messy, chaotic and beautiful. If you love poetry and want to see the growth of love on paper, then this collection is for you.
Thank you, NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for sending me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A Fire in the Sunset is a collection of poems that “explores themes of romantic love and seduction” (this coming from the synopsis).
I enjoyed the stylistic look of some of the poems, the author choosing to make them appear different than then just a box of text.
Some of the poems were lovely to read, but the collection as a whole would probably be better suited to people who enjoy the theme of the poems themselves, I.e. romantic love and seduction, and I am not really one of those people. However, I agree with the description that it would be good as a gift for Valentine’s Day or an anniversary.
Unfortunately, many of the poems (though not all) were reminiscent of the trend in poetry over the last few years where the author will write a handful of words with no flow or direction, separate them into two or three lines by random hits of the return button, and call that poetry, while simultaneously wasting almost an entire page.
All in all, not terrible.
What an impossible task it is to judge a poetry collection, to quantify its worth (relevance? profoundness?) with a star rating. In the author's notice, Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev describes his poetry as his body, with all "its scars, its blemishes, its fatal imperfections". It is no small thing to lay bare one's body to be dissected, so I aspire to be careful with my words.
This poetry collection had a lot of things I typically enjoy when it comes to poetry - religious imagery, nature metaphors, an introspective gaze at sensual and intimate topics, free verse. I connected to some of the poems on a deeper level, the majority was enjoyable to read but did not make a lasting impression on me.
But what stayed after having read the entire collection is the intensity of the love the author holds for the woman he writes about, and how that love amplifies all other feelings and shapes the way he goes through life. i think it's quite special to be loved like that, and to be granted a glimpse into such a relationship as a reader was a touching experience.

I can't wait to read more books from this author! This really is one of those rare books where I wish I could give half rating because I would give it a 4.5
If you're a fan of Rupi Kaur or Courtney Peppernel, I highly recommend giving this collection a chance.

Lately, I've been craving a good book of poetry, something like Rupu Kaur's Milk and Honey or Courtney Pepperell's Pillow Thoughts. A collection that once I started, I wouldn't be able to put it down because I didn't want to lose that beautiful flow.
This book definitely satisfied that craving!
A big thank you to the author and NetGalley for letting me read and review an advanced copy of this book!

Thank you to Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the opportunity to read this collection of poems.
Mikheyev wrote about love beautifully; His poems made me think about how time is always moving forward —it’s important to live in the moment, love deeply, and appreciate what this life has to offer. I’m giving 3 stars as I was moved by the messages within these poems, however, there are themes I don’t read often but can still appreciate. Everyone can find something different while reading, especially with poetry I feel, so I’d say this collection is worth checking out!
Wonderful collection of poetry. This collection evoked so many emotions while reading. I felt connected to work on a visceral level throughout. I highly recommend for fans of Rupi Kaur or Amanda Lovelace. Although slightly different in style, I believe the reader would be able to connect with this work on the same level as the aforementioned poets.
A Fire in the Sunset is a collection of poetry that is centered around love. Mikheyev employs a writing style that strongly evokes free-form and trendy poetry. If you appreciate a contemporary poetic style reminiscent of Rupi Kaur or Tumblr poetry, this book may align with your preferences. While it didn't resonate with my personal taste in poetry, I believe there is an audience for it among fans of modern poetic expressions. My 2 star rating reflects my subjective evaluation based on the stylistic choices and prose of topics that didn't quite resonate with me personally.
Thank you to NetGalley, Moses Yuriyvich Mikheyev, and BooksGoSocial for providing me with this ARC. Although this book was provided, all opinions are my own.
This is a story told in the form of beautiful poetry. A short but impactful read, this is sure to stir up memories and leave a lasting impression.
A big fan of poetry however, this sadly did not work for me, however is ideal for any poetry reader :)
