Ready wrote a fast-paced, shockingly believable, witty story with charm and humor and, of course, a HEA required of the genre.

Switched is compelling from the fourth chapter (hang in there) and the premise sets the stage for a look at some poignant truths usually reserved for award-nominated good literature. There is humor and heart in equal measure, and…science (happy sigh).

Before reading Switched, if someone recommended a body-swap plot? Noooo thank you. Body-swap plot written by Sarah Ready? Yes please! Who knew?

This book is a delight! I got an ARC from NetGalley and this is one of the reasons I love NetGalley - I get to try books that I wouldn’t otherwise select and discover excellent authors to add to my must read list.

Strong 3.5 stars. I love the idea of two scientists dealing with the magic of body swapping. The characters were likeable and had flaws that I was rooting for them to work through. I also legitimately laughed out loud at some of the lines. I would say that one thing that kind of detracted from my enjoyment is that the first 25% of the book was a lot of chaotic internal monologue which slowed down the story. But even though that felt a little bloated, the story was really fun once they swapped bodies.

Also, the female narrator was awesome. Reading for a female character in a male's body and changing her voice depending on whether it was an internal or external voice must have been so confusing to keep straight, but she did great.

3.75⭐
Genre ~ contemporary romance
Series ~ Ghosted #2
Others in the series ~ Ghosted
Setting ~ Switzerland
Publication date ~ February 20, 2024
Est page Count ~ 338 (42 chapters)
Audio length ~ 10 hours 11 minutes
Narrators ~ Kelsey Navarro Foster & James Anderson Foster
POV ~ mostly single 1st, one chapter his
Featuring ~ one night stand, insta-love, opposites attract, forced proximity, fake dating, slow burn, minimal steamage

Serena & Henry's meet cute was funny when her pants were literally stuck to the booth. She had to wiggle out of them and borrow his jacket since she was leaving the bar sans pants and underroos. They head back to his hotel and get very well acquainted with each other. So acquainted in fact that he instantly falls for her. She feels it too, but since she's career driven and anti-relationship she pushes him away. But it turns out he's her new boss...awkward.

Then we have a time jump to 437 rotations of the earth later. Since they are both physicists it's pretty heavy on science talk, so be prepared for that. They don't seem to get along too well, but are forced into each other's lives when they switch bodies. Of course this is right before Henry's brothers wedding, so Serena has to pretend she is him and then something happens with her family and he has to pretend he's her because who would believe the truth. I'm pretty sure I would not, would you? They each played the opposite quite well. Henry even got to experience having his period 😂

Overall, there were some funny moments, some suspend your belief moments and some good banter.

Series notes:
Fine as a standalone, but Ghosted characters pop in here a couple of times.

Narration notes:
Kelsey, as always, does a fabulous job. She had to do her American accent as well as a male British one and I didn't hate what I was hearing. Although, since we do have a 2nd narrator a duet narration would have really brought this one home. As it was he only narrated one chapter. He does do a good British accent. I just realized these two are married.

This was a fun fast paced book full of romance with some paranormal body swapping and enough turmoil to keep you hooked.

We follow along with scientist/physicist Serena Otaki and colleague Henry Joules. This is an opposites attract, science gone wrong romance. They meet and for Serena love is out of the question. She values her work above all else and refuses to lose herself to love. As for Henry, after meeting Serena, he believes in love at first sight. The night they shared was magical and life altering, but is brushed off as a night of fun by Serena.
Time passes and they are at a pinnacle of disagreement when they wake up in each others bodies. Their worlds collide and the two must pretend to be each other. So they stick together and attend family functions as they figure things out.

I listened to Switched on audiobook, written by Sarah Ready and narrated by Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster. It was an excellent audio, mostly read by Kelsey who did a great job throughout bringing the story to life and keeping it engaging.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for early access to the audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This book was adorable! What a unique take on a Freaky Fridayesque situation!. I was intrigued when I read the premise, and I wanted to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It was really enjoyable to see how each character responded to being in the body of the opposite sex. If only the male protagonist could have experienced being pregnant and being in labor! This was my first book by Sarah Ready and I really enjoyed her style of writing. It was witty, cute, and just a great relaxing read. Would be wonderful on vacation. I will definitely be following this author for more of her books in the future!

It was so cute!

I absolutely loved the switch and how Henry and Serena’s relationship develop from one night to loving each other.

It was super amazing listening to it in audio format. I was laughing and crying! Absolutely would recommend if you want a cute romance story.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for this amazing opportunity!

When I saw this one available on NetGalley, I button mashed so fast trying to request, download, anything. I loved the first book in the series so much that I went into this blind, interested to see how the author and the characters could possibly compare.
They didn't. It was an entirely different story, a different approach, different experiences. And that was the beauty of it. Serena and Henry had different needs, interests, fears and stories- even more so as we walked through them. I loved that Serena spoke directly to the reader, I loved that she was unabashed in her fear of love yet still hopeful.
|loved Henry's quiet, fierce romanticism.
I freaking loved this story. I love this author. 100% read this.

This book is so good! I could not put it down!
Switched is a stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading Ghosted first.
Switched is a paranormal romance and women's fiction masterpiece. I'm normally not a fan of paranormal romances, but this one was done so perfectly. In order to move Serena's story and growth, the switching of the characters was the perfect answer. She is a brilliant scientist who is driven in her work.
One night, she gets stuck to a seat and meets Henry. Their connection is instantaneous and intense. So much so that Serena runs from him. Except, they work together.
The story that ensues is engrossing and absolutely perfect. I loved the science references so much. I cannot recommend this enough!

Serena & Henry were very likeable, and I found myself laughing out loud at points in the book.
Naturally, you have to suspend belief for some aspects but it was such an easy read & a fun story that you find yourself fully IN for the craziness.
It was able to balance the line between cute, funny & sweet but never becoming cheesy.

It wasn’t a 4 star read for me but I really would recommend.

Switched is my first Sarah Ready book and I plan to purchase the start of this series (Ghosted) because I love me a supernatural love story that’s easy to digest.

I binged this during my first 2 days back at work, and it made for a much more enjoyable time.

Switched by Sarah Ready

-women in STEM
-body switching (Freaky Friday style)
-forced proximity
-fake dating
-magical realism

I impulsively grabbed this as a Listen Now on Netgalley when I read the magical realism synopsis. This romance is like... Big Bang Theory meets Freaky Friday. You have to be willing to suspend reality for a bit, but I truly loved the magical realism aspect of this. This was a really neat concept, and I enjoyed the love story between Serena and Henry. There were some fantastic laugh-out-loud moments as well.

It wasn't perfect but it made me happy while I was reading it, and what more can you really ask for than that?

I do think that I preferred this as an e-book or physical read over the audio - there are a couple of graphics that you get in the print copy that are missed in the audio, but they are described quite well. Narration was excellent.

Serena is a scientist who is unorganized and doesn’t believe in love. It’s not that she doesn’t believe love exists - she just thinks that love makes you forget who you are as an individual.

Henry on the other hand is all about love. He loves everything - his family, friends, physics, and even Serena after one amazing night together. Serena panics, and does everything in her power to ensure Henry knows that they won’t work together - that is until she and Henry unexpectedly switch places. As they spend time in each other’s bodies, meeting each other’s families, and trying to switch back, Serena starts to learn that maybe you can love and remain who you truly are at the same time.

This book was so cute and funny with a definite “Freaky Friday” vibe. The audio had me laughing out loud so many times, but the plot was also incredibly heartwarming. I loved both Serena and Henry’s characters. Henry is such a gem of a human and I loved the way he expressed himself. Their chemistry was fantastic.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the audio ARC.

Switched is essentially a "Freaky Friday" rom-com in the sense that a year and a half after Serena and her "one-night stand" turned Physics coworker, Henry, share that electrifying night together.... they end up switching places.

Serena is career focused and believes loving someone else will diminish her ambitions, while Henry is one to embrace love.

Once the switch takes place, the story really picks up. These two go on an adventure of self discovery, while also deeply growing to understand each other. It was so much fun, I was kicking my feet GIDDY. IDK how, but by the end of it, I started to believe this could really happen and that magic really is just something that science hasn't discovered yet.

"the stars make each other shine brighter"

The concept of two potential lovers switching places is nothing I have ever read before, and I absolutely loved it.

🧬🥼Switched🥼🧬
“Making your parts collide while particles collide.” After finishing Ghosted a few days ago, and falling in love with it, I thought there was no way this would be better. But, I was wrong. Switched is officially my fave of the series. Think Freaky Friday, but nerdy af and they want to bang, and bam you have Switched.

Switched is part of the Ghosted series. But, it can be read as standalone. I highly recommend reading Ghosted first.
✨Tiddy Temptress✨
“It isn’t exactly a fertile field for fornication.” Finally someone got hospitals right lol
Cons:
Authors! Can you please stop perpetuating that I.V’s are needles in your hand! It’s a tiny flexible catheter! The needle is removed instantly! All this does is create/foster fears, leading to delayed care. Done with soap box.
(This is a me pet peeve and I’m sure others who aren’t in HC will not have a problem with this scene, but it chaps my cheeks).

⭐️Disclaimer: I received this book as an arc. All opinions are my own. Thank You NetGalley & Sarah Ready for a chance to read this book.⭐️

How you know a book is good? Probably when you don't bother to tell yourself" one more chapter" and just keep reading till dawn breaks.

Not my first Sarah Ready book. I fell love with Dear Christmas and put Ghosted on my TBR immediately. Not mad at all that I started the series (out of order) with this book.

Serena and Henry spend an amazing night together. Serena has no place in her life for love and Henry might have just found " the one". Despite their chemistry, Serena shuts things down immediately. Fast foward 437 days later and an unexpected, impossible occurence at the Hardon Collider where they are shocked to find out they wake up in the other's body.
Unable to understand or fix the problem, they have no choice but to stick together till they can figure out a solution together.

Being in each other's bodies enables them to discover things about one another ( good and "negative") and this enhances their understanding for each other.

I loved the comparison of the angler-fish to relationships ( going to Google that after this review😄)
This story unfolded in a funny but heartwarming way and was just an absolute pleasure to read from beginning to end. I wish I could read it again for the first time.

So many thanks to Netgalley, the author and publisher for the wonderful opportunity to read this book! I was also given the chance to listen to the audio and it sounded great ❤️

One thing is certain, this will not be my last Sarah Ready book!

You may have to suspend reality to fully appreciate this nerdy, supernatural body swapping romcom that in my opinion only Sarah Ready could pull off so well!! Work rivals and total opposites, Serena and Henry find themselves waking up in each other's body after a freak accident happens involving the Large Hadron Collider forcing them to impersonate one another for some family functions.

A completely unique fake dating romance, this one was great on audio and had my laughing so hard. Many thanks to NetGalley and the author for an early audio copy in exchange for my honest review. This was also good on audio narrated by one of my favs, Kelsey Navarro Foster and James Anderson Foster.
