Ralfy Rabbit is a brilliantly bookish bunny and his stories are always widely shared and enjoyed in our libraries. With libraries consistently under threat, it is great to show young readers how they can get involved and help share their love of libraries.
I loved this story and felt really proud of Ralfy!
Save the library! Great message for book lovers.
Third outing for Ralfy, we've loved all of these brilliantly illustrated picture books for story-lovers.
Now Ralfy and brother Rodney have a mission though. Their beloved local library is closing down! Nobody is using it anymore. Only a magic dragon could possibly save it from happening - so our long-toothed little heroes determine to find this creature and keep their refuge of books open.
Everywhere they search, they may not come across a dragon, but they do happen to meet a lot of people who realise they need to read up on various subjects and might have a use for the library after all.
Of course, readers will be heartened by the story's conclusion and the message that we can all play our part to spread messages, to bring about change, to stir passion in others.
Great series, and a message we need to instill in a new generation.
For ages 3-7.
With thanks to Netgalley for providing a sample reading copy.
Ralfy and Rodney love their library, but not enough people are using it so it is shutting down. Miss Paige says it would take a magic dragon to keep it open, and so the hunt begins. But is it really a magic dragon that is needed, or is it something altogether different? A lovely, fun story that works as a great reminder for people to use their library.
Lovely story with colourful bright illustrations. We often have to fight to keep our libraries & public spaces open, it’s great to think children will want to help in that fight to save such important resources for their communities.
This is the latest in a series of stories about Ralfy Rabbit and although we have to admit to not reading the others, we definitely will now. With a loveable character on a noble mission, this is a gentle story which champions the power and importance of libraries.
Ralfy Rabbit and his brother, Rodney, are horrified to learn that their local library is closing. The librarian tells them that only a magic dragon can save the library now...and so Ralfy and Rodney immediately set out to find one. But there doesn't seem to be a magic dragon anywhere! Is there anything else that can save the library?
The plot of this story is really clever and we really liked how Ralfy's mission stemmed from a humorous misunderstanding and a throwaway comment about a magic dragon. This made the journey of the story more interesting and the resolution more satisfying, as well as adding a lovely touch of humour. We loved the themes of community and were reminded of how important it is to appreciate each other and also the special things we have on our doorstep.
As well as the library, there's a variety of other settings in the story too. This allows the reader to enjoy a great range of illustrations, which are just as adorable as Ralfy and Rodney. It's a relatable story that encapsulates the small world of a child, promotes a love of reading and will make you want to visit your library straight away...probably for more Ralfy Rabbit books.
this is SO CANNY. Ralfy loves the library and he’s really sad to hear that I tea closing down… can he hunt down the dragon and save the library? This made me so happy. It’s a proper testament to libraries and their communities. This would be a perfect World Book Day read!
Thank you so much to Bloomsbury Children's Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Ralfy and Rodney love their library but no one else uses it, so Miss. Paige is shutting it down, but if only she had a magic dragon she could leave it open. So they gather their friends and try to find a magic dragon and save the library.
What an absolutely adorable story, this was so cute. Ralfy, Rodney and their friends all took her words literally and went in search of this magic dragon, spreading the word to all in town that would listen about the library shutting and finding everyone needed it.
There was always so much going on in the illustrations within this book so much to look at which was great, I loved having the big scenes in each location. You could see the dragon signs up everywhere which was so adorable to see. They were really beautiful to look at.
I really enjoyed this sweet book about saving a library, libraries are so important and I’m glad this book highlighted that, to share that no one is too little to save a library and that everyone can have a reason for needing it. That everyone can be a magic dragon.
Brilliant.
I loved this and adore the message behind it. Use it or lose it really does apply to our libraries and this is an important message in a lovely picture book for the younger library users.
The message that we can achieve anything if we work together is an important one throughout life and this is an accessible story to illustrate that perfectly.
A brilliant book about a rabbit and his friends on a mission to save their library.
Mackenzie has a unique style of illustrations which are bright, hand-drawn detailed cute bunnies. She’s put her love of reading into a book and her passion for books is portrayed through Ralfy.
Even my little one is very little she still enjoyed looking at the pictures.
A great book to show we all need libraries and books in our lives in a fun, cute way. I’ve seen she’s written others following Ralfy with his family and friends which I’ll definitely be checking out. A book not just for children.
We are all magical dragons. 🐉
