Chloe's been hitched to Tom for three years, and let me tell you, she's having major regrets because the guy's a total control freak. Tom's working for this shady company, and at some fancy work shindig, they run into the mysterious Savannah. Chloe spots her ticket out of the marriage, and let's just say things get wild from there.
Now, here's the deal—the story unfolds through the eyes of these three characters. It's a speedy ride with loads of twists, even if some parts are a bit out there. Overall, it's a solid, gripping, and downright entertaining read.
Oh, and the ending? Brace yourself. I did not see that coming. I thought I had it all figured out, but nope, I was dead wrong. I won't spill the beans, but it made me audibly gasp. Seriously, if you're into thrillers that keep you on the edge of your seat till the very last page, this one's a must-read!
Chloe has been married to Tom for three years and now regrets it as he is so controlling.
Tom works for a dodgy company and, at a lavish work event, he and Chloe meet the enigmatic Savannah and Chloe sees her means of escape from the marriage, with unpredictable results.
The story is told by these three characters. It's fast paced with lots of twists, if improbable in places. A good beach read.
Best book I’ve read in ages! Oh, my! The dynamic between Savannah, Tom, and Chloe is full of ups, downs, and turn-arounds! This is a true page turner; I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen. Psychological thriller readers are in for a real treat with this one. Gemma Rogers has somehow managed to up her already skyrocketed game!
5 stars are nowhere near enough!! This is the most addictive book I have read in...well ever!! Fantastic work Gemma Rogers!
The story is about a young wife, Chloe, who has the misfortune to be married to an utterly vile, despicable and narcissistic character, Tom (he makes a great character, but you would not want to meet this guy let alone be his spouse!). To say he is controlling is a vast understatement. Chloe wants out of this marriage. Tom tells Chloe the only way she is getting out is in a box (ouch!!). Another central character is alluring escort, Savannah. The plot focuses around these 3 central characters, with the story being told through these 3 perspectives.
This book reads SO well, my only criticism is that eventually it does end and then, dear reader, you are left with a book shaped void that (sigh) is near impossible to fill. I pity the next book I review as the bar for fiction in 2024 has been set seriously high!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
5 well deserved stars. I love this author and this has to be my favorite book by her thus far. Tom and Chloe have been married 3 years. They married quickly after a 3 month whirlwind romance. However, Mr. Perfect turned into Chloe's nightmare. Tom in manipulative, controlling, and quite disgusting. He controls everything... what she eats, what she wears, when she gets her hair cut, where she goes. He's managed to isolate her from everyone she had in her life. He has reduced her to a shell of her former self.
Is there a way out for Chloe? Perhaps. Tom meets Savannah at a corporate dinner party. Could Chloe get Savannah on her side to steal away her husband? This book is so well written, and just so readable, I could not put it down. I finished it in a day. The characters were brought to life with me rooting for Chloe and her friend Anita. I didn't want it to end.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the ARC. I greatly appreciate it. I very highly recommend this book.
Thank you to Netgallery and the publisher for this ARC. Wow, where do I begin this book was so captivating with lots of twists and turns that hooked me from the very first line of the prologue.
I raced through the book eager to find out what would happen next! The suspense element of the book I loved it made me read on well into the night! My favourite characters were both Chloe and Savannah as she was fierce and the character of Chloe I felt so sorry for her what she was going through with her horrible husband Tom.
Finally, the ending WOW I didn’t see it coming, it made me gasp out loud I thought I had guessed it but I was so wrong! I’d highly recommend everyone to read this book if you want an edge-of-your-seat thriller that will have you gripped until the very last page! 😊
Couldn’t put The Good Wife down! This is my first book by Gemma Roger’s and it did NOT disappoint. If you are looking for a mystery packed thriller with a great plot twist, gas lighting and revenge this is the book for you.
I love Gemma Rogers and drop everything when i see her name.
This one was right up there for me. A manipulative and pretty disgusting husband and a wife that has been ground down into a shadow of her previous self.
Plenty of surprises and twists as the story progress's. I could not put it down and read way into the night.
Please keep them coming Gemma.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for this wonderful early copy.
Good book! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, Action packed, intrigue, mystery, murder, revenge, gas lighting, abuse, a great who done it, great plot twist, and some crazy twists and turns! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle!! I definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
My heart is pounding as I write this review, my emotions all over the place and I really don’t know how a written review could do Roger’s justice.
This is a book that sits with me on so many levels. Our main character is trapped, controlled and stuck with husband Tom. She knows there is no way she will be able to leave him alive. Appearances can be deceptive, Chloe is completely relatable which really takes your emotions on a journey.
Tom is despicable. Egotistical and arrogant, he comes across as though he thinks he’s a huge god given gift to women. When in fact, he’s vile, narcissistic and ghastly.
Savannah is a character I’ve liked. Playing the honey trap and trying to help Chloe. She’s a character I feel really added an unpredictable element. As a reader, you can’t predict what she’s going to do.
I have devoured this book in just one sitting. Roger’s has picked me up, spun me in a million directions and left me completely speechless. I can hand on heart say reading this book has been like she’s played with my soul a little bit.
One thing I love about Gemma’s books is their unpredictability. It is completely impossible to work out where they are going. I imagined at least four different endings to this book and not one was accurate.
This is perfectly paced and completely unpredictable. There are characters you will like, characters you will despise and plenty of events you don’t see coming. I am in awe of the talent of Rogers.
I’ve read all of Gemma’s books and they get better and better. This is high on the list of favourite books. Everything about this book has been superb.
I don’t think there are any words which can express how great this book is. There is nothing negative to say about this book. I will be recommending to everyone.
What an amazing, unputdownable read The Good Wife was, Tom is married to Chloe, who controls absolutely everything she does, the book was full of suspense I just couldn't out it down.
I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I normally love books by this author but this was one I did not finish. It is told in parts by a husband who controls everything about his wife, the husband and an escort whom is basically a prostitute. The storyline was ridiculous and the details were way too much for me with the prostitute parts.
