Chloe and Tom had a whirlwind romance and three months later they got married. But it doesn’t take long for Chloe to realise how manipulative and controlling he is. He dictates what she has to wear and even eat. Tom has a high flying career and after a recent promotion they attend a dinner with all his colleagues. Chloe notices that Tom seems totally distracted and fascinated with one of the guests, a beautiful young woman called Savannah. Chloe follows her to the toilet and learns that she is a high class escort and devises a plan that could see her escape Tom’s clutches. But things don’t go as planned and before long Chloe realises that her life could be in danger. This book is full of suspense and twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end. A highly recommended read.
Thanks to Netgalley and a Boldwood Books for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
I absolutely devoured this book. Gemma Rogers is a mastermind when it comes to storytelling. The story is told from 3 POV. Gemma did a great job in portraying Tom, the husband. She definitely made him one to dislike which was the point. I also like reading books outside of the US, points for that. I am looking forward to more by Ms. Rogers.
Introducing Tom, the most despicable man you ever did meet: Coercive, manipulative and simply utterly toxic. Introducing Chloe, the unfortunate wife of said human who is in desperate need of a way out of their marriage.
I absolutely devoured this read, my kindle was in hand at every spare moment I had; Gemma Rogers has most definitely become one of my favourite authors!

General synopsis, Chloe and Tom are married. Tom is a total narcissist and has Chloe truly under his control. When Chloe realizes Tom has another “toy”, she hatches a plan to try to escape Tom, but all doesn't go as planned. Told in 3 POV’s (which I love a multiple POV), we get every character's perspective. None of the characters are particularly like-able, Tom being especially infuriating. Short chapters keep you engaged and interested, however, the story really ends up going nowhere. 4 stars because I was left confused with so many questions. I felt the ending was rushed and some circumstances unbelievable.
Loved this book. It really shows how a person can be isolated, able to leave but not strong enough. The interaction with Savannah was well written, but I think the £5k offered would have been more to lure the husband away. £5k would not be much for her. The interaction between all of the wives showed true colors. A really exciting book to read and lots of suspense.
I requested this book on Netgalley as Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is one of my favourite reads ever, and I hoped this would be in a similar vein.
Chloe and Tom are married. Tom is a total narcissist and has Chloe well and truly under his control. When Chloe realises he is playing away with the lovely Savannah, she hatches a plan to try to escape but all doesn't go as she would like.
Told in a 3 person narrative, Chloe's, Tom's and Savannah's we get every character's POV. None of the characters are particularly likeable or endearing in any way, Tom being especially despicable. Short snappy chapters keep you hooked, however, the story really ends up going nowhere. The ending imho isn't good and I was left disappointed and with so many questions. I was so invested and wanted a triumphant ending for Chloe and for her to go out with a roar. What I got was a rushed and hurried, totally unbelievable ending that whimpered out rather than roared. A disappointing 3 stars.
This book was very well written even though the Stepford wive compliance thing (no spoilers) irritated me immensely. I can't imagine living my life like that! I enjoyed the book a lot and will definitely read more in future!

What a well-written book.
Most of the time it is around three people. Tom his wife Chloe and Savanagh a high-class escort. Other characters pop up throughout this story.
Domestic abuse at its best.
Tom is a control freak and Chloe does everything he asks of her even how many mouthfuls of food she eats.
He lays out the clothes he wants her to wear and demands a nightie with different colors for her to wear whatever his mood is and she politely obeys
Tom's depraved and clever although he plays havoc with her mind, he's careful not to lash out physically and show any bruises.
Wow, what a fabulous book, after reading it. i felt that I'd done 100 situps as my stomach was so tense and in knots.
Gemma Rogers writes some fabulous books and i have read them all but this one was a real cracker.
Trying not to spoil it, but let's just say this looks like the type of psychological thriller we see on the shelves regularly, but it goes a lot further.
Each character always takes it further than we expect them to and that's what makes this completely different and surprising.
This is a domestic thriller suspense and I was immediately hooked from the very first few pages! I couldn't read fast enough. It is definitely a page turner.
This book sure knows how to pull the punches. It highlights ho shocking a controlling partner can be and what can stem from these shocking behaviours. A very well written book. I think I have just found a new favourite author.
Having previously read one of Gemma's books and loved it , I had high expectations for this one and it didnt disappoint. I couldnt wait to start reading it. She didnt disappoint . I loved it. The tension had my anxiety levels high. Told by multiple perspectives , I couldnt put it down. Highly recommend.
Thank you @rararesources and @GemmaRodgers79 for letting me be part if this tour and reviewing this book. The Good Wife is psychological thriller gener. I really enjoyed reading this book. It hooked me from the first paragraph. The story is about Chloe who has controlling husband and is not happy and meets Savannah who she hires to help her. The twists are brilliant and did not see them coming. I hated Tom and was not sure on Savannah but I did change my mind half way through but I felt sorry for Chole. Theres a good ampunt of tension running through the book. The Good wife is definitely worth a read, loved it, could not put it down. 5 stars.
The good wife - It had a lot of tension all the way though and I couldn’t wait to find out the outcome . I’ve always loved this author but this book was one of her best . I would definitely recommend it to my friends and followers. 5 stars from me , I can’t wait for the next book from her
I’d give this super slow paced thriller(?) a solid 2.5 ⭐️….definitely not a page turner. The main characters were unlikeable and often made it difficult to finish the book. There were so many unnecessary details that prolonged the book. All the details failed to provide an interesting plot. I dreaded Chloe and Tom’s POV chapters…they just kept getting worse and more predictable.
I’ve enjoyed previous books by the author…but this one wasn’t for me. I would not recommended this book to others….maybe the audiobook version would be better 🤷♀️
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the gifted ARC…as all opinions are my own.
The Good Wife by Gemma Rogers
Can Chloe get away?
Tom and Chloe look like the perfect couple. But are they?
Secrets and lies and abuse are masked by their facade of happiness they present to the world.
In the beginning it was a whirlwind affair and quick marriage but three years into it, Chloe has had enough.
Enough of being abused, hit, controlled and having everything monitered including 10 bites of food.
As a former abused woman, reading what Chloe went through was hard, but necessary to the story.
Remembering how isolated I became, when my own family was a main reason I ran to this man.....but anyway, victims/survivors are isolated in order for their abuser to gain more control.
Chloe has reacher her limit and sees an escape perhaps.
At a work function Tom wins a lottery, and a mistress.
Chloe hatches a plan, to get the mistress to possibly take her place.
From this point the story takes off and many things happen which I can't share.
I will say I was intrigued and invested enough to see if Chloe would get out or not.
I hate to say I enjoyed the story but I couldn't put it down, I had to find out how it ended.
So that sad, warnings here abuse mentioned, sex mentioned and explicit sexual conduct happened in this story, if these things bother the reader, then skip this book.
Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Chloe and Tom have been married for 3 years and seemed to live a happy life. Tom starts to become more and more controlling, he picks out Chloe's clothes for her, won't let her work, won't let her see her friends and monitors everything she does and everywhere she goes. Then one night at a staff function Tom holds the lucky ticket and wins the big prize. He wins $5,000 but he also wins Savannah. Eventually Chloe finds out about Savannah and instead of being furious with her she comes up with her own little plan to hopefully get Savannah to help her leave this prison of a marriage once and for all. Loved this book and look forward to reading many more by this Author!!!! The twist was great too!!
"The Good Wife" promises a thrilling domestic suspense however it fell short of the empowering story I was hoping for. While I thought Gemma Rogers did a good job portraying Tom's character, the execution of Cloe's escape plan was hard for me to buy into and lacked that sense of dread needed to propel the story forward. In today's heightened awareness surrounding domestic abuse, some actions and motivations of the characters were hard to buy into.
Despite these shortcomings, I thought the story offered moments of intrigue, which had me click the pages to see how it all turned out for Cloe.
I have to admit, I didn’t really get into this one until around the 40% mark. It started off really slow, but then once it picked up I was hooked!
Thank you to NetGalley, Gemma Rogers, and Boldwood Books for an ARC copy of "The Good Wife".
"The Good Wife" delves into the dark and intricate web of a controlling and abusive marriage.
The story portrays the psychological toll of such a toxic relationship, highlighting the isolation and despair felt by Chloe as she is cut off from her loved ones and denied the opportunity to pursue her interests. Tom controls every facet of her existence, dictating her hairstyle, wardrobe choices, social interactions, and daily routines. Chloe finds a glimmer of hope in an unexpected encounter with Savannah that opens up the possibility of freedom.
If you're looking for a compelling psychological thriller with compelling characters, I recommend adding this to your reading list.
