Goodness! What can I tell you about this book without giving anything away?
The story is extremely dark and creepy. The author has penned an intense tale that I found difficult to read for many reasons.
I found myself on the edge of my seat many times and my heart was pounding.
I have read all of this author’s books and enjoyed them all but this one, for me, was outstanding.
If you haven’t read any of this author’s books, then I would suggest you make a start, you won’t regret it.
My thanks to NetGalley and Joffe books for a copy in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book - not for the faint hearted, it had a few similarities to the Saw movies. A bit scary in places but a great wee thriller.
It had a lot of great elements - a revenge plot, twists, likeable characters (and some not so much). The book's pace speeding up as the chapters went on. The ending was nicely wrapped up with one final twist, just when I thought I had it all worked out.
One tiny error I picked up on was Jack's mum's name flicked between Jean and Joan.
I haven't read any other in the series but this was great as a standalone. Overall a great read and I can't wait to read more of Detective Fisher's adventures.
Thank you to NetGalley and Joffe books.
C.J Grayson is a man who is quickly becoming an author who is making me want to read more crime novels. This is his second book in the Detective April Fisher, the books which are set in Manchester. Once again this novel is fast pace, unputdownable book with the amount of twists and turns it can give you whiplash. I was gripped from the beginning to the end. A truly awesome but a cat and mouse game that makes you want to see this person caught and put away. You kind of forget it is a novel.
Can't wait for the next one.
Wow. This book was awesome. Had me gripped to the last page. The more I read it the quicker I wanted it to finish but at same time I also didn't want it to finish.
Amazing author. Has you gripped plus the characters are also awesome
Guess who’s sleeping with the lights on !!
Wow just wow.
This was such a good read I really enjoyed it.
Love getting to know detective April Fisher and the team more

with a crime so shocking
Can not wait for book 3 they just keep getting better
Can you say SAW?! Jeez what a book! That's the movie this book reminds me of lol Great book!! Now I definitely know I can't ever be an author! How do you even think this stuff up??!! This book had a bit of everything! It seems like it should be listed almost as a horror?! This book had high suspense, action packed, brutal murders, serial killers, snuff films, big time revenge, great who done it, great police work and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and had me glued to my Kindle! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the Joffe books for sharing this book with me!
I have followed this writer since Book 1,self published, through to this new release,Book 2 of his Detective April Fisher thriller series
I have always enjoyed his books, this one though was outstanding….outstanding not only in it’s story and writing but in it’s shudder factor, scary, dark and menacing….it was like being in a SAW movie written and directed by Chris Carter….it was that good!
A really ‘makes you think’ thriller where we got to know Detective Fisher and her colleagues more but the focus never went far from the story, and the story told itself very well, good believable characters and also a plot that was full on right from the beginning
It’s gruesome in parts, a cosy mystery this is not, and a tale you wont forget
Such a good ending but will let you discover that…..
It really is great to follow an authors progress and see their writing grow with them
Brilliant and poignant read
Omg this was mind blowing! I started reading when I couldnt sleep at 2am and boy was that a bad idea! I was so freaked out, this book gets under your skin fron the start and is just so perfectly written that it had every hair on your body standing up. I loved the split narrative between the main character and the killer. They had such unique vibes to them (vibes probably isn't the most eloquent of words but you know, the atmosphere, the feeling of the diff sections) it was amazingly written! It was a bit like saw/ hostel in parts and I love films like that so this was sperfect for me. Some amazing twists and such a good ending! I flew through it with a raging headache but I just had to know who was behind it all!
