I have never been 100% sure that I like James Patterson books when he cowrites with another author. However Maxine Paetro is an exception. The style still follows James Patterson's and I don't feel that I am paying for a James Patterson book that is totally written by someone else. The 24th Hour is compulsive reading and the members of the Women's Murder Club do not fail to entertain and surprise me. In short this is about the murder investigation of a billionaire San Franciscan couple but there are 2 other stories running parallel so it can, at time, be a little confusing. However, it all becomes clear in the end. The real mystery is whether there will be any more Women's Murder Club stories after this? A good easy read.
I was delighted to have the opportunity to read an ARC of this novel, as I'm a broad fan of James Patterson's work and have read others of the Women's Murder Club series.
So, I found this another gripping and tense murder mystery in this brilliant series, though at times it felt a little laboured and the storyline a little too bitty, hence my score.
However, overall, it should be said that this was another good book in this addictive series.
OK but a bit formulaic. This book will probably appeal to James Patterson fans, but I found the characters unbelievable, and the storyline a bit too predictable.
Can't believe we are at book 24. Love this series and each and every book has had me gripped. This one is no different. I love James Patterson and how he keeps his chapters short I just fly through his books. Loved it and would recommend it.
A great story - really gripping with a lot of twists and turns. A real page turner. Highley recommended.
This is really 3 stories in one.
Although enjoyable his felt really disjointed, jumping from one story to the next.
Some parts of the story are far better than others.
This is an easy read with good characters.
A very obvious ending though
I have enjoyed reading the Women's murder club book collection. I felt like the book swapped quickly from each section it felt a bit sudden like there needing to be more of the story told before the chapter ending. Other than that I like the characters in the book and the continuation of previous storylines.
Thank you NetGalley for this advance reader copy in exchange for my free and honest review. I have not read every Murder Club novel in this series but that never matters, as each book is its own free standing trip down a brand new journey of fantastically written crimes with meticulous and detailed scenarios and amazing characters. I love the multiple cases going in at one time within one book, all free standing and incredibly written. Thanks again for another enveloping read to these authors.
Every time I see a James Patterson book on Netgalley, I request it. They're always fun to read, and that was also the case with this one. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
It's book twenty-four in the Women's Murder Club book series. It all starts in one of San Francisco's finest restaurants when the members of the murder club are out celebrating an engagement. Although the case seems pretty straightforward, it turns out to be a wild ride to uncover the truth.
I've read a few of the Women's Murder Club books before, and I liked them a lot. The characters are worked out quite well as this is already book twenty-four in the series. The story, as it always is with James Patterson, is quite a thrilling ride, and it's never a dull moment while reading.
This is most definitely a recommendation 5/5 ⭐️
Quite a fun read involving an engaging group of professional women dealing with a serious crime. Some interesting twists, including the victim's psychological condition.
I’ve read all of the women’s murder club books so far and this one was another that did not disappoint. Each of the 3 individual storylines gave a different flow to the story whilst keeping the characters linked. I felt the storyline of Mary Elena could have been explored further and ended a bit abruptly but was a good storyline. I had the story line of the Frickes murders figured of quite early on but this was still enjoyable. I found the least interesting story was the one of the cyber terrorism. Overall another good read by Mr Patterson.
As always another fast paced read. Doesn’t reinvent the wheel because it doesn’t have to, he has a formula and it works.
Great holiday read, well written and a page turner.
It’s a nice, easy holiday thriller, but at the same time, i feel like I’ve read this before and it’s a tad repetitive, forgettable and (dare I say it?) tired.
Not up the Patterson’s usual standard (but the last few instalments in this series has been very hit and miss with fans, and I can’t help feeling that the Women’s Murder Club should have ended at either [book:10th Anniversary|10233508] or [book:12th of Never|15734464]). And I say that even though I have a soft spot with this series (in fact, [book:3rd Degree|446384] was my first ever James Patterson, hence my soft spot) seems to be a theme with Patterson that he doesn’t know when/how to end a series…
Maybe I’ve outgrown James Patterson thrillers and need to take a break. Maybe it because I keep picking up weaker instalments and need to pay attention to Patterson fans on their reactions.
This is a nice, easy read, perfect for reading by the pool or on an airplane, but it lacks substance.
Thank you to Netgalley and publisher for the next installment in the women's murder club series this is 24th installment and so good as per usual don't fail to disappoint!
5 stars
I have read all the previous 23 and this is another great story from the Woman's Murder Club. As usual lots of action through the different story lines running through the book, with many twists and turns with all the usual characters involved. Highly recommended am looking forward to number 25.
Great storyline, gripping with a lot of twists and turns. It is a real page turner - like all the books by the author. James Patterson's books never disappoint. Higley recommended.
Another great case.
I love this series with these ladies women's murders murder club is my happy place. I loved this one as much as all the others. January Leroy is the best narrator for this series she really makes you love the characters even more and truly understand them.
A book in the murder womens series. Fast paced, short chapters and to the point writing which all make for a quick read. There are 3 different cases here, where different members of the group of friends are involved in. All unrelated, two of which are wound up quite quickly. The murder case is more twisty and there are a few dead ends along the way. The resolution was unexpected, but not really down to detective work.
Not a bad read, though I would have preferred just one or two of the crimes here with more connections between them. The personal connections between the group of friends was also a bit contrived here.
Thanks to Net Galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review
This is book number 24 in The Women's Murder Club series and it is another enjoyable read with characters I have come to know very well.
As with all the previous books there are short chapters that change according to which characters part of the story is being told.
If you are looking for an entertaining, easy read police procedural story then look no further.
I have not read James Patterson before, but he was recommended to me. Currently struggling to get to grips with all the characters and the links possibly to previous Womens Murder Club stories. I will come back to it again, just need a break from murder stories.
