This feel-good romance, with notable sci-fi vibes, is a nerdy take on Freaky Friday.. Geeky Friday if you will.

Two star-crossed scientists collide like the particles they work with, resulting in a body swap. There are forced proximity and denied feelings to contend with, as well as anger and misunderstandings to work through which of course builds all that sexual tension.

There was a real endearing authenticity to the MCs, who were well-rounded characters with depth and history.
As a Brit, I did find some of the bumbling intellectual English gentleman bit to be slightly too on the nose. I'm honestly not sure if Henry gushed more passionately about Serena or cups of tea. Corgis and suits of armour aren't as commonplace across the pond as you might think either. Although it's all in good fun and did make me laugh.

I'm so glad I opted for the audiobook. The narration, writing and dialogue worked perfectly together to introduce Serena with just the right amount of snarkiness and exasperation. It also did really well to keep even the most layman listener (that would be me) engaged if the characters went off on a nerd tangent, to enthuse about science or Star Trek. The narrator switching between genders and accents at the various stages of the plot was also skillfully done, without any distraction from the story.

I would recommend reading the first Ghosted book before picking this one up. I didn't and wish I had as there are mentions of the previous characters and their story that might serve as spoilers.

Thank you Sarah Ready for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This book was a mixture of entertainment and me pausing to ask wait what?!? It required more concentration than I was expecting. I was well written and had an interesting concept.

Quick Summary: A beautifully impossible, "doors in the universe" romance

My Review: Switched by Sarah Ready is book two in the Ghosted series. It is a superb love story with a dynamic sci-fi feel.

About the Book: Physicists Serena Otaki and Henry Joules had one mind boggling encounter after another. After a chance meeting, a passionate and rather life changing engagement, and a Freaky Friday-esque episode, they each begin to see one another in a different light.

Question to Consider: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to occupy the heart, the mind, and the experiences of someone you care about deeply?

My Final Say: Sarah Ready did a sensational job with this book. It was so different. I absolutely loved the premise and the lead characters so much. I found their story to be refreshing. It was funny. It was emotional. It was sweet. It was memorable.

Other: Hands down, my favorite scene dealt with the period dilemma. That was a giant bahaha. (It was comedy gold, as far as I'm concerned.)

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this! Sarah Ready is one of my new favorite authors. Her stories are so unique and fun to read. I thought this was super cute and full of emotion. I really enjoyed the narrators.

What a great story! I’ve read a few of Sarah Ready’s books in the past and they are always so unique and fascinating. Besides the whole switching bodies thing, I found both characters Serena and Henry to be relatable-their fears and emotions. I cannot recommend her books enough! Loved the narrators.

Thank you for the ALC in exchange for my honest review.

This was just as charming as Ghosted! I love how the characters went from love to hate to love again. It was a little confusing as an audio with their voices as they were the opposite gender but overall a super cute romance. I listened to the entirety in 24 hours so a solid 4 star in my book!

Thank you, Sarah Ready and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to listen to this early.

They say you never know someone until you walked a mile in their shoes. Well, Serena Otaki, double-doctorate physicist who works smashing atoms at the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva, is about to know Henry Joule really really well. They met 437 days ago (or so) at The Cock and Bull, had an earth shattering one night stand that scared the bejesus out of Serena (who falls in love at first sight? Not her, for sure!), specially when she finds out he's about to be her new boos at the lab. So she does the reasonable thing to do: friendzones the crap out of him.

Henry was equally thunderstruck by his encounter with Serena and doesn't understand why she suddenly went out of her way to hurt him. Now, they've been working together for more than a year in a most civilized manner... until the Universe (capital U) has plans for them.

One night, one thunderstorm, one anomaly in the lab and - boom! - they wake up in each other's bodies! And with those bodies come feelings and memories... Henry has to attend his brother's wedding that weekend, so Serena has to go, posing as him and him posing as his girlfriend.

Now they're walking a mile in each other's bodies - will Serena understand that love can, indeed, be wonderful? Will they ever switch back?

This one was lovely! So much fun to read/listen to this geeky Freaky Friday! I loved all the scienc-y stuff (former woman in STEM here) and it's so romantic! And funny!

Narration: Infinite kudos to Kelsey Navarro Foster for being Serena, Henry, both of them being each other and all the other characters! Amazing! We get one chapter in Henry's POV and who else would we want other than James Anderson Foster? Perfect Henry!

The audiobook provided a truly immersive experience, skillfully navigating the delicate balance between laughter and deep, resonant emotions. The unexpected twists in the narrative added an element of impossibility that held my attention from the opening moments to the final words.

The narration, rich in tone and expression, brought to life both the joyous and melancholic moments with a profound impact. The author's adept storytelling, combined with the narrator's skill, created a vivid tapestry of emotions that lingered in my mind long after the final chapter.

In this auditory journey, the author's unique sense of humor was not lost but enhanced by the spoken words, making for a captivating and enriching experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this audiobook to anyone seeking a seamless fusion of laughter and introspection, as it truly elevates the listening adventure to a new level of depth and engagement.

I really enjoyed this book actually! It is like the quirky little sister of _The Love Hypothesis_.
Serena is a strong, independent woman, who needs nothing, but science, Star Trek, and her cat. Henry is a heartthrob, who is kind, attractive, British, and wants to fall in love. Them, switching bodies? A recipe for disaster.
But the characters are so lovable, even the minor ones, the Armageddon is avoided. They help each other through ebb and flow, and realize, that what they feared might not be relevant after all.
It warmed my heart, and the narrators were amazing!

Thank you for the ALC, Netgalley, Ms Ready, and W. W. Crown!

Serena Otaki, lady of stem. Passionate about Star Trek, spicy tofu, and her cat, Captain Purrk. Happily chaotic she is very content with her life and how it's going. Currently working at The Large Hadron Collider near Geneva, Switzerland, she's not ready for any change. Until one night when she meets Henry Joules, simple and sweet Brit. They spend the night together and worlds collide. They are in love - but Serena can't have that. She breaks away from Henry and vows to get on with her life. As luck may have it, Henry is also her new boss. Someone she has to see every single day. During a late night at the office a freak storm causes havoc, forcing both Serena and Henry to switch bodies. Can they find their way back to themselves and still be the same people? Or does the universe have bigger plans for the pair?

Here we have another great addition to the women of STEM category in romance. Serena is strong, knows what she wants and she is overall, quite likable. Watching both her and Henry falling deeper and acknowledging their instant attraction was love was satisfying. I loved the scientific references and the stark contrast between both MC's. Switched is a journey of self-discovery in a light and hilarious way. Great as a standalone, but there are characters involved in this story from Ghosted. For the best overall reading, give that one a go first, if you haven't already.

Perfect for fans of:
- Instalove.
- Breaking the fourth wall.
- Opposites attract
- Forced proximity.
- Fake dating.

Thank you to NetGalley & Sarah Ready for both an eARC and ALC for honest review. Publication is set for February 20th, 2024.

I've been in a reading slump for quite a while and today I just binge-listened to the audio version or this book. I'm officially cured from my book slump and I was finally so into a story that I ignored all of my other responsibilities. It was a great feeling to be back into it.

I read the first book in the series a while ago so I was excited to see what the author did with this one. It made me happy to see the characters from the previous book play a role in their story. This love story had me on my toes and I never knew what was going to happen. It was such an interesting dynamic when the characters switched bodies. It was uncharted territory so everything was an obstacle and it was so fun to watch them figure it out.

The characters were so interesting to follow. For once, the girl was the noncommital one who had to get won over. I loved seeing that dynamic because it always seems like guys are the ones who aren't ready to commit in the romance novel scene. This book was adorable and gave me a warm, cozy feeling. Will be continuing this series as they come out!

At this point, I'm convinced that Sarah Ready could publish her grocery list and I'd be in love. Her range of romance writing is freaking fabulous. Switched is the second installment in the Ghosted series, can fully be read as a stand-alone but shares the similar almost 'paranormal', quirky, kinda science-y and nerdy qualities of a romance.

Switched embraces the "Freaky Friday" theme and Serena and Henry are now in each other's bodies. I loved Serena and Henry, total opposites yet work together so incredibly well. Their banter throughout is top-notch, another Sarah Ready trait that hits every time. Throughout this laugh out loud read, there are such tender and intimate moments of them helping each other out in such vulnerable times. The evolution of their personal growths and their relationship is magical.

All in all, another knockout from Ready that will have you snickering in delight, swooning, and groaning with frustration from the tension that builds. The narrators flow well and offer that dual POV switch which is often essential for me to really immerse myself in a read that is dual POV. Their tones and flow compliment each other well and fit lovely.

Sarah Ready books are an auto read for me. I love ghosted, and absolutely loved this one as well. I got the arc ebook and the audiobook and switched between the two. Kinda reminded me of Freaky Friday (body switching) and I loved that movie growing up. While both ways are good, definitely recommend the audiobook. I absolutely loved the narrator!

Our main character Serena believes true love is a science. If only it were that easy girl. Black and white, and not messy. Henry is looking for his true love. These two switch bodies and have to figure out how to switch back. Along the way they really get to know each other and the rest is history.. you know a great love story!

I did enjoy this one a little more than "Ghosted" (also by this author) but that's just because I really enjoyed the body swapping premise! I wish there was more magical realism in rom com books. Ashley Poston is another author who does a great job of this!

Thank you netgalley for the arc in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Ok the Ghosted series is back and still great!!

This time we follow Serena Otaki who doesn’t believe in love, unless that love is particle physics. After an encounter with her co-worker, they find themselves in each others’ bodies and start to realize they understand each other more than they thought.

This book was quirky, funny and had a lot of heart. It was just such a feel good time that I had trouble putting it down! The body switching led to some truly hilarious scenes and thought this was seriously just a good read. Suspend your disbelief and you’ll have a great time.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to listen tot his book in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this romance from Sarah Ready. I love a good story with excellent character development, no love triangles, and no unnecessary drama to add fuel to a situation. This was such a compelling listen and I also enjoyed the narrator for Serena. I found myself not wanting to go to bed to keep listening for the developments in this book.

There is a main current of female independence and not losing your identity to be with your partner and it was so well done and written. The science talk was enjoyable and funny and you fell in love with all the characters introduced. Really well done, and I can’t wait to read more Sarah Ready books.

I was immediately drawn to the female main character due to her love of Star Trek. The main characters were easy to love and the side characters added value to their story. A mix of magic, science, and a great imagination creates a memorable story.

Fun 5/5
Spice 1/5 (there are like two or three spicy-ish scenes, some more spicy some less spicy)

I started this book 20h ago so it is safe to say that I LOVED it. Something about this concept is just so fun. Switching your body with someone else’s body for a little while and experiencing everything the way they would experience it.
I loved that things like getting your period or getting kicked in the balls were part of the switching experience because they are so sex specific.

But there is one thing that I wished was part of the book because it is something many people (I think) wonder about: experiencing sex as the other gender. I would it be a little weird? Yes, but the whole concept of the book is a little weird and I personally thing that it would have made the story more interesting.

Overall a great story and a great narrator (Kelsey Navarro Foster).

I really enjoy Sarah Ready's books. So much so that now I don't even read the synopsis and just immediately hit the request button. This book is the second in the Ghosted series and while you don't have to read the first book, the characters are referenced in the second book however you can also read this as a standalone.

This book sees Henry and Serena fall for each other, insta love style. When they each wake up in the other's body, they have to try to maneuver their way around different jobs and different families while getting used to their own new body.

So, this one was just okay for me. There were a few laugh out loud moments however I couldn't really get over how unbelievable it was. Insta love is not my favourite trope either so that probably didn't help. It was still a decent listen however especially with the fantastic narration with both the American/English accents and male/female characters. I will be on the lookout for Sarah's next book - will read whatever she writes!

First Thank you Netgalley for the audio arc. Sarah Ready had done it again. I love the twist that she puts in her Rom-Coms, two CERN doctor have a one night stand and after she denies her feelings for him, they end up in a freaky Friday situation. After having to stick together and going to a family wedding and rushing to be by her mother’s side after having a heart attack, they learn more and more about each other and what it means to be in a relationship and the fear that she had of losing one’s identity once you enter a relationship isn’t what she originally thought, it’s about growing with the other person and making each other better , not become one in the same and losing all self identity. With wonderful self growth, and some breaking of the fourth wall, and a whole lot of love Switched is a cute rom-com.

Thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown for this Audiobook Advanced Reader Copy, in exchange for my honest review.

I was lucky enough to have read the first book in this duology last year (also as an ARC) and really enjoyed it. So, when the opportunity to grab this one came up, I jumped on it.

Switched is the story of Serena a physicist living in Geneva, who has put her work first in her life. So much so that she has essentially sworn off love for Physics. Other than the occasional hook-up, Serena is happy in her life. Until she meets Henry in a bar, and her life is turned inside out or at least flipped around. Especially when she learns that he is her new boss.

In a "Freaky Friday" trope, Serena and Henry end up switching bodies. And discovering that sometimes you do need love.

I loved that we had met Serena in the first book (Ghosted) as that MC's best friend. And that you were given an update on the couple from the first book. It was a nice tied up little now moment.

The characters are very likeable, and the supporting characters add to the overall feel of the book. The premise is far-fetched in the best way.

Sarah Ready definitely has my attention as a go to author. Highly recommend this book.
4 Stars.
