I want to Thank NetGalley for this Audio Arc that was a “listen now” in exchange for my honest review. I actually came back to change my rating as I had rounded it up to a 3 but I wrote early and hadn’t listened to the last 3 chapters . Now that I have I can’t in good conscience round up to a 3.
The book in so incongruent between the first 90% and the last few chapters. We go from complete juvenile feel to explicit sex. It’s like two different people wrote the book.

I’ll admit I was desperate for an audiobook as that’s how I wind down at night and I was awaiting others to be approved. This title has been available to listen to for a while now and I have skipped over it until I in had nothing else available.

I figured I knew what I was getting into but sucked it up but it was way more of an eye roll than I expected..

This is basically Freaky Friday regurgitated but putting it in a physics world. I generally love YA and even some solid middle grade books but this was a bit much. Definitely meant for the tween to young teen audience except for the physics angle and the random ranked is sex scenes that entered randomly at the end. Lastly, I’ll say that 80% of the book the narrator was fine But the other 20% it was unbearable. Anytime emotion had to be expressed or an alternative voice it was let just say hard to take. It made a juvenile story even more so.

So for young teens that never read a Freaky Friday type story, you make enjoy it? Just please stop before chapter 40 until you’re older. You don’t need the last 3 chapters at all. The physics angle just seemed indulgent like the author wanted to talk about a preferred topic no matter how ridiculous it was.. Apparently in the physical
Book there are diagrams and such throughout the book that add to the experience. Something that’s obviously lost in an audiobook. Some its more endearing that way?

You know what’s bothering me? The relationship isn’t built on anything. Having someone fall in love with basically themselves since the other person is in their body just doesn’t work as it makes a person feel yucky.

After reading Ghosted, I thought I would prefer Serena's story. I was excited that it featured a unique take on STEM by making it paranormal. However, Serena was the cause of most of my disdain for this story. I hated her. She constantly discusses how pretty she is. It was exhausting.

For the rest of it, I found it extremely repetitive, as though the author could not trust me to remember things that occurred a few pages back. On top of all of that, I never felt the couple's chemistry.

I did this on audio, and it was dying for duet narration. When they first switched bodies, I found it hard to determine who was speaking. It made it hard to concentrate, and I found myself zoning out. The narrators themselves were great, but the structure made it hard to follow.

At this point, I think that Sarah Ready is not for me.

I was a little apprehensive going into this book just based on the body swap trope but I decided to give it a go anyway since it has such great reviews thus far. I am actually pretty impressed with the authors ability to do this without making it feel icky (imo). I ended up liking this story and felt it was sweet and heartwarming with a bit of humor as well.

Although I did not read the first book in this series, I didn't feel confused or lost in any way so this can definitely be read as a standalone.

Serena Otaki has her dream job working for CERN in Geneva. One night she meets Henry Joule, and after a passionate night with him she discovers he is her new boss. Rather than complicate matters she quickly tells him it was “a bit of fun”. There is a time jump, Serena and Henry have been working together for 2 years. While at CERN, they are caught in a storm which causes them to switch bodies. They have to work together to pretend to be each other until they can switch back.
This is my first book by Sarah Ready, although I wasn’t keen on Serena to begin with as the book progressed understanding her backstory and the way she dealt with situations made her more likable. The description Serena gives of being a woman in a male body was hilarious and her confusion as to what was happening was brilliant.
I listened to the audiobook so the footnotes were a little confusing and seemed a bit of an intrusion to narrative, probably works better in written format. Kelsey Navarro Foster did an excellent job with the narration however I was expecting it to be a two-perspective book as there were two narrators mentioned). Would have liked more from Henry’s perspective.

It took my brain a hot minute to remember what happened in book #1 "Ghosted" and why the main character was familiar. Once I remembered who was who, the story took off.

I like that this story could be read as a standalone novel as it focuses on Serena and Henry but I highly recommend reading Ghosted first so you know how Serena ended up in Geneva (and Ghosted was also a great story).

Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster did a great job narrating this story. I look forward to listening to more books narrated by them in the future.

I liked the concept of this book but I don't think this story was for me. I think the author did a good job of allowing the characters to capture essence of the body they are in so you get an idea of what the body owner was life but I did not like that for 90% of the book, you did not get Henry’s POV. Overall the story was ok, but I expected more insight on both characters navigating the switch.

I am ambivalent about this book. There were many elements I liked but all some that irked me.

First the narration was done well. Good intonations, emotions, accent switches.
Henry was a doll. I need him, I want him he's amazing. Kind, smart, hunky, likes his family and dogs and a virgin. Top that off with a sweet brit accent. Yum!!
Serena, I could do without. I think she totally missed the point of love and relationships and it took her a long time to learn that her suppositions were not necessarily correct. I mean who throws away someone without even trying.

The premise and pacing of the story was right. There were many laugh out moments too. Overall a good read..

Thank you Net Galley for the opportunity to try a new author. This book was very smartly written, fun, and offered an enjoyable story. It’s one of those books that I was smiling listening to.

For fans of Ali Hazelwood and Freaky Friday, this book is a cute little enemies(?)-to-lovers (or is it forbidden lovers? insta-attraction?) set in a science lab. It was so entertaining and super cute! So many romance books have become super formulaic and trope-first, but I really liked that this book fleshed out its characters and also had a fresh plot (at least compared to the other romance books I've read!)

I have had the pleasure of reading a few of Sarah Ready’s books now and I am always blown away by how much research she must put into the characters and the attention to detail in the story line. This one was no different, it was a great well thought out story that flowed nicely. I was a little put off with all the science talk at the start, but that quickly trailed off once we got into the main body of the book. Definitely worth a read, recommend!
I had the audio version which was well narrated and easy to follow. Also using different narrators for the male and female roles which always works better.

I have listened to or read several books by Sarah Ready and enjoyed them, The idea for this story was entertaining and I did enjoy it, but I didn't love it, perhaps because the characters just weren't for me, especially Henry. I also got quite confused by who was talking, telling the story after the switch as the voice did not match the body or dit it?

If you enjoy science geek rom-coms and a little magic, like in Jennifer Garner's Family Switch movie, then this story might be perfect for you.

I could not put this book down!! I loved how it explained how women goes through things every month and also the male perspective!! I laughed so hard!! Pick this book up today!! You will not be disappointed!!

"Switched" starts off as an insta-attraction romance and gets down to the nitty gritty within the first few chapters, before either knows that they are destined to work together. This is just a bit jarring since you wouldn't expect it until way later in the book, but doesn't detract from the story, in fact, it leads to us getting a better understanding of both MCs and how they feel about love (opposites attract kind of deal here). As would be expected, the fling doesn't last and the two are antagonistic to each other until an event comes to pass where they have to come to understand each other better. They continue to learn and grow together as the story progresses, giving us some cute moments and others that hold you with suspense. Henry and Serena find themselves in big life moments and working together to get through these moments, all the while realizing just how perfect they are for each other and falling in love (and acknowledging it).

It was a super cute book and was a pretty good story overall. Narrators weren't the best, but wasn't enough of a factor to give up on it, just super slow on normal (1x) speed. Upping the speed definitely helped.

This was cute. It took me a few hours to get into but then it got better. I did not like the narrators though. But that is a personal issue not an issue with the story itself

I didn’t finish this! l just couldn’t get into! I felt like it was all over the place from the beginning and it wasn’t grabbing my attention!

This book had me CACKLING at parts!!!
Also had I woken up in a male body I’d start doing jumping jacks in grey sweats just to watch it bounce!

And that curveball that was thrown in!!!! The way it went from her basically sacrificing herself just so he could live, TO HIM SPEAKING IN CHAPTER 40!!!!


I was absolutely hollering!!! I think for a solid 5 minutes!! And then my mouth hung open for another 5 !!


But I’m so happy everything worked out in the end for them both!!! They deserve it all!!!!

Personally, I love a Freaky Friday concept and Switched was no exception. I didn’t realise until I’d finished that this is the second instalment in a series, so I will be checking out the previous title.

I massively enjoyed the casual, funny writing style. It made a subject (atom smashing) incredibly easy to understand and go along with.

The narration by Kelsey Navarro Foster was fantastic, I will be searching out more books narrated by her.

Serena and Henry have great chemistry (the insta-love may put some people off), the plot relies on the miscommunication trope a little bit more than I would like, which is why this is 4.5 stars.

Overall, I had a great time listening to Switched! Thank you again to the publisher and NetGalley.

"Switched" by Sarah Ready delivers a delightful blend of Freaky Friday vibes, workplace rivalry, and fake dating tropes that kept me engaged from start to finish. While the heavy focus on technical science terms at the beginning initially lost me, I thoroughly enjoyed the protagonists' journey of navigating their switch and finding a way back. As the second installment in the "Ghosted" series, this audiobook offers an entertaining listen, and I can't wait to dive into book 3.

This was truly one of those books that the author reels you in with their writing style. I received the audiobook format, but the author truly has a way with words. It automatically made me want to go find and devour every book this author has written. The characters are so perfect in their own, so different in personalities and everything. It was wild that they switched bodies, I was like how is this going to work if they're going to date one another but also themselves as it's their own bodies they're dating while they're in the other person's body. It was a crazy concept, but the author did it justice. Super fun, quirky, and interesting. I loved that the FMC was smart and goal driven, not the weak damsel in distress a lot of other authors paint FMCs out to be. Both of the narrators did the main characters justice. A wonderful read all around!
