Firstly, I'd like to thank NetGalley and Sarah Ready for the free audiobook ARC in exchange for my honest review.

After reading most of Ali Hazelwood's books with strong women in STEM, I thought this could possibly be another where the jargon of the field flies over my head, (my degrees are in English and business, so I know next to nothing about most of the STEM disciplines). Thankfully, Serena Otaki takes the time at the beginning of the book to break down what she does and what it's like to work at CERN. I felt very well informed of the subject matter before the author started to roll the plot.

Serena and Henry had a one night tryst years prior, only to find out that Henry was going to be the new boss at CERN. Serena was determined to focus on her career and not on men when a freak electric storm at one of CERN's particle colliders sends Serena into Henry's body and Henry into Serena's body.

The remainder of the book is spent with Henry and Serena not only discovering themselves, but discovering one another and what makes them who they are, including several family get-togethers and major illnesses. Their new-found appreciation for one another puts them on the path to love.

I really enjoyed this book, and the only thing that actively bothered me was a sweet clean romance that plugged in a seemingly unnecessary sex scene at the very end (truly, the very end...last 15-20 minutes of the audiobook). I think the book could have ended before that and it would have been just fine. Shout out to Kelsey Navarro Foster and husband James Anderson Foster for a BEAUTIFUL performance of the book!

Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC.

Once again, I loved this book. Before this series I’d never read a Sarah Ready book and I’ve been missing out. These books have made me laugh out loud and tear up and I just love them. Cant recommend them enough.

Took a minute for me to be invested- but once the switch happened, I couldn’t put it down.

This was such an enjoyable read and appreciated the little quirks of both Serena & Henry. It was sweet to see them get to understand the other better whilst they literally walked in eachothers shoes.

"Tea is the most useful beverage ever invented. I realise this now...there are many, many situations in which tea is the correct, only answer"

There were a couple of things that just felt a bit off to me, mainly the Insta love after their first meet (and how important that was to Henry).

“It feels like love, it feels like love, it feels like love”

Loved the addition of the diagrams and footnotes throughout the story. They’re quirky, just like the characters. Be mindful that if you choose the audiobook, although the diagrams are described, you will miss out on the full effect.

His large family is always a dynamic that I enjoy reading about. The hang ups that Serena experiences in relation to love are explored. And was impressed with how this played into the ending.

“I’ll be working under you. I don’t date colleagues. Footnote number 1. Or anyone else. My rule, one and done. Always. Dating is a distraction”

Pick this up if you love a cute romcom and science!

Side note- how pretty this this cover!

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and author for this eARC in exchange for this honest review.

Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC audio copy of “Switched” by Sarah Ready, and narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster.

Serena is a physicist working in prestigious lab. Her career is the most important thing for her, and when she has (what she thinks is a one night stand) with Henry, who not only falls in love with her but also turns out to be her boss, she pushes him away, making an excuse for him to hate her. Nothing, she believes, can interfere with her career. Somehow, during a storm, their bodies became switched: Henry becomes Serena, and Serena becomes Henry. The hilarious scenes that followed, showing how each character coped with suddenly being endowed with body parts of the opposite sex, had me laughing. I enjoyed how the two of them kept their situation secret when they had to make some obligatory visits to their families, pretending to be the boyfriend or girlfriend, rather than the actual child. The story was good, but sometimes it seemed to veer into a sort of lecture mode on “what is love”? I also was somewhat drawn out of the story when the one chapter, told from Henry’s POV, was narrated by a male narrator. Just one chapter. It seemed unbalanced and out of place. But overall, this was a fun and light story to spend a few days listening to.

I really enjoyed this book and would give it 4.25 stars! I’m not normally a fan of Insta love books but this was more lovers to enemies to friends to lovers. I also really loved the idea of this story which is similar to a freaky Friday body switch, but with romantic partners versus family members. I absolutely loved Serena as a main character and really felt a lot of kinship with her. Sarah wrote a smart, nerdy, career driven woman who is a little messy and is super relatable. As a baby Trekkie I also enjoyed all the Star Trek references, though they weren’t so niche that you’d be lost if you’ve never seen the show. The only negatives that I will say from listening to this as an audiobook versus reading it as an actual book was that it could get confusing at times, because they still refer to themselves as Henry and Serena, even though they’re in the other person’s body. I’m not sure if this would’ve been easier to follow with a dual narration, or with the actual book. Additionally, I thought that the narrator did an amazing job of explaining what was certainly charts and graphs that were in the published book. Overall this was a really fun read! I have not read the first novel in this series, ghosted, but I didn’t feel like the reading experience suffered as a standalone. I am looking forward to reading more of Sarah’s work in the future.

Serena Otaki is a California-born, Star Trek-loving physicist who works in Geneva at The Large Hadron Collider. She is proud of her singlehood and wants to keep it that way.

Henry Joule is a British physicist who is obsessively organized and wants to be married with a family.

One night at the local pub, Serena and Henry have an electric connection and a night of passion. Serena freaks out due to her having feelings towards another human being and bolts.

The only problem is... they are to work together on a new project.

One day at work an electrical storm causes issues with the particle collider and suddenly, they've switched.

I really enjoyed this book! But honestly, I have loved everything I've read by Sarah Ready.

I'm always excited when I see there is a new book from Sarah Ready! I dropped whatever I'm reading or listening to so I can get to hers in that moment. This was another great book that makes you fall in love. I LOVED ghosted so it was nice to having those characters brought in as well. Serena and Henry will take you on quite the journey! They will make you laugh out loud when they switch and will have you swooning in the end. I have to give a shout out to the narrator’s Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster. They did a wonderful job telling this story and made it easy to listen too. I also have to say I absolutely LOVE the cover of this book. If you are a fan of Freaky Friday then you will love this book. I can't recommend this book enough or any of her books. Sit down, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this wonderful book.

Thank you NetGalley and W. W. Crown, and imprint of Swift & Lewis Publishing, LLC for allowing me to listen to this ARC in advance for my honest opinion.

This one is Freaky Friday, but with the twists of a gender swap and romance. Serena & Henry have a one night stand, but the morning after leads to a few extra complications.

The story is STEM based and includes some cute elements. It was nice to see Jillian & Daniel from the first Ghosted book, but this one just doesn't quite measure up to the sparks from book one. It was a LOT of tropes thrown together: enemies to lovers, forced proximity, family wedding, family health scare, shared bed, fake dating, opposites attract...and I could keep going.

It was fine. We knew where the story was heading the whole time, but the lack of twists and problems made it a bit underwhelming.

Narration at 2x wasn't a listening issue. Female narrator tried to keep up Henry's British accent & Serena's American one, but then it switched to needing to change timber to reflect the body switch and it got a little tough to keep up sometimes. Male narrator lacked the crisp, formal accent that was stressed for Henry throughout--and his inclusion just didn't seem necessary.

Overall: 3 stars (I liked it, but it wasn't the best)

I'll tell my students about: language, alcohol, supernatural, sex

Switched by Sarah Ready is a fun, trading places romance, taken to a new level by the inclusion of actual body switching and all sorts of STEM fun. Main characters Serena and Henry make a delightful odd couple, and their banter is a huge part of this books' charm. Add Serena's continuous-and quite humorous- internal monologue and you have all the makings for a great read.

I had a little trouble getting into the book in the beginning, I struggled to understand how all the science-y interludes were related to the plot, but as the book progressed the interludes were more seamlessly integrated and felt natural in Serena's character voice.

Speaking of voices, I was able to review this book in audio format, and I really appreciated the performance given by Kelsey Navarro Foster. Serena is a character with a very distinct voice, and I feel Kelsey's portrayal really added to the story's tone and humor.

I received this book as an audio ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Switched follows two scientists in a Freaky Friday situation. Serena is a theoretical physicist working in a prestigious lab who loves her career. She unknowingly sleeps with her new project manager, who falls in love with her during their one-night stand. Serena refuses a relationship with him out of fear that she will lose herself if she allows the relationship to move forward. Several years later, in a random occurrence the two switch bodies and Serena is forced to reconsider her earlier decisions. While I don't use the CAWPILE system to determine my rating, I do think it is a helpful way to describe my thoughts on a book. Characters - The characters in this book had some depth, but were largely one-note. Serena is a career-focused woman who doesn't want her independence stolen by a man. Henry is a somewhat oblivious scientist who is hopelessly in love with Serena. Henry doesn't really grow or change throughout the story, and you can probably guess what Serena's character growth is. The side characters are almost entirely flat.Atmosphere/Setting - I wouldn't give this book to s scientist if you have me a million dollars. The scenes set in the lab where the characters work seem to be a stretch. This said, the settings that the characters travel to are entertaining. Writing Style - This book, mostly at the beginning and end breaks the fourth wall. There is also exactly one chapter told from Henry's POV. These choices feel out of place and really took me out of the story. They seem to be there to make the main character more charming, but I thought it was done very poorly and felt like a crutch for the author not knowing how to start or end her story. Plot - The plot was simplistic, but very readable. The body switching plot mechanic largely served as a way to build a forced-proximity trope. Intrigue - The explanation for the body switching was confusing and illogical. I found it to be very unsatisfying. Logic/Relationships - I was disappointed in the rationale for Serena's hesitancy around relationships. The justification given really bothered me, and the motivation for her to change felt more like fear of being alone than anything else. Enjoyment - This is the basis for my star rating, which is 3.5 stars. When I picked up this book, I was already reading another book that was highly anticipated for me. I kept returning to this one. It was entertaining, easy to follow, and generally a good time. I also think the narrator did a fabulous job on the audiobook. I thought much more about the story than the narrator's choices, which was great. the narrator had a big challenge here, balancing which accents and tones should be used for which characters while they were switched. Really great work. Reading through my comments above, it seems as though I didn't enjoy this book, but I ultimately did. As I mentioned, I kept picking this book up when I had other options what would have been just as easy to read. It is an entertaining and relatively quick read. READER RECOMMENDATION: Check it out from the library if you have a free afternoon and you want a popcorn read that you don't have to think about.

3.5 Thank you to NetGalley, W. W Crown and Sarah Ready for an advanced copy of the audio book in exchange for an honest review.

Having recently read Ghosted, I was curious to see what the author would go with this one. It is a standalone novel but Ducky, themain character is the best friend of Jillian from Ghosted, and she maees a couple of appearances. Overall, I found the storyline to be sweet and enjoyable but once again it felt a bot too long and drawn out.

I enjoyed the job that the narrator does in the audiobook, aptly doing both a woman from CA and a British man (and also doing a British man attempting a CA accent and CA woman attempting a British accent!)

This was such a cute story! If you love the Big Bang theory and freaky Friday, I suggest you pick this up!

I loved the narration style on audio. Serena breaking the 4th wall was the best! The characters were all very cute and easy to root for. I definitely found myself relating to Serena.

I’m not the biggest fan of instalove, but loved it besides that!

Freaky Friday meets Men are from Mars Women are from Venus. Serena and Henry share one intense night and Henry tries to explain it as love at first sight. She doesn’t believe in it and doesn’t have time for anything other than physics. During a crazy storm, they switch bodies and have to attend a wedding pretending to be each other and unresolved feelings resurface. Understanding of the ins and outs of being a man versus a woman and a woman versus a man they gain a better understanding and respect for each other's lives. They bond and find something that was missing within their original selves. Walking a mile or more in each other's lives brings an understanding that could have taken years to achieve. The story that unfolded was a delightful mix of humor and charm. The author skillfully portrayed the unique challenges and humorous mishaps that Serena and Henry faced while inhabiting each other's bodies.

hank you, NetGalley, Sarah Ready and W.W. Crown for the opportunity.

Title: Switched
Author: Sarah Ready
Series: Ghosted #2
Narrators: Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster
Publisher: W.W..Crown ~ Member of the ‘Independent Book Publishers Association’ (IBPA)
Genre: Romance, Women’s Fiction
Pub Date: February 20, 2024
My Rating: 2.5 Stars
Pages: 454

Although I am not a big romance fan, this is my sixth Sarah Ready novel.
My favorites were "The Space Between" and "French Holiday" - So YES! I do love Sarah Ready’s stories; and I have faith that the Ghosted series was going to be a fun read similar to the Josh and Gemma.

At first I was curious but as mentioned I am not a big romance fan; but I love Sarah Ready.
Plus a romance story gives hope. I like the flirting and sweet adoring looks-I have a great imagination so don’t need details about the characters sex lives.

Sorry to say that this story didn’t live up to my expectation. I didn’t care for the narrators- I am not sure if it was the story or the characters – Or both.
I will read another Sarah Ready but perhaps not in this series.

Want to thank NetGalley and W.W. Crown - Member of the ‘Independent Book Publishers Association’ (IBPA) for granted me this early audiobook.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for February 20, 2024.

I loved this book.
I'm super impressed.
I thought it started quickly and I was in doubt, but then it developed wonderfully.
The book made me smile without me realizing it.
It's so fun and enjoyable, but the characters also go through painful and emotional moments, in which they need to depend on each other, and they begin to discover and see themselves in new ways, and the other .
The characters had a connection and I felt it. I liked them both together so much. Was so endeering.

The narrator did an excellent job of bringing the world to us, involving us with the characters' feelings. Is realy easy to understand the audiobook because there is different accents or intonations for the all cast.

I loved the story and the audiobook.

This is the second book on the series, but you don't need to read the first one to read or listen to this one.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. Switched is a fun Freaky Friday / rom-com story. Meet Henry and Serena they are both physicists working in Geneva. When Henry was new in town they had an amazing one night stand. They quickly realized that they'd be co-workers and Serena does not want an office romance, work comes first for her. One night they both staying late at work, and there's a crazy thunderstorm. Things are going wonky in the lab, Henry and Serena huddle together to comfort each other, and when the storm ends, they are in other's bodies. Shenanigans ensue! There are family obligations that Henry has, so they end up having to impersonate each other. Also, being in each others bodies gives them access to their memories and true feelings.
This was a wonderful story, filled with silliness, and with both heartfelt and swoony moments.

Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown and Imprint of Swift & Lewis for the advanced listener copy. Kelsey Navarro Foster deserve all the audiobook awards for her performance. This audiobook had the highest degree of difficulty. Kelsey had to play a male Brit in an American female body, vice versa. Plus pretend that they are new to these accents. It was confusing , but she pulls it off, and I always knew who was talking. James Anderson Foster narrates one chapter in one pivotal scene, he was great as well.

I love this novel so much that I re-listened it back to back. I didn’t believe anything could top Ghosted. But Serena and Henry were perfect. They were like oil and vinegar creating an optimal emulsion, and oh my gawd! Henry… I have no words. Sarah Ready you are quickly becoming my favorite in creating these romance worlds I can live in for a few hours a day. Thank you!

Switched by Sarah Ready is one of the most fun books I have read. It had everything you could possibly want in a sequel novel, from showing us the delightful cast of characters from book one, while propelling us through a fresh new tale. Serena jumps off the page and feels more like a friend telling you about what's happening in her life, than a character in a book.

I was disappointed by the ending. I wanted there to be any sort of hint to the why of the large mystery of the book. There is no conclusion to the mystery, not even a hint of an explanation, and with the two main characters being scientists, I find it hard to swallow that they just went on with their lives, not trying to solve it. Both of them work at making sense of the mysterious, yet when the biggest mystery of their lives happens, they seem almost disinterested in finding out why.

First off l'd like to say thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to Switched. This book was so funny & enjoyable to listen to. Swapping bodies with the opposite sex? It's the perfect recipe for disaster & laugh out loud embarrassing situations for both characters. There's plenty of endearing & serious moments as well to round out the story, but I am a sucker for comedy. There's lots of geeky & quirky vibes throughout & perfect for fans of STEM romance.
The narrators do an amazing job of bringing the story to life & never sounding flat or dull. The comedic timing is well executed. I would 100% recommend reading (or listening) to this book if you're in the mood for lighthearted romantic comedy. And also anyone who loves corgis. Just saying.

Switched is a modern day Freaky Friday romance. Serena and Henry share one intense night and Henry tries to explain it as love at first sight. She doesn’t believe in it and doesn’t have time for anything other than physics. During a crazy storm, they switch bodies and have to attend a wedding pretending to be each other and unresolved feelings resurface.
Cute romance story, not steamy but still a fun read.
